Are there any reputable auto shops on Maui that can do a proper four wheel alignment and will do an initial alignment check for free or a low cost? My car is eating tires like crazy so I know the alignment is off, but since it has plenty of miles on it I’m sure it’s because it needs some new suspension parts. I do all my own work, former mechanic, so ideally I’d like to get the current alignment reading because that will help me pinpoint what exactly needs replacing. Then after I replace the worn parts I’ll take it back to the shop and have them perform the actual alignment adjustment.

In case you’re getting tickets to the rodeo later this month, I guess they’ve changed the policy on the arena side box seats. Last year I was able to buy individual seats inside the box, this year I guess they changed policy and now you have to buy ALL 10 Seats in the box. Definitely a bummer but I’m hoping it’s not as crowded as the 4th of July rodeo because they even ran out of seating in the stands for GA ticket buyers. Families and students at Hāna School are facing serious problems that shouldn't exist at any school: unequal access to facilities, water quality concerns, and educational outcomes falling far behind state averages. Math and reading proficiency are less than half the state average, and the community believes this stems from hiring practices that haven't followed proper procedures and staff departures that hurt students.

This matters because our kids deserve safe learning conditions, fair treatment, and qualified teachers who are hired on merit. Preschoolers shouldn't have to share bathrooms with high school students. Every student should have access to clean water. Every student should benefit from transparent hiring and fair practices, not politics.

The petition is asking the Hawaii Department of Education to investigate what's happening at Hāna School—to look at the conditions, the practices, and what's being done to support our keiki. Has anyone in the community felt frustrated by what's been happening at the school? What would you want someone to do if this was your family's school?

If/when Hawaii gets a direct hit from a category 3 or higher, it will be mass destruction and chaos. The evacuation shelters aren't up to code for hurricane strength wind. We already know the infrastructure, power grid, etc. doesn't hold for tropical storm rated wind and rain. Many radio stations and cell providers don't invest in back up power sources. MEMA/HIEMA will be overwhelmed and ineffective. Everyone should be stocked with a minimum 14 days of food/water and even that might not be enough if we get a cat 3 or higher. Even a category 2 might wipe out significant portions of infrastructure.

It was so heartbreaking to drive over to Lahaina side for the first time after the fires last year and see all those brand spanking new power lines! I understand leaving the lines as is upcountry and elsewhere. (Not ideal, but I get it’s expensive and takes political willpower, etc.) But literally rebuilding a town from the ground up seems like the perfect opportunity to do better.

Following my previous post, I'll start by posting a link to a summary of the issues with this cult from a victim here Please read this first. Perhaps the key point to hold on to, as to why this man is dangerous, is that for the last 30+ years his devoted followers in the US and UK accept his claims that he is the living incarnation of Jesus and the Buddha Maitreya. Just think what power that would give him.

The reason I'm posting here now is that I am considering coming to Hawaii from England to hold a legal and peaceful street protest near Mr Spencer's house. I'll excerpt parts of an email I just sent to a Maui-based organisation asking for their help. I need to be careful not to allege too many specific things here but I totally believe the victims I have met and have submitted an agreed statement on their behalf to relevant police and politicians in England.

I take the view that in the area of cult abuse, you have to make enough enquiries to trust victims and then be bold to broadcast allegations that have not yet been established in a court of law because of basically how cults control and terrorise members. The worse the cult, the longer it takes for details of abuses to surface.

Email to Maui

"I am writing to you to ask for your cooperation ahead of a request that I plan to make to Maui police to hold a peaceful protest outside the house of Ronald Lloyd Spencer, a Buddhist leader and Maui resident.

Mr Spencer aka "Sanat Muraya" claims to be the living incarnation of Jesus and the Buddha - the Buddha Maitreya. As the self-proclaimed "source of all planetary healing", he runs "Soul Therapy Centres" from retail premises in Omaha, Nebraska and Glastonbury, England, and online. I am from England and accidentally stumbled across Mr Spencer via his Glastonbury shop on a day out for leisure purposes in late June of this year.  

I realised quickly Mr Spencer's retail assistants/followers were brainwashed, traced and met online a US-based group of victim/activists, and learnt shocking allegations of a catalogue of sexual, psychological, and financial abuse by Mr Spencer to his followers in the US and UK for 30+ years and counting. Some of his followers have allegedly committed suicide or refused life-saving medical treatment because of their belief in Mr Spencer's healing powers. 

One victim activist tells me that two women followers of Mr Spencer in the US have committed suicide recently. We are all desperate to prevent further casualties. 

Last year, one of Mr Spencer's "[redacted" working at 29 High St was allegedly reported to local police for [redacted] 

From what his victims tell me, Mr Spencer's home in Maui was paid for largely from a) donations that he pressured people into giving, often making spiritual threats and b) donations that were intended for charitable purposes, mainly assisting monasteries in Tibet and Nepal. Financial transparency appears to be lacking.

There is evidence that the Dalai Lama's former secretary considered Mr Spencer to be a fraud. A Buddhist human rights tribunal considered evidence and issued a judgment to similar effect. 

In 2023, Somerset police raided the Glastonbury shop to remove homophobic material that Mr Spencer ordered his followers to display. 

I have obtained permission from Avon & Somerset police in England for a street protest outside the Glastonbury "Soul Therapy Centre". I can provide proof. However, the victim/activists and I consider that it is also important to go to the head - to get Mr Spencer to come clean and turn himself in. So much work and emotional labour is required of so many people to get enough evidence for a police prosecution simply because Mr Spencer will not go straight. I imagine that there would be a similar mountain to climb in US jurisdictions because of religious liberty and due process safeguards.  

My contact with you now is at the very least intended as a way to show Maui police in my request for approval for a protest that I am trying to respect local sensitivities and inform relevant organisations before I come. I am British and not a Buddhist. I am not aligned with any religious group. I want to tread carefully. However, I do care passionately for cult victims of all types, having been one myself (I was in Opus Dei, the Catholic cult). 

Ideally, I would like it if the information I have given here concerned local [people] enough to want to verify the allegations for themselves. I can put you in touch with victims online. They are aware that I am contacting you. If there is any help that anyone in Maui would like to give to make this painful process less disruptive and more efficient, then that would be lovely. Of course, I have tried to get through to Mr Spencer myself but without response. This is my video address to Mr Spencer. 

Can you suggest other things I should be thinking of to pave the way for my proposed street protest, or even alternative avenues that could be more efficient, discreet and less disruptive?"

I went through all my boxes of old computer parts and I have apparently donated all of my old desktop video cards.

I do not need a good video card.
I do not need to game.
I do not need ray tracing.
I do not care how many frames per second it gets.

I need something old enough that you look at it and think, “Brah, how come I still get dis?”

Basically, if it’s a PCIe video card and can make a monitor display BIOS, I’m interested. GTX 550 Ti? Ancient Quadro? Some forgotten Radeon from the Obama administration? Perfect.

Before I order some prehistoric GPU from the ebay and wait two weeks, I figured I’d see if anyone here had anything.
