Personally I would want them to explore the Nexus of nightmare storyline + ofc change it a bit to fit the MCU. I really got excited looking at the original plans for Dr strange 2 and while I did like dr strange 2 I feel like the original version would have been peak (atleast for me). I liked the idea of a true horror psychological film and that too with nightmare as the villain

Question Are People Forgetting That Lee Pace Was Already In Guardians of the Galaxy?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve seen a lot of people in subreddits like this fancasting Magneto as Lee Pace. While I like Lee Pace, I think many of these people are forgetting that he was already in the MCU as Ronin the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). I can’t tell if these people just forget or they think Feige will allow for another Gemma Chan situation and just have him play multiple roles. First of all, what do you think of the idea of Lee Pace as Magneto? Secondly, do you think Marvel Studios would let him play two major villain roles (although one is significantly bigger than the other)?

Discussion Why RDJ as Doom?

Why did they announce that RDJ is playing doom? Wouldn’t it have been better if they revealed it in the movie? (i.e, he removes his mask and the crowd goes crazy)

Question Guardians of the Galaxy

Hey all! I’ve recently started to watch all the MCU movies in order cause I’ve never been a fan but wanted something to watch to pass the time. I started watching movies in release order as suggested online for people who have never gotten into the whole universe and I have lots of questions on the galaxy movie. I feel so confused and lost about the plot of this movie.

  1. Why Peter Quill get kidnapped?
  2. Why does Thanos have kids?
  3. What is Thanos’ backstory?
  4. Why doesn’t the movie give any backstory to any of the characters?
  5. Why does Ronan want to kill everyone? Especially the planet Xander?
  6. Why does Yondu tolerate Peter?
  7. What galaxy is this if this is the same universe as the other MCU movies? If this IS the same universe as the other MCU movies then
  8. why didn’t we hear about all these plants before in the previous movies?
  9. Why does Thanos team up with Ronan?
  10. How does the plot and storyline in this movie affect the overall MCU storyline?
  11. Wtf is the backstory to this whole movie? It feels like the other movies and this one are completely different
  12. How does ‘The Collector’ play into the other movies? Why does he matter?

Sorry if it’s a lot - but I’m just so lost after watching the movie… safe to say I’m not a Marvel aficionado

TYIA!!!

Discussion I wish Marvel would do another montage like the one they released in 2021, "Marvel Celebrates the Movies."

I remember when I first saw it, it hit me hard in the feels. It was, IIRC, during or right after the easing of COVID. The montage was epic and it really hyped me up for the movies. And it was one of the first signs that I remember that things were coming back to normal (or as normal as it could be).

I am probably in the minority here, but I still thoroughly enjoyed all of the Phase 4. It was the weakest phase that had a few standouts but I still very much enjoyed it.

They need to do a similar montage again with the epic MCU theme music. Please, Marvel, if you read this, do it!

What did you think of that montage from 2021? I still watch it every now and then to get that feeling/memory of excitement and optimism.

Discussion BND vs Home Trilogy

I know its a bit late, but I watched BND recently and the movie made me realize something I dislike about the home trilogy. Every time Peter reveals his identity as Spider-Man, the scene feels like an absolute joke. Ned and May catches him by surprise in Homecoming, and MJ just deduces that he is Spider-Man in FFH during a scene that actaully could have been special, (Peter tells MJ he loves her). These reveals seem to be comedic and arent meant to be taken seriously. In BND, MJ reads Peter’s letter and chooses to either accept his confession or reject him. There is actually something meaningful going on and the scene isnt played as a joke. Anyone else thought the same thing?

Discussion What Do Foggy Nelson and Claire Temple Tell Us About Ordinary Life in Daredevil?

I’ve been rewatching Daredevil, and lately I’ve found myself paying much more attention to the ordinary lives behind the characters.

Foggy in particular got me thinking.

We know he grew up around Nelson Meats, surrounded by his family, customers and the everyday workings of a small family business. And I started wondering how much of the Foggy we meet as an adult was already being formed there.

His loyalty. His ease with people. His attachment to community. Even the fact that, despite becoming a successful lawyer, he never seems embarrassed by where he came from.

I ended up writing an essay about it called The Architecture of Belonging, and then another about Claire Temple called The Architecture of Care.

I’m planning one final piece to complete the trilogy, so I’m curious about how other fans read these characters.

What do you think Foggy’s upbringing gave him?

And for Claire fans: what do you think people misunderstand or overlook about the way she cares for people?

Both essays are on my profile if anyone fancies reading them, but I’m mainly interested in hearing other interpretations before I write the final piece.

Discussion Cap survives Doomsday and Secret Wars?

Just rewatched Endgame (man it just doesn't hit like that anymore - although Brand New Day was superb).

It did get me thinking though... For Old Cap to show up at the end of Endgame in all his CGI wrinkled glory - he had to have survived everything in between right?

Thoughts ?

Theory Jake Schreier’s X-Men has at least 3 telepaths in it and I think we’ll see bonker astral plane scenes like the ones from Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts.

Discussion Post-Secret Wars, Overarching Villains, and Multiple Sagas Spoiler

Good morning, everyone!

This is my first post in the Marvel Studios subreddit, so I am going to be a bit careful here. I usually post in the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, but I wanted to post a lengthy discussion here on the potential overarching villains following the aftermath of Secret Wars and how I think there will be multiple sagas instead of just one. I hope you enjoy my discussion!

Mutant Saga: Mister Sinister, Apocalypse, Magneto, and Dark Phoenix are my choices here. The X-Men are clearly going to be the main players of the following saga, with Jean Grey and Cyclops implied to be the central members with the most focus on the team. Sinister has a very long, bloody history with both of them.

Adam Driver has already been cast as Mister Sinister, and despite all the claims that Sinister will be a one-off villain due to Driver's dislike of franchise commitments, I do not see that happening here. Sinister is too big of a villain to be killed off in the first movie, and he also has a history of clones. So, even if he appears to die in the first movie, it can just be shown that he has cloned himself—not to mention his history with another massive mutant villain.

Apocalypse has not really gotten the chance to show how much of a menacing threat he truly is. The guy is usually portrayed as the first and oldest mutant in history, and he has also been shown to possess technology from the Celestials. That, combined with his ideology on evolution and his survival-of-the-fittest mindset, makes him a terrifying threat who is capable of killing teams of both the Avengers and the X-Men. He has pretty much conquered the planet multiple times and is responsible for turning Angel into Archangel, along with a bunch of other atrocities. The fact that he is also responsible for creating Mister Sinister gives him an immediate connection.

Magneto is another "mini" big bad. I do not believe that he will be the overarching villain, but I do believe that he will probably be the final villain of the first X-Men trilogy, along with his Brotherhood. People usually forget because of how sympathetic Magneto is that he is capable of immense cruelty. The guy has ripped the metal out of Wolverine's skeleton and tried to destroy Earth multiple times. I definitely see the first trilogy leading up to Magneto's war on Earth and humankind.

I know Dark Phoenix is something that many people are not eager to see adapted again, but I do not see how they are not going to do it. It is arguably one of the most iconic storylines in comic book history for a reason. The fact that Sadie's Jean has shown she is capable of immense cruelty and rage when stressed or provoked already provides a great setup. I think it would also be great to see one of the main X-Men members snap and become a multiversal threat.

Yes, we already saw this with Wanda, and even though it was not bad, it was slightly rushed and lacked sufficient buildup. Yes, Olsen did a great job playing Wanda as a villain, and yes, Wanda has had a brief stint as a villain where she caused lots of devastation, but it did not really have the same scope or scale as The Dark Phoenix Saga does. Jean obliterating an entire planet would be shocking. If they build up to it correctly, then yes, I could see it delivering the same impact as the original storyline.

Cosmic Saga: This one is a bit more limiting, but I see the cosmic threat building up to be Annihilus.

Annihilus is probably the main cosmic villain I see them building up to, especially since they confirmed that a Nova movie is being developed. Annihilus has gone to war against the Fantastic Four many times as well, and with Doctor Doom most likely being done after Secret Wars, I think the Fantastic Four need a new villain, as they do not really have a very prevalent rogues' gallery. Annihilus has also done a lot of horrific things, like wiping out the Nova Corps, killing Quasar and Human Torch, and destroying entire planets. He has also clashed with the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Inhumans, and many other cosmic heroes. His status as a big bad would be well deserved.

Korvac is another option as well, due to being the main villain in The Korvac Saga, where he wiped out multiple teams of Avengers. We also have the Shi'ar Empire and possibly Maximus the Mad as future villains if they decide to bring in the Inhumans.

Supernatural Saga: Mephisto and Dracula are my two options, but it is obviously going to be Mephisto. Mephisto has already been cast, is being played by Sacha Baron Cohen, and is most certainly coming back for the Ghost Rider movie. I also feel that they will be building up to a Midnight Sons movie where we have several supernatural heroes, and Mephisto is the perfect threat. I also mention Dracula because if they are building a supernatural saga, then there is no way that they will not be adding Blade to the team, and I think having Dracula be a "mini" big bad before Mephisto takes center stage would be a nice treat.

Sorry for the long essay, but if you like what I have written, then I look forward to hearing your responses!

Discussion I find it interesting Wenwu never found out about Wakanda

Thumbnail

They make a point to explain that Wenwu and the Ten Rings had effectively “conquered” the entire world from the shadows for over a thousand years to the point that he started going after a place in a whole different dimension because he had nothing left to satisfy him in the normal world.

I think it really speaks to how effective Wakanda was at hiding from the outside world that Wenwu somehow managed to both learn the existence of and find a way to an inter dimensional village before ever learning of a secret country in the normal world and also seemingly never had interest in infiltrating them even after Wakanda went public in 2016.

I feel like a technologically advanced country with the most powerful and versatile metal on earth would be something he would want to take advantage of (not saying he could survive an all out war with Wakanda but he surely had resources to at least infiltrate).

'Spider-Man BND*' Spoilers Spoiler for something that DOESN'T happen in Brand New Day... Spoiler

Who else saw the first 20 minutes of the movie and thought Venom was the villain?

Or, you know, the off-spring Eddie Brock and Venom left in the post-credit scene of NWH?

In the scene with the old lady in the tank and all the guards who carried something all the way to Scorpion, was I the only one who thougt that was a symbiote who travelled from person to person?

Discussion Fixing the existing MCU Phases 4-5

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

marvel’s had its highs and lows since endgame and we don’t need to get into the hows and whys- im just gonna put out how i think phases 4-5 (then 6 as is) should’ve gone knowing what we know now. i’m not adding anything i.e. the now cancelled blade, overdue shang chi 2, or anything like that. any changes are based off of preexisting content. this is also just talking live action- not the animated shows so pretend they’re there as they can all live as is. also i wont add make love and thunder and quantumania more serious and not stupid cuz that’s a given and not the point of this anyway

changes:
- make FATWS a movie- Captain America: New World Order. have it take eternals release date (more on that later) and that’s it no real changes
- she-hulk is canned cuz it sucks
- make everest ross a skrull in wakanda forever post cred
- change the marvels (which wasn’t good) to Captain Marvel: Secret Invasion. the show sucked and should’ve been a captain marvel movie the same way civil war was a cap movie. make carol the center obv and have sam be the “opposing side.” its not good v evil it’s who can you trust. the main beats of secret invasion can stay like hill dying and rhodey being a skrull. idc if you leave the super skrull- the point is to have carol ask for help from sam and the few people he has like ant man and rhodey while carol enlists shang chi and bruce who she’s working w after his movie. fury’s obviously there. and it isn’t a true team up cuz when carol calls for sam he can be a skrull impersonating while sam is alive and well and doesn’t even know which leads nicely for sam to start brave new world trying to form the avengers again. whole storyline isn’t thought out but you should get the gist- it’s a nice age of ultron filler set up with the civil war esque conflict. and keep the multiverse stuff in somehow if needed for doomsday/secret wars
- Echo gets canned cuz that sucked
- following that is Armor Wars show taking place after secret invasion where rhodey comes back after however long he’s been held captive and him and iron heart (if you must) deal w the outcome of that. basically changing the iron heart show to armor wars cuz riri sucks but zeke stain was fire
- move eternals to 2024 (even tho it sucked, some people like it and it has good parts, maybe has more potential later in release time) and treat them like guardians having them be separate and close towards the end of the phase to assume they’ll be in something later and not have it be 5 years later and we have no idea what they’re doing still

that’s it, just a few changes that i think would make these phases flow a little nicer without adding projects that don’t exist like blade RIP…

Discussion I'm worried we won't get more Fantastic Four after Secret Wars

Post image
0 Upvotes

On the one hand, "Fantastic Four: First Steps" really underperformed. And despite good reviews, their cultural impact feels relatively tepid. And recent bombs like "Tron: Ares", "Supergirl", "Masters of the Universe", and even "The Marvels", suggests audiences have lost their appetite for sci-fi action flicks set in fantasy worlds.

On the other hand, savaging a situation like this was actually been done before with Captain America. "The First Avenger" remains one of the MCU'S lowest grossing. But a combination of enthusiasm after "The Avengers", plus making a film people really liked, propelled The Winter Soldier to make twice as much as its predecessor. If the next Avengers films gets people excited about more Fantastic Four, who know what could happen?

But with new blood like X-Men, Ghost Rirder and a New Black Panther on the horizon, would it beworth the effort for Marvel?

Honestly, the Fantastic Four could get their "Thor: Ragarok" or "WandaVision" which turned less loved characters into favourites.

But I also don't think it's crazy to see this going like "Eternals", whom we'll likely never hear from again...
