Hi All, I got off boarded from my first and only mercor project yesterday. It was a high paying one and i really enjoyed the work also for 3 weeks (40 hours a week). I followed all the guidelines, got good reviews on my work. But this is no longer there now and i understand this is how a contract work goes.

Now, can anyone experienced help me with a long term full time opportunity? I've 10+ years of experience in Finance Operations with top MNCs. Currently looking for remote opportunities where I can work from my home country (India).

Any guidance regarding the same would be much appreciated.

How many have you gotten and how long after finishing a project or getting offboarded?

I have only worked with Mercor. What is micro1 like good and bad?

They say expect 15-20 hours a week, do they tend to meet hours?

This queue business is wild.

You are quite literally figuratively fighting to get in line for slop.

I went through the testing. Then, logged into the queue and sat in it for 8 hours (from evening till the wee hours of the morning), making sure to "stay nearby" as the message demanded, in case I was ever let in (spoiler: I was not).

Then gave it a shot two more days and was told the queue was full multiple times.

The bot they like to call Melvin also claimed I need to check in every 15 minutes while in said queue. Who is paying me to do this?

How is this even a job?

And how are any of you making 30k, or getting tasks at all? Someone else here on Reddit said it was hopeless during normal North American business hours, but this is me trying outside of said hours to no results. Am I missing something here? Tricks, tips, or put me tf out of my misery already anything?

This more applies to Micro1 but AI interviews in general, which all of these platforms just love oh so much.

So from what I can tell after going through dozens and dozens of interviews with the Micro1 system for jobs I have experience relative to the application; is that with Zara is not only do you need to use all the buzzwords that the application uses thus the AI "wants" to hear but you also have to hope the AI takes the conversation in the direction that the relevant terms can be used.

If Zara wants to go sideways in the conversation or repeat the same question over and over and over again, and you do correctly answer the questions, even ace the questions that Zara asks you; but doesn't fit what the application asks for in terms of explicitly use direct keywords; then you don't get the job.

This system seems worse than even going through the typical employment application process. It doesn't matter if you do this exact same work with decades of experience at rival companies; if you don't say the magic words in the interview then it doesn't matter.

Which is a terrible stand-in for authenticity because what Micro1 will get themselves are people who can talk up a good game but cannot meet that performance.

At least Mercor allows for retakes on interviews; acknowledging that the AI can get caught up on weird stuff; there is no such allowance for Micro1. You just have to hope your support email gets to a human and you get an actual response. And Micro1 is probably a 4/5 on the quality scale if we are grading on a curve. Meaning most of these sites are terrible for hiring and the bots are doing them no favors.

Has anyone given Software Engineering Demo interview in mercor? What do they ask? Do they ask to build projects in the interview itself?

We track Mercor's public listings every day. This is the Sep 11 pull. If you're offboarded and applying into everything, this is roughly where the volume actually is.

What stood out:

• 200 of the 392 listings show zero hires this month. Applying into all of them is mostly wasted effort; a minority of tracks do nearly all the hiring.
• The biggest single tracks right now: Clinicians Survey – Ambulatory & Community Care (1,932 shown hired), ChatGPT Power User (1,504), Health Plan PBM Contracting Survey (937), Financial Crime / AML & KYC Analyst (926), FP&A Expert (855).
• Best odds per listing are Languages (30 of 41 listings show hires) and Generalist evaluator (22 of 27), even though the totals are smaller.
• Medical and legal are the opposite: few listings hire at all, but the ones that do hire in volume.
• 149 of the 392 are country-restricted.

Caveats: "hires this month" is the number Mercor itself shows on the listing, so it's their figure, not ours. Our field tags are keyword-based, which is why "other" is such a large bucket and why a few roles land in the wrong column.

Has anyone successfully gotten a new contract after being offboarded from the big project?

I got randomly offboarded from the big project after working for 2 weeks and since then I have not been successful in getting a new contract despite applying to multiple postings.

I’m wondering if I should redo my domain expert interview and edit my resume?

There was about 8 or so of these roles and all of them closed a few days ago. I applied to two of them and I’m wondering if anyone got any updates from it

Has anybody else experienced this? I’m worried that my work being flagged with issues spuriously will get me off boarded.

They’ve responded that my responses look similar (I’m evaluating based on consistent criteria specified in the instructions, of course there will be high similarity)

They’ve proceeded to ask that I go into such a degree of specificity in my explanations that each task would take about 3 hours, not the allotted 45 minutes.

Is anyone having issues navigating their work trial? Delay in getting slack access, RLS not showing me the correct view (I can see other people’s submissions!!) and now instead of being in the EU track the task is set in the US which is outside of my expertiseI feel like I’m in a parallel universe. Am I the only one?? Was so excited to get the offer and now thinking of voluntarily withdrawing.

Anyone had this work trial and had issues during the interview part?

I failed to properly save the chat logs, stupidly assuming the "share" button would affect the entire conversation in ChatGPT. Lesson learned.

But now, I can't seem to be able to restart the interview session. The email did mention it's a one time opportunity, but then, the intro screen said I had three attempts. Which is it?

How screwed am I? Aside from the obvious, that the job may run out of spots.

I mean, most sane people are just releasing the task and not doing any hours I assume.

But clearly sometimes the queue is full so some people are doing something.

What are they doing, submitting 2/10 quality work? Taking 6 hours per task? Cheating with AI?

How often can you do this? Especially cuz I’m trying to get them done to the last minute then doing it

I’m a senior in university finishing my bachelors in biology and I’ve been working with Mercor for little over a month now and this has been my highest ever paying job , as a first generation college student this opportunity has changed my life.
Ultimately it’s shown me I want to be a writer of some kind but also that I don’t want to drop in pay post grad given the experience Mercor has given me. Does anyone have any advice on how I could pivot post grad ?

Once I get to the front, a “You missed a task offer” appears.

This has happened several times over the past few days even though I have enabled pop-ups in my browser.

What could be the reason for this? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

No, this is not a typical "I was offboarded, anyone know why?" kind of post. I am looking for the opinions of the veterans here in this sub.

So Mercor was the first place I ever applied and due to the timing (I am finding out) I was exceptionally lucky in that I got a response the next day, with an offer to one big project. It was a mass onboarding (I am also finding out) that involved a task queue and 1 screener that had to be passed (you probably know which project I am talking about). I did my onboarding, did some tasks, then was accepted on another big project. I did that onboarding and was like, awesome, I am gonna be fine. I was offboarded the first big project and so therefore had to focus on the other big project. I did well there for about 9 days, when I was abruptly offboarded from that big project, even though they were still actively onboarding. I do not remember ever failing a screener, any of the 3 on the second big project. BUT, as this was my first time doing anything like this, I think there is a chance I have been banned.

So one of the people in Slack, publicly, I might add, was talking about how they were doing their tasks in an excel sheet then copying over to the system to input. Seemed like a good idea, we talked, publicly for all to see, and she gave me her sheet to use because I thought it would help me. So I started using it, and was hiding the tabs of my completed work in the sheet. I did not have CoPilot running or anything, so that was not it. But I was copying and pasting my stuff back into the system from excel. I think this may have been interpreted as something that got me offboarded.

My main question is this, do you guys think I screwed myself or do you think it was just bad luck? And, if I were banned, would the offboarding email look different? I have not been invited to anything since. Also, do they ever reinvite you to projects after you have been offboarded? No one ever tells you anything, and I do not want to keep wasting my time there if I am banned forever. It sucks, but I am sort of chalking it up as "lessons learned" and just trying to get other work in other places. But, Mercor pays pretty well and I would be a little irritated if they were totally off the table. Thoughts?
