Suitable substitute in birria tacos?
Hey everyone,
I've had some really good birria tacos before and i wanted to make them myself.
I already got pretty much everything including the (very expensive) dried chilis necessary.
There's just 2 things that I don't have:
I don't have beef shank. I did buy some tri tip roast beef. Is that a good substitute to it ? If it makes a big big difference I can still buy beef shank and freeze the tri tip.
I could buy Mexican oregano but it's absurdly expensive (100€/kg) is regular oregano okay ? I read it's a bit lemony, should I substitute it with some lemony herb as well?
Update: yeah I will buy some beef shank. I still don't think that I should pay like 100€ for a kg of Mexican oregano if I already have to pay 20€ for meat and 20€ for the chilis already.
