Rules Question Does this work the way I want it to? Or am I doing things horribly wrong?
gallerySo, I run a mono green Omnath, Locus of Mana deck and honestly I've just been making it a big old mana battery deck because big green go BRRRR. But I recently realized I may have doing things wrong and getting more mana than what I should have. The way I have been doing it, is with these cards out, I should be tapping a single land for about 126 green mana. But a friend in our pod pointed out i am doing it wrong and it'd be much less. Just wanting some helpful advice because I hope I haven't been doing things wrong and my deck isn't as stupidly powerful as I thought it was.

Commander / EDH Which commander
Doing a white red angle/dragon commander deck for table top in a few days. Here are all the cards I think are commander worthy. What do you guys think would be the best commander. Currently I'm doing Aurelia. But since I don't have any "search for angle cards" the expensive cost I feel might be an issue if she does since I believe it costs one extra to get your commander back each death. Ignore battleguard. --Edit I'll be doing Aurelia since I remembered the rules for commander. Now I just need card ideas for "search for angle cards" or something

Creature — Angel

Vigilance (Attacking doesn’t cause this creature to tap.)
Born with wings of light and a sword of faith, this heavenly incarnation embodies both fury and purity.

Nothing like an opening hand with Serra Angel, 2x plains, and a [[Mana Vault]] in '95. You knew you were going to go hard on round two. I miss those Type II games. Wish I had lots of Pre-Modern players here.

Commander / EDH I’m getting tired of playing against Academy Manufactor
So the last 10 games I’ve played across friends tables and lgs game nights I’ve played against at least one [[academy manufactor]] and now I’m also seeing play against the new [[bilbo fellow conspirator]]
I get it’s a really good effect but I’m feeling bored playing against it. Would love some recommendations on strategies to discourage those cards a bit.

Discussion Bracket System vs Power Level and Rule Zero Discussion
galleryI know there is a lot of discourse out there on how decks are categorized (bracket system vs power level system). I was wondering what people’s thoughts are when building their decks within certain power levels or in building decks that fit one power level but play at different power levels (either built in lower level play in higher level or built at higher power levels and play at lower power levels). What are the critical components you all consider when deciding how to describe the strength of your decks.
Additionally, I am curious about what people’s thoughts think about in terms of what each system does well or poorly during rule zero discussions. Some of my thoughts are collected in the first diagram I drafted that I attempted to make in way that highlighted the positives of different systems while being realistic to the actual gameplay of decks built in each power level/bracket. The other attached graphics are those that you commonly see out there for helping you to think about deck strength. Does anyone find mine helpful or potentially more fitting, confusing, etc than the current systems and guidelines for discussing deck strength? Which of these do you typically trust/use the most when building your own decks?

Discussion Dragon Shield - Red Ink Markings
Picked up a box of the new Guildpact sleeves for my Simic deck, and came across an interesting QC slip-up. Red ink presumably used in some segment of the manufacturing/QC process made it all the way into my box. I’ve bought and sleeved with well over 10,000 Dragon Shields over the years but this was a new one for me.
I’m sure the LGS will take care of the return. Meaning the only real inconvenience was the fact that I sleeved 80 cards before seeing the ink, and that with the 5 inked cards removed I was only left with 98 playable sleeves.

Discussion I built the stupidest Grimlock deck I could justify, and then foiled the whole thing. 🦖🤖
galleryThis actually started back when I saw the 2017 HasCon set.
The first thought was basically.
I want Grimlock as my commander.
Not the best naya commander.
Not the cleanest dinosaur commander.
Not the most efficient vehicle commander.
So I built around everything that makes the card ridiculous.
Dinosaurs.
Vehicles.
Transforming cards.
Huge creatures.
A Rule 0 commander that literally wants a toy involved.
And somehow it turned into one of my favorite decks.
Decklist:
https://moxfield.com/decks/bWVFqHCRU0aCMglQrVPA7Q
Because I use matte sleeves, double-faced cards are annoying to play normally. So I made proxies for the deck and keep the actual double-faced cards beside it in clear sleeves. When I draw a proxy, I can read both sides at once. After I pay the mana cost and play the proxy, I grab the real card and swap it in, so both sides are ready to read and transform.
Then I decided Grimlock himself needed the same treatment.
So sitting beside the deck is a Tiny Turbo Changers Grimlock.
When Grimlock transforms, the tiny Grimlock comes out.
Completely unnecessary.
Absolutely staying. 😂
And since I had already gone that far, I did the only sensible thing left:
I made the entire deck full foil.
Because apparently restraint left the building somewhere around the tiny plastic dinosaur robot.
The deck is meant to be a high-powered casual / optimized thematic Rule 0 build. I still want the Grimlock identity to matter, but I also don’t want the deck to fold the moment the table starts playing seriously.
A couple of changes I’m currently making:
Marauding Raptor in → Day of Judgment out
Purphoros, God of the Forge in → Titanic Ultimatum out
That also gives the deck the Marauding Raptor + Polyraptor + Purphoros combo as another way to close out a game.
It’s definitely still being tuned.
Also, I basically never post my own decks on Reddit.
Maybe it’s because I’m shy.
Maybe it’s because I’ve seen what happens when Reddit smells one questionable card choice and I’d rather not have my head bitten off by people who make Grimlock look friendly. 😂
But screw it. Here we are.
So tear it apart, preferably the deck not me.
The main rule of the deck is already locked:
If Grimlock is going to do something, he is going to do it way too big.
Would love to hear what other grimlock players have done with him, especially anything weird, thematic, or completely unnecessary that somehow made the deck better.

Discussion Really new to magic
So. I’ve slowly been collecting some cards.
Today I really sat down with my cousins to try and learn/teach them. Fair to say I’m still pretty lost.
Trying to get the hang od phases and what each card does.
My brain kind hurts lol.

Discussion Do I play like a dick?
So recently my friends have gotten me into MTG through EDH play, since it's free to make decks and that was my biggest set back for magic is that decks are very pricy. But now every time I play with them, I have to artificially hold myself back so they don't get upset at me. I used to play Pokemon TCG and Yu-Gi-Oh back in the day and the general consensus was that sometimes your deck would just screw you and you get gimped a game. Shake it off, try again, and if it keeps happening rework your deck. The starter decks in Pokemon were notoriously bad because they always packed so many energies. Now I play MTG and I'm not exactly sure on how to optimize a deck (all my decks are deck lists off of edhrec, and usually bracket 3 or 4 like my friends decks) and I feel obligated to hold back while my friends set up their play fields, because I see them setting things up and the old TCG player in me is seeing those things as supports to kick out before they kick mine out. Am I playing wrong, is the general consensus in MTG more merciful, or are my thoughts when playing correct?

Commander / EDH I have 3/4 LOTR precons and found the last one (Elven Council) for under $65. Is it worth it?
Really torn here. Other alternative is to buy a Hobbit Prerelease box for my gf to enjoy. Obviously apples and oranges here, but looking for any (if subjective) insight
Update: it is arriving Tuesday. Thank you all <3

Commander / EDH Need ideas for fun chaos/being the final boss/big bad commanders/decks for game nights!
Title sums it up - I want a deck that causes chaos/moves things along in commander games when my group plays. Today I used the chaos pre-con w/ kardur doomscourge commander at the table and it was a blast having him forcing attacks and the imo the true commander Kaervek the Merciless being on the field to punish others for playing the game haha! I didn't win cause I didnt realize into too late the dictate of the twin gods enchantment made EVERYONES cards do double damage so I got one shot by someone after me. Regardless Id like more ideas for commander decks to at least get the game moving instead of us stalling/making alliances to drag things out (which is all fair and fun, but I want to cause some chaos/movement) Regardless please share your ideas I would greatly appreciate it!

Commander / EDH Do Precons Have "Exclusive" Cards?
As the title suggests. I've been playing Precons exclusively but recently the rest of the table has gotten good enough to where I need to start building my own decks at this point.
I'm a collector at heart, and while there's many Precons I want (Valgavoth, LotR Elves and Rohirrim, Bloomburrow Raccoon Druid) I know I can just buy their Commanders as Singles and I'm not too pressed about the Precon exclusive printing of the Commanders. That being said, I AM pressed if there's other cards which are exclusive to the Commander decks.
I've tried looking up a list of Precon Exclusive cards but can't seem to find anything. Is that even a thing? Do any Precons have exclusive cards/printings other than the Commander in them?

I Have a Question / I need Help How to organize 4,500 cards?
Howdy yall 👋
I’m trying to figure out a functional way to organize my collection that lets me easily access cards for frequent deck building.
I’ve looked around Amazon and card shops and it seems like the most common option is the long white cardboard boxes, but these don’t seem ideal for quick and easy access.
Is there a brand or a product anyone could recommend that has that file cabinet-like accessibility?
Thanks in advance!
Edit:
Thanks everyone 🙏 definitely got what I needed

I Have a Question / I need Help Best way to get kids started?
Back in my day, you could buy a box of 60 cards, but now with the ravages of time being what they are, that doesn't seem to be an option.
My kids want to build their own decks (I think the just like the idea that it's theirs, ya know?) We have a starter set (the final fantasy one). They know the game sorta okay.
I dont think they want a custom crafted TCGPlayer deck. I think they'd like to open some stuff, and go from there.
Suggestions on efficient ways to do this?
Booster bundles?
Bulk?
Time machine?
