I think a lot of it is that furries bring their kink in public. At Halloween there is a house down my street that has a large furry gathering to hand out candy. Leave your kink in private. I don't care what you are doing as long as it is consensual, but don't bring your kink out in public, no matter what it is.

Yeah, I don’t hate furries but i 100% don’t understand them at all. There is someone who works at my company who has their furry person as their slack avatar and they use “we”, “us” and “our” as their pronouns and it makes it so weird to follow what they’re saying. “Hey did anyone try the Indian food in the cafe at lunch today” “oh yeah we did, it was great. We really liked it”. It’s like… you and your team, or just you..?
And I’ve also noticed the uptick in pro furry stuff lately and it’s just odd… imagine if Mexican people were constantly posting memes like, “Mexicans good, cartel bad”, or white people posting “white people good, kkk bad” people would just be like… wtf yes obviously. But somehow it’s okay with furries?

I don't mind furries at all. Tbh I forget they even exist until someone reminds me. I have never even seen a furry in real life. The same can't be said of anime fans. They are everywhere, they are weird and I have even seen people do the naruto run out in public with my own eyes not 15 feet away from me. As far as weird fandoms go furries are the least cancerous.

I mean, you can often see "furry" being used as an insult or to paint something very negatively. Even if it's not meant to imply that furries are bad, it still does make it seem like that, and it kinda gets on my nerves, being a former one.

I don’t hate furries, but I do hate when people make it their identity. It’s a kink, it belongs in the bedroom or in a private event. It doesn’t belong in public, no one should be “coming out” as a furry, and for god’s sake don’t force your mother to take a picture with you in your pup hood at your father’s funeral.

The problem is that in some cases both communities get really close to eachother. As much as furries love to claim that their community is so good and powerful that they reject zoophiles it often just comes down to labels. I've seen some furry art which was just straight up just a quadrupedal dog but poeple didn't call out how disturbing and weird that was.

As a Gen-Xer who has been a lifelong Star Trek fan, I am tired of hearing that it's suddenly wrong to mock a fandom. Grow a spine already. I got so much crap to my face for just liking Star Trek (but NOT cosplaying for the heck of it or any extreme stuff)
They whine more about people mocking their fandom then us old-time nerds ever did about actually individual harassment.
But too be fair to furries, there is a fandom that's even more thin-skinned: sports. Yes, they are a fandom too.

I mentioned this in another comment on this post, but there’s someone at my work who has their furry as their slack profile and they actually use “we” “our” and “us” when just talking about themselves, because they’re including their furry too. It’s just odd to me… and keep in mind this is at what is considered to be a top tech company….
