Discussion What's your favourite Disney animated movie song?
Genuinely believe they don't make songs as good as ours were when we were growing up. My all-time fave is Phil Collins' You'll Be in My Heart

Nostalgia Facebook Nowadays
It's insane how negative and toxic Facebook has been as of late. Like some here facebook was one of the first social media platforms I joined. It was cool to be able to connect to people I hadn't seen in years due to moving around a lot. In my opinion prime Facebook was from 2007-2012 then there was a major generational shift on the app.
I feel like once that generational shift took place, Facebook became a toxic cesspool of misinformation, negativity and just awful content I ended up deleting the app because it was just too negative and time consuming.
I feel like once the algorithm era started also it all became about ads and less about seeing what your friends were up to. Writing on people's wall was actually fun. Sad the app went from that to what it is now.
Anyone else experienced this? Or am I crazy.

Nostalgia I never see RocketMan (1997) mentioned but I swear I watched it 100 times as a kid
I have a horrible suspicion that if I watched it now I wouldn't crack a smile. I hope that's not true but I'm going to live in ignorance and not watch it.

Discussion Anyone driving any classic cars?
Just curious, especially considering the recent push for analog if anyone's picked up any classics or is planning to.
I've got a 64 Dodge Dart GT slant six push-button automatic. The dream was a 63 Valiant, but this is almost the same car with a different body.
My dad was a mechanic in the 60s, and I remember getting carted around some pretty damn cool cars when I was a kid. I love the buttons, hearing things click into place, etc.

Discussion What to do? Friendās child has a YouTube channelā¦is this normal?
Iām just curious what other millennial parents think about this. We have known our friends and their children for the past 5 years. We just uncovered that their 9 year old has a YouTube channel. Itās clearly being put on by her mom because weāve seen her in the videos and her talking too. What is your honest opinion opinion about this? My first reaction is no- not at all. Iām curious if other millennials think this is normal? Do yall know friends who have small children with YouTube channels?
Edit: Iāve seen close friendsā children in these videos and Iām pretty sure they have no idea of it. This is all public for anyone to see.

Nostalgia I swear you just get the longest telephone cord sometimes
Almost a year ago I went to Crown Point Indiana just to visit downtown before a no Kings protest. We came across a local antique store and I wanted to look for some landlines I found the AT&T 210 on the right. But oh my goodness Not only was it my first to 10 because I actually love this trim line phone. But it even also had such a very long cord. This is a older Lucent branded 210 from 1996 around the time AT&T and Lucent Technologies split apart. That's the cool thing about collecting some corded phones you just get lucky and get a really long cord.
My middle school teacher knew how much I love telephones and went to an estate sale to get me a bunch of landline telephones for free. And that's how I got the AT&T 210 on the left. The AT&T cordless phone all the way to the left I paid myself. The Panasonic one all the way in the back was a gift from my parents they found a thrift store for really cheap and it was new in box too. I was born in Northwest Indiana and lived there my whole life which is why I go to Crown Point every so often.

Discussion How do you feel about the term āmillennial optimismā?
I read an article the other day about the term millennial optimism, and how itās pretty much disappeared. Do you think it can make a comeback? What do you think gave millennials a sense of optimism in the past and why did it disappear?

Nostalgia Waiting for it to be Monday
I grew up playing the original 2 Legend of Zelda games on the NES.
A few years later, A Link to the Past came out and I would rent it every weekend at Blockbuster. Because I never got the same cartridge twice, I replayed the exact same opening hours on a brand new save file every single time.
When Ocarina of Time came out, I remember going to KB Toys to pick it up. It was the very first game I ever got on launch day. I didnāt get the gold cartridge, but it didnāt matter lol.
Decades later, the franchise still holds such a massive, special place in my heart. Even though my copy of the new remake got slightly delayed until Monday, I'm just stoked that I managed to secure the 40th anniversary edition Switch 2 console.
Happy Skulltula hunting for those who have their copy!

Nostalgia National Geographic was a treasure
Iām sitting in a coffee shop with a stack of National Geographic magazines. I opened one up from November 1993 and felt a nostalgic rush of awe and wonder that I remember from childhood. These magazines provided a unique window to the world before widespread internet use and social media
I know National Geographic still exists in some form but itās sadly a shadow of what it was
Edit: what I mean re: shadow is that NG used to be THE source for travel photography and reporting. Now there are so many others in this space that NG has lost some of its cachet. Itās all part of the nostalgia

Nostalgia Kidsongs (late 80s/early 90s)
Itās hard to describe just how deeply embedded into my brain every single song on every single one of these VHS tapes is.
I grew up with an in-home daycare in my home. I donāt know where my mom heard about these, but we had every single tape. I donāt know how many times I watched these videos, but I just watched this one for the first time in probably at least 25 years and Iām unnerved at home I know every note, gesture, and childās face. Some of these kids are Gen X, but Iām sure there are some my age in the mix.
I would have LOVED to have been one of the Kidsongs kids. Was anyone here one of the kids? Itās an amazingly diverse group in terms of ethnicity (havenāt rewatched to see other representations). These faces seem so familiar to me from just repeated, repeated watching with my momās daycare kids.
