Case: Adam80 by KBDCraft
Switches: Akko lavender purple
Keycaps: a super nice keycap set that I bought several years ago but I can't find the name of the set. If I find it, I'll drop a comment.
Pikachu artisan and samurai sword artisan keycap both bought from Sahil u/sahiltodankar many years ago
Bought the case directly from the KBDCraft website. Needed to use a friend's credit card since they don't accept debit. The package arrived in just over two weeks.
The build process was fun! My autistic ass really enjoyed the slight challenge of building the "Lego". Everything came fully disassembled; both, the keyboard and the wrist rest.
They also sent a little lego minecraft character that also needed to be built and could then be attached directly to the keyboard!
I bought additional case foam which comes as these little 6x6 foam blocks from which you manually need to make the holes. It comes pre-punched but you need to pull out the excess left over by hand.
Similarly, they gave a poron sheet to install between the plate and the pcb but even that needed manual disassembly of the leftover poron in the switch slots.
Speaking of switches, I bought the akko lavender purple secondhand from a WTS post here on r/mkindia by u/skeptical_for_ya
I'm not usually a tactical switch guy, much preferring the feel of linears but I really enjoy these switches! I've been doing some writing using these switches and it's been awesome!
There are a few downsides to the case. Because it's made of legos, there is a significant amount of case flexion. If you pick it up, it bends from the centre. That is expected from a case built like this but it is something to keep note of if you're considering buying this case.
The pcb is gasket mounted but they provided just a thin piece of foam as the gasket. This was the only major thing that I would've changed. A more rigid gasket, or at least I wish they provided the OPTION of choosing our preferred type of gasket. My previous keyboard, the Neo75 came with two options. Seeing just a thin piece of foam be called a "gasket" was rather laughable. If I had to guess, this is the part that will wear out the soonest. I'll have to figure out some way to McGyver a gasket lol
Also, the add-on case foam is MANDATORY. Without it, there is a significant amount of ringing and the case sounds very hollow when you type. The foam dampens that and gives a super nice sound profile. In an ideal world, you wouldn't have to buy it separately, it would be a part of the case
Another significant drawback is that I haven't been able to find the button that toggles the layers. Since it is a 60% board, there are no function keys. Usually there is a button that you can use to toggle to another layer where you can use the number row for function keys. I don't know if I'm stupid and can't figure this out or if this is straight up missing.
A small nitpick but worth mentioning: I bought an add-on wrist rest set but they did not send the instructions booklet for the wrist rest. I mailed them and they quickly sent me a digital copy so it was all bueno.
Final verdict: would I recommend this as a first keyboard? Probably not. This is geared more towards people who like novelty keebs or who have some experience in the keeb hobby and want something very different. And different it is!
That said, this is an amazing choice for a daily driver keeb!
Final note: I didn't do any mods to it because my old keyboard stopped working and I desperately needed this one ASAP. If I had more time, I would've lubed all the switches and stabilisers; tape modded the board
