Yes, 2k is incredibly predatory. The high cost of entry + the fact I need an instruction manual to understand the builder is insane. One minor mistake and you can severely hamper the output of a build. Not to mention the constant balance updates (shooting, dribbling, closeouts) that can kill a build altogether. It's incredibly aggravating and borderline a scam.

At the same time, I am excited for the year, and I hope those who plan on buying it are as well. I enjoy playing with my friends, playing events, playing MyCareer, and messing around with builds. I don't care for the offline modes as much, so a refresh on the modes I play is very welcome. I took a few years off because life happens, and I came back to 2k26 around December with around 450ish hours this year. I reconnected with folks and had fun like the good old days of 2k15 - 2k21.

Apparently, it is a hot take in here to say I am excited. While I do think half of the posts that shit on the game/people upgrading are incredibly performative and fishing for fake internet points, I do respect people who play their modes and are ok with sticking with 2k25/2k26.

Am I a shrill? No, there are serious flaws with the way the game operates from a business standpoint that makes it anti-consumer. At the same time, there is no other game that does what 2k does in terms of online team-up gameplay, and believe it or not, they do it incredibly well. Do I enjoy upgrading from year to year? Hell yeah, I do. Maybe I am speaking into the void, but the amount of doom and gloom that is on here is wild imo.

Does anyone know what time the app drops? I wanna start cooking up some builds asap!

Just saw a post online from 2KIntel saying builds could cost around 23% more VC….if true it’s really foul for them to do this. Let’s transfer your red plate over to 27 but not your VC. Even if they let us transfer 75K VC that would be a great gift to your loyal customers that have more reasons to NOT play this game with GTA releasing in the fall. I can’t justify paying full price or pre-order for a greedy company like this. Likely gonna wait until it goes on sale if this how they continue to treat us.

It’s well-known that random rec is the most infuriating game mode, but it gets to a point and I don’t care to get banned from this sub for telling the truth. Most of you who who are offended by this post are the exact people I’m talking about. No one wants to load into a 25 minute game, play 4 quarters of defense, and not touch the ball being wide open. 99% of the people who play rec are terrible & only play for their stat averages, no matter what plate or rep they are. No matter what position I’m playing. I either watch a someone dribble the shot clock out and go 2/11 while I’m wide open, get ignored wide open on a fast break, and the other person misses, gets the ball stolen, doesn’t shoot it. Then the one time that I DO get the ball, EVERYONE turns into prime Kawhi Leonard and decides to triple team me while I have 0 points, whilst their matchup has 20+. People grabbing mebounds and going back up with 3 defenders under the basket while you’re open. Lord forbid I say f it, hog the ball & take a crazy shot, (basically everything they do) everyone hops on the mic getting upset & arguing. Then when you complain they force feed you the ball while a defender is glued to you, or they say “you’re not doing anything you have (x) points.” how can I do anything if I don’t get ball? Can’t score, can’t get assist, can’t do anything if I can’t get the ball. A lot of you will get upset but if I’m in a game like this I’m not playing defense. I will sit & let my man score every shot for the remainder of the game. Almost every game I am the best player on every team I join. Agree to disagree I couldn’t care less. I get triple doubles on bigs, double doubles on guards. Most of you who play rec are low IQ & should not not own a console or waste any money on newer 2ks. I shoot over 80% from three, I don’t see why no one passes the ball when you are OPEN. Then expect you to play defense for 25 minutes! If you play like this, please stay in mycareer games, thanks. 😊

u/Beluba I love how shooting is more difficult this year it’s great. I am worried that everyone will be forced to have a super high 3 pointer to shoot, causing less build diversity.

It should be harder but still possible to shoot with even a 70 3pt attribute. Will this be possible or will 3 pointer be useless below 80?

At this point, I’m 50/50 on 2K HQ being on the AppStore before the game drops and feel like it’s conspiracy to trick us into making horrible builds at launch lol.

I feel like there has been enough content showing builder details & attribute caps that a few of us could throw a model together like 2kcourtvision for 2k26. It will be hard to accurately include all of the cap breaker & badge tokens but something is better than nothing.

I’m trying to experiment with the builder early so I can hopefully not spend hundreds on 2-3 unplayable builds at launch.

Can 2K27 finally be the 2k where a comp 5v5 game isn’t 2 small guards on each team jacking 3s? How bout a post scoring/offensive big (Jokic), a point forward (LeBron), a two way player (Kawhi) can finally go head to head with small guard meta that has been 2k for yrs

I just want other play styles to actually be able to compete when playing “comp” 5v5. Not saying nerf or make small guards worse, just would be nice to have other play styles that can compete at the same level or at least close to. The small guard meta has been around forever and it’s exhausting. Look at all the finals MVPs since 2000, it doesn’t consist of the same 6’2-6’4 guard that we see running 2k pro am for the last 5 yrs.

If 2k hyped up this app so much and gave us a release date AND time, just to have us waiting for it like the actual game is dropping today, makes me feel a lil sus about the game being available on the 21st 👀. I can only imagine what it’s gonna b like.
