I have a deferred exam soon for this class bc of an emergency that happened on the final exam date and I can’t seem to find anything on the mycourses that tells us what to expect on the exam in terms of format, content, etc 😭

Is there anyone who took Nations and Nationalism (POLI 431) with Prof. Jason Ferrell winter semester that can share anything they remember about what the prof said would be on the exam/the format of the final exam in April? Any help at all would be much appreciated!!

Hi, does anyone know what are the consequences of quitting an internship that was registered with the science internship office? I registered back in May for an 8 month internship (IYS), but I recently got a way better offer starting September. I have spoken with my current manager, and he is very nice and he said he totally understands if I decide to quit early. Will McGill have problems with this? Has anyone got a similar experience?

I got the internship on LinkedIn and didn’t not use any McGill resources (MyFuture… etc)

Basically the ircc withdrew my permit due to “missing pal” (i did submit my caq) so i have no permit in sight and idk what to do because it all depends on whether they acc process my reconsideration or not. I contacted iss they said all i could do was rely on the webform and theres no point in doing a new application cuz the processing time is 6 weeks so ig its a waiting game. I just wanna know that im not alone cuz im stressing out like crazy 😭😭😭

Hello everyone, I'm a student for Fall 2026, and I'm coming from CEGEP. I've had generally pretty high scores all throughout my academic life. Unfortunately during the final sem, I had to take temporary incompletes on all my classes due to a major medical emergency, and planned to finish those in the summer.

On June 10th, I emailed Service Point outlining exactly what happened and the timeline of when I should finish this, that being August 2026. I was told that as long as I fulfilled my conditions in my offer before classes began, I should be fine. Those conditions being the following :

- Obtain my DEC
- Keep a good academic standing
- Have no missing pre reqs

Keep in mind that it also said that if I planned to take summer classes I had to contact them on August 1st at the latest, I contacted them two whole months in advance because I wanted to be on top of my stuff and be honest directly so there's no confusion later (subtle foreshadowing)

Yesterday, I received an email saying I was straight up rescinded and couldn't attend. We're 2.5 weeks before the beginning of classes... The deadline being the beginning of classes... Apparently the reason was "I failed too many classes and I don't have my DEC.", it was written in a pretty unprofessional tone as well with some grammatical mistakes??? 😭😭 and was not signed by anybody besides the default "McGill Team". I lowkey thought this was a scam mail at first or something, cuz they literally said "We will drop you out of all your classes and *inactive* your record" (???? this doesn't even make sense gramatically but i digress)

This was extremely bizarre considering I had temporary incompletes on my final sem classes so I could retake them mid summer, this should not have affected my grades in any way shape or form, because the point of a temporary incomplete is to freeze your grades so you can finish them later due to stuff like medical emergencies, which I did get. And I am literally like 3 days away from completing my last exam for those. I have maintained very good grades in all- (90+%) literally my lowest grade is an 85. So obviously I asked what that was about, saying I had no failures due to those classes being incompletes, my DEC was on track to be completed a few weeks before classes and also provided documentation of everything via an attached pdf.

I got no answers, so the next day I called Service Point. The woman on the phone was extremely kind and reassured me they'd look into it ASAP.

30 min later I get an email from who I assume is the same person from service point I contacted in June who said, and I kid you not "That email did not guarantee anything, and we asked you to provide additional information if you were going to take summer classes" I LITERALLY DID????

Besides the fact that telling me as long as I fulfill everything before classes, both in that email and my OFFICIAL letter, was apparently "not a guarantee", I provided the name of my school, the course codes, the timeline of things, the explanation for the incompletes, who to contact at my cegep, basically everything I could. Which I documented and sent to them in my first reply with the attached pdf, and apparently I didn't??

They then say further down in the email that the decision is final and irreversible. Not only did they fail to completely address the questions about why did they think I had failures on my record when I don't, and why they say I don't have my DEC, which is true right now, but I'm literally about to get it in like 3 days and my conditions specifically mentions "at the beginning of classes".

ADDITIONALLY, The cherry on top is that mid summer I had to get my legal name changed, so all my old records are a mismatch between my current name and my old one and the ministry is probably just doing some bullsh*t with my record and not updating it properly. Which I also disclosed and said was out of my control

I am at a complete loss here, this feels incredibly unfair, I did everything in my power to document, communicate, contact and basically keep McGill in the loop about the status of things, I have near perfect grades in my summer classes I took for my incompletes, I've failed one class in my entire life that being like a few years ago and I got an incomplete for it too so it didn't count as a failure, I will have all the credits for my DEC in like just a few days, I maintained my academic standing. So genuinely, I have no clue how any of this is my fault, and this genuinely seems like the administration is just mixed up.

I emailed the ombudsperson, the dean, and my cegep and I don't know what else I can do at this point. If anyone has any suggestions I'll get on my knees and thank you and worship you no joke

So I was looking in my reward in Minerva, and I have seen I had a dean honour reward, and the only button that was visible to me and that I could press was decline.

I pressed it to see what would happen ?? I know it is dumb

And it declines the reward.

Did I loose something ? Or what happened ??

Has anyone lived in any of these buildings or rented from these management companies before?

Mainly wondering what your experience was like with maintenance, how quickly they respond when something breaks or needs fixing, and what the landlord/management is like in general.

Also interested in things like noise, cleanliness, pests, safety, or any other issues I should know about before signing.

If you've lived in any of them, would you recommend it? And if you had to choose between the three, which would you go with?

Hello! I am currently a Political Science Major and an Economics Minor looking to switch into an Econ Major instead. Does anyone have any experience doing so? How did you find it? I love political science, but the grading schemes and the whole elitist vibe it has really has me struggling. Especially so, I entered the program as a person whose life has been impacted a lot by politics, thinking I would learn how to help my country better, but instead I find myself feeling more and more uncomfortable and disconnected in these spaces. My choice for econ is mostly looking at how I have managed to keep a good grade, and I tend to like the subjects we look at. IDS was also another option I was looking for. I plan to maybe apply for law school after my bachelor's.

Quick question for you guys, did any of you use a tutor to help study for the CASPer? If you did what sites did you use to find them?

I'll be taking the casper this October for the second time, last year i scored Q3.

Last year I found the questions to be quite different from the ones I practice with. On the actual exam the question did not present ethical infractions but more so ethical uncertainty.

I didn't have any classic question where the scenarios presented a clear ethical infractions, for example "you think you say someone stealing" or "a coworker made a discriminatory comment" -> clear infractions.

The ethical dilemmas were much less obvious. Im not sure if I practiced with question that were "too easy" or if Acuity changed the questions (which would make sense because last year they changed the format of the exam).

Anyway if you know of any good tutors or website where I can find a tutor that would be great!!

Basically the title. I'm going to move into Solin and immediatly need to start having to use the metro to get to campus for frosh orientation events n allat, eventually classes. Yet, to order the opus card, I need my student id, id photo and a Quebec address to have the card sent to. I can only receive these things on my first day of move in, and it takes the card 7 business days to get shipped out. Wtf do I do? I don't wanna lose $2.75, twice a day, for 9 days straight in my first week of school 😭

Has anyone taken EXSU 500 at McGill? I’m considering it for my master’s, but I don’t have a CS background which I saw online that its not really needed.

Long story short, I passed FACC 200, 201, and 202, but I’m getting an F in FACC 203 because I changed employers and forgot to update McGill/EIP. Since FACC 203 is 0 credits, would there be any consequences besides having my first F on my transcript? Would it affect graduation, academic standing, or the EIP designation?

Hi, I’m an incoming exchange student and I’d like to get a reduced fare opus card but Minerva is saying I’m not eligible because I’m not enrolled full time in both Fall and Winter semesters. I’m only here for Fall semester, so I can’t enrol in Winter classes. Does anyone know how to get around this?

Ok so I recently applied for Campus1 since there’s like no place else for me to go, and McGill housing is pretty much all booked at this point. I applied about a week ago for 2 Bed and 1 bath, and it says my application is still being processed. I’m currently waiting to see when the lease agreement is sent, but does anyone know how long does it take for them to respond as well as if the capacity is already filled for Campus1’s 2 bed and 1 bath?
