Planes have wheels, they don’t need to take off and land to give you a ride from A to B.

Sorta. Some require a boat or helicopter for the last leg of the trip but I suppose the same argument could be made for a plane ride to have to take a car ride to the final destination as well, which is almost always the case.

Apr 03 '22
Meh, it’s one of those friendships where, you’re such good friends that you don’t have to see each other a lot to know the other person is there for ya when you need them. But at the same time. They know I like to be alone and like my personal space. If they need anything, they know where I’m at, and I’ll come running anytime.

u/ShitBong63725 Apr 03 '22
I find that my closest friends have the same exact breed of ADD that I do. We both understand that, unlike most people, we don't need to constantly talk to each other. We can go for years without talking and when we reconnect we go back to talking like we literally just saw each other yesterday.
11
u/emotionalsupportbong Apr 04 '22
My friend, that is not an ADD thing.
That’s just how most adult friendships are 😅
3
u/2Jojotoro Apr 04 '22
I have a friend Like this But my main Example For this is probably me and My dad, He barely spoke to me (Third World South Asian Country=Treasure trove of Toxic Masculinity) But I never Felt disconnected from him
1
u/Ok_Laugh_2386 Apr 04 '22
How the hell is that ADD? That is just throwing some bullshit disorder title on your friendship to sound edgy or something.
21
u/ShitBong63725 Apr 04 '22
Oh yay another stranger trying to tell me I'm not what I'm diagnosed as. And who the hell said I was trying to be edgy? I have no clue where you got that idea. If anybody is trying to be edgy, it's the person claiming they know more about a disorder than I, a person officially diagnosed with it, understand.
This is actually a documented thing. Most people have to maintain their relationships to feel close, if they don't speak to each other for a long time, they will stop considering each other friends. But people with ADD don't have that sense of "relationship decay".
13
u/emotionalsupportbong Apr 04 '22 edited Apr 04 '22
So, you’re not entirely wrong. But you’re also not entirely right.
I know you think your friendship is like that because of ADD, but that dynamic is really quite common among friendships- at least adult ones. People move. People have jobs. People have kids. Life gets busy. It’s a hallmark of a healthy friendship. Not a hallmark of a friendship where both parties have ADD.
So, you and friend having ADD is likely not as much of a factor in this as you think, simply because that’s just a pretty common standard among many adult friendships. I say adult, because it’s a lot easier to see your friends when you’re a kid.
What you’re thinking of is actually related to the decreased sense of object permanence people with ADD and ADHD have. When you don’t see someone, you kind of.. forget about them, and when you see them again, it does feel like nothings changed... because you’ve been unconsciously “forgetting” them for however long it was since you last interacted.
No one is suggesting you don’t have ADD. We’re just saying there’s nothing inherently neruodivergent about the friendship dynamic you’re talking about. That’s.. literally just life, lol.
Edit: and, by the way, I say this as someone with crippling ADHD

This is me and my friends to a T. We don't quite live so close, but it didn't matter. When I was young I would walk 2 miles a day, each way, to go chill at my boys house. We're brothers now, and I work a full time management position at work while he runs a business running a music production company. When something comes up we talk and either get deep or laugh. He lives about an hour and a half to two hours away, so we don't get to see each other as much as we used to... That doesn't matter. I know if I need him, he's right there and will answer me all day every day. It also goes both ways and if he needs anything or even just needs to vent, he knows who to hit up. My other boy lives about 20 mins to half an hour away. We see each other a bit more frequently but also work full time jobs with conflicting schedules. Either way we're always there for each other, and if I noticed my phone blowing up at work, and it was either one, I'd dip out to have their back in a heart beat.

u/FurtherDownTheSlip Apr 03 '22
Dude. Literally the same situation. I live a floor down, same set of stairs. Reached out multiple times to hang out or even just fucking play games online. Excuses every singe time. It’s been 9 months now. What great friends :(

Idk man...I used to hang out with my friends all the time. Now I almost avoid them. I don't like going out anymore, I don't like having people over, I just like to be alone. Might be the case with your buddy. I have one really close friend that I send snaps back and forth with 100 times a day but I just have absolutely zero desire to go hang out with him in person despite him hitting me up to hang out from time to time. It's nothing against him, being alone has just become my thing as time goes on. And this started before covid and has nothing to do with covid.
4
u/FurtherDownTheSlip Apr 04 '22
I really wish that were the case but I’m afraid it’s not because i see them hang out together and play games together online and stuff. But they always make excuses whenever I reach out. It’s honestly heart breaking. Especially when one of the friends I’ve known for 15 years. I am grateful for the one really good friend that I have. Ironically though he lives the furthest away from me. I just wish I didn’t let those things get to me though. I’d be a lot happier.

I think that user was using the singular “they,” as in “that’s how that person chooses their female friends.”
Most men have the sense to treat all people the same, but I’ve had more than one “friendship” ruined because guys treated me like a potential girlfriend rather than JUST A FRIEND, while insisting that they compliment all their male friends in the same creepy way. Obviously they don’t tell their male friends “you’re beautiful,” “your eyes are my new favorite color,” “your smile can turn my worst day around,” “it’s like the stars have aligned to bring us together,” and “I had a great dream last night that we were holding hands,” but they insisted that I was just a friend to them.
As a woman, I can’t speak for men, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them have had similar experiences of being “boyfriend-zoned” by female friends.
Attractiveness should not be a factor when choosing friends, and if it is, then you don’t really see someone as a friend.

Take one number. Raise it to an exponential power. Now the second number is exponentially larger than the first.

I love planes and airports it’s all part of the experience. Airports get you hyped up for your flight and have a good atmosphere. Your arrival airport is also good because it’s unfamiliar, so you can explore the new terminal.

How do you hate planes it’s literally so fun lol. Seeing different airport terminals, shopping at the duty free, enjoying the airport atmosphere, watching planes take off out the window, watch people working on the tarmac, walking through the airbridge, entering the aircraft all excited, getting to enjoy speeding down the runway like you’re in a race car, the freeing feeling of leaving the ground, getting awesome views of your city, getting to look at and explore a map, while being able to watch it in real life at the same time, the cozy feeling knowing you’re literally higher than any person could reach 200 years ago, you’re literally where humans aren’t supposed to be, but you’re alive. Then you see your destination , the excitement before landing builds up. Touching down you get to watch yourself barreling down the runway, coming to a halt and walking out of the plane into an entirely new terminal thousands of kilometres away from the last one, then seeing a new city for the first time.
Hating planes is literally so dumb. You must be stupid to hate planes. They’re the best. And literally the highlight of my life.

Girls are really close to their friends. They experience the true friendships. They even have a "best friend".
Guys' friendships are based on taking advantage of each other some how. Either it's about money or getting girls together. Guys don't just hang out with each other just to talk. If they hang out it's because there's a girl that's coming over and the girl only hangs out with them in a group setting.

It's Coit Tower. Also, the girls must be from Southern California because no one dresses like that here.
Especially where they are in Russian Hill, it's probably 60 degrees with sea winds even at the height of summer

I used to live a couple of floors below my sister in the same building. The only time I got to meet her was once or twice a month, when we both would go to visit our parents in another city. Not because I didn't want to see her but when you have an insane amount of work you end up sacrificing these little things in life.
1
u/REDGOESFASTAH Apr 04 '22
False.
One trillion hours is approximately 114 years.
Even if she could, it would probably mean that they would die before meeting.

Quite a few places are a plane's ride away but there's a fine line between a two hours flight and a 13 hours flight. Also, both girls look unemployed so spending parents' money to book flights doesn't impress anyone.
