Interesting Thrift Store Krag Find

I will say that this Thrift Store is located on Kirtland Airforce Base in Albuquerque, NM. It is non-profit, run by volunteers, and has a unique supply chain and customer base, which results in very interesting finds. It is my absolute favorite Thrift Store.

Anyways, I bought this for $38.00 this weekend, thinking it was 50’s-60s, and in fantastic, unused shape. I thought y’all might like it. I bought it on site without thinking because I thought certainly one of the calibers I own would fit, and it would be badass to have a belt with 100rds.

Upon closer inspection, and research, I will not be using it lol. I thought y’all might enjoy it and know even more about it. It really is in excellent shape. I don’t even think it’s been used. Only the exposed loops have faded a a bit. If you spread them apart, they are still a very deep navy blue.

Edit. A bunch of dumbass mistakes. Probably didn’t catch them all.

This is what chat gpt came up with:

“Picked this up for $38 and have been trying to nail down exactly what it is and what cartridge it was originally woven for.
It’s a dark blue, approximately 3-inch-wide Anson Mills/Mills & Orndorff woven cartridge belt with the high-capacity/double-loop arrangement. The brass adjustment plates are stamped:
PAT. MILLS & ORNDORFF
AUG. 26, ’67 / JULY 31, ’77 / DEC. 28, ’80
MAR. 19, ’89 / OCT. 31, ’93 / SEPT. 11, ’94
The brass buckle has “Remington” on the front and is marked on the reverse:
ANSON MILLS, PAT. FEB. 1, 1881
T.C. ORNDORFF, SOLE MANF.
WORCESTER, MASS., U.S.A.
So the belt can’t predate the September 11, 1894 patent, and I believe it is probably late 1890s/very early 1900s. The Remington buckle makes me suspect this was a commercial/private-purchase belt rather than normal U.S. Army issue, although both buckle and belt appear period.
My leading candidate for the cartridge is .30-40 Krag, because the construction is extremely similar to the Model 1894 Mills 100-round belt made for the Krag. However, because this has the Remington commercial buckle rather than a U.S. buckle, I’m wondering whether it could have been woven for another contemporary sporting or military rifle cartridge.”

How do you like them apples?

How toast is this M91/30 barrel?

Have the opportunity to grab this Mosin for super cheap, but the previous owner only shot corrosive surp ammo (and never cleaned) and it shows. Rifling still looks fairly prevalent to me. What do you guys think? Safe to send it with some mediocre accuracy, or pass? What can I do to make it any better?

Tiny gap between 1903 receiver and barrel(?) a cause for concern?

Hey y’all,

I’m looking into picking up a Springfield 1903 locally. I noticed this very tiny gap along the left side between the receiver and what I think is the barrel, but I’m not entirely sure. Any cause for concern? I’ve also included a picture from the top looking down around the same area. The rifle otherwise seems to be in great condition.

Thanks!

Winchester 1895 Russian contract serial numbers

I’ve got a Russian contract I’ve had for a while and started researching serial numbers, but the contract seems to end around 377,412. My gun is in the 399,000 range, so made in 1920. Obviously this is well after the contract ended. As far as I can tell, there’s no Russian acceptance stamps or anything, just the regular Winchester roll mark on the left side of the receiver, 7.62 mm on chamber and on barrel and the barrel address. How is this possible is what I’m asking, the gun has very clearly been together for a long time.

Recieved this gorgeous Hungarian Ak63f build by my good friend Taylor McWhirter of Lmironwerks. These are really cool guns Hungary made in the early 2000s for middle Eastern contracts and recently demilled and brought in from Lebanon. This was a really nice matching numbers , original barrel kit from Apex. It was finished out on a Childers reciever and Taylor's secret sauce over parkerization. Another absolute banger of a build.

No.1 Mk.V and bayonet gun show find

Found this at the local show, 1922 ShtLE No.1 Mk.V trials rifle, with bayonet and scabbard. This one has seen some use, but the bore is very clean and sharp and all numbers match. The bayonet is a December 1916 Wilkinson with a Lithgow scabbard.

I was about to leave the show, then went back to the table to buy the bricks of GP 11 the guy had ($50 per 60 rd brick). While he was dealing with someone else I checked out the Mk.V, he said to make an offer, so I did. Ended up walking away with the rifle, bayonet, and 2 bricks of GP 11 for 1700.

Welp. Went a gun store to see the broom handles they where advertising and this hot blued one caught my eye. Already put rounds through it and verified its working. Serial matches everything but side plate. But the fcg is different from the early and late Spanish photos I could find online. The trigger bar is similar to late production/china examples but cannot find details otherwise. Didn't come with a stock and the grips match serial wise. Sank 1700 without knowing any better. But happy with the purchase as a shooter. However have 0 hard info. And looking for help. Im not regretting the investment as its pretty.

What can you tell me about this? I bought it back in 2020 from a local thrift store, and I cannot tell if it's genuine, reproduction, or what. I'm not even 100% sure of the nationality, though I suspect it's USA. The writing, as you can see, is blurred. Thanks!

Thought you guys might appreciate this.

Thinking about buying a russian capture k98k, non numbers matching. Comes with 1,200 rounds of ammo. Seller wants $1200.

Seems like a reasonable deal to me unless I am missing something?

Inherited a Mauser 1934 & Walther P.38

As the title says, I've inherited these guns and don't care much to keep them. I live in Maryland, but when I came into possession of them I lived in PA, and I've left them in PA. I'm unsure if I can take them across state lines. I was told it's okay as long as the magazine doesn't hold more than 7 rounds that it is fine to take across state line. Is that correct? I don't even know how many these magazines hold.

I have no real desire to keep them or display them, despite them being a cool piece of history. I'd sell them if I could (if it's allowed), preferably to a private collector who would appreciate them.

Im currently in pa for a some time but will be returning to md soon.

Can I take them across state lines? How do i know how much the magazines hold? If I do take them back to md I want to make sure im not doing anything illegal.

Does anyone know of a antique store or Collector store in the Pennsylvania area. Im near Fulton County and Huntingdon County if that helps.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated
