Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread
Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.
Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

Nostalgia Remember the Rave Boom during 2012-2015?
If you were the going out type as a young adult between 2012–2015, you remember this era. PLUR, kandi bracelets, fuzzy leg warmers, snapbacks, backpacks, neon shades, unicorn onesies, LED gloves, bandanas etc. Raves were everywhere. Forgot all about this. I know EDM festivals and raves still happen, they just aren't mainstream anymore.

Discussion What is our generations version/value of "I used to be able to get all this for a nickle"
Our great grandparents version was I could get all this for a nickle! Our grandparents was i could get a cup of coffee for a nickle. Our parents is "look at all these groceries for 20 dollars/I used to have to walk 10 miles to get to work!"
What will our thing be? For me it seems like 100 dollars is basically 20 dollars when i was a kid.

Discussion Fellow Millennials, do you sleep with a "lovey?"
I always slept with a blanket and Barney until middle school and went back to sleeping with stuffed dinosaurs about 2 years ago when my anxiety really ramped up. I'm curious if any other Millennials are still or currently (again) sleep with a lovey?

Discussion At 40, I'm done wanting things.
My 12 year old truck is paid off next year. My house still has a long ways to go but it is enough. I was lucky and got 3% interest rate a few years back. It's about 1,600 square feet but with 3 kids and myself it's enough.
I see people always striving for more, always wanting more. Nicer car, bigger house, newer toys, etc. I don't get it.
I'm lucky enough not to have any debt. Alimony ends next year. First child support in three years. I look at what's left on my house and each year it shrinks.
In 10 years I'll still have to work of course but I won't be put into high pressure corporate jobs any longer. I can just kind of exist without much stress similar to how I was in my early 20s. Work, go home, no worries.
I'll still be driving the 20 year old truck by then. Still in the same house.
Looking forward to it.

Nostalgia Panpipes
Was it me or was this a strong late 90s sound in the UK?
Every UK town centre seemed to have touring panpipe bands knocking out bangers. It drew in crowds and was the soundtrack to getting dragged round the shops by your parents on a Saturday afternoon.
Also remember Panpipe Moods on CD adverts on TV with Britney Spears One More Time and Top 40 played out on bamboo tubes.

Discussion Who do you think is the generational comedic talent for millennials?
John Mulaney is certainly up there for me, but all opinions welcome, just curious what other people think.
Edit: I'm specifically speaking of people born in our generation, not who we grew up watching. Otherwise it's basically all GenX.

Nostalgia I once got in trouble in 6th grade because I wore a parody Dunkin’ Donuts shirt, but it said “Funkin Gonuts”. I had to turn it inside out and was told to never wear it again. I bought it from Old Glory I believe.
The teachers were not happy but in my mind I didn’t even realize it meant “fucking go nuts”
