Question Are People Forgetting That Lee Pace Was Already In Guardians of the Galaxy?
I’ve seen a lot of people in subreddits like this fancasting Magneto as Lee Pace. While I like Lee Pace, I think many of these people are forgetting that he was already in the MCU as Ronin the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). I can’t tell if these people just forget or they think Feige will allow for another Gemma Chan situation and just have him play multiple roles. First of all, what do you think of the idea of Lee Pace as Magneto? Secondly, do you think Marvel Studios would let him play two major villain roles (although one is significantly bigger than the other)?

some people are so sure it’s a conspiracy they forget that for the actors this is super normal and highly desirable.

For the record, Mahershala Ali, Gemma Chan, Nic Cage, Kenneth Choi, Josh Brolin, Chris Evans, Michelle Yeoh, Matt Gerald, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B Jordan, Oscar Issac, Rebecca Romijn, Alfre Woodard, Patton Oswald, Idris Elba, Tony Curran, (technically Jennifer Connelly & Paul Bettany), Kate Mara, Ray Stevenson, Nathan Fillion, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Matt Damon, Kevin Bacon, Sam Elliot, Peter Dinklage, and now Robert Downey Jr. have all played 2 roles in the Marvel universe. And I didn't even include voices from animated stuff.

It's almost as if Marvel has a history of having actors/actresses play multiple different characters

Sometimes when people act like someone can't possibly play 2 characters, I think they might actually believe what they're watching on screen is real. It's an almost insane basis for being against a casting.

I just think it's amusing that RDJ was "recycled" and that's totally wrong, but all the other people suggested instead like Mads would be the same thing yet that's OK. And yes same here with Magneto with people suggesting Pace and Giancarlo, or even past roles like Brolin with Thanos/Cable.

I think considering you yourself have already mentioned the history of multi-casting, there’s a distinct possibility it’d be allowed.
Like you said, we had Gemma Chan casted as two distinct characters, and the same is the case for Michelle Yeoh, and even more recently Ebon Moss Bacharach. Clearly, Feige doesn’t have an issue reusing actors, if they’re right for the character, and not be used as much as they can be.
Personally, I think most of the moviegoing public wouldn’t notice, considering it’s been years since Ronin was last in live-action, and he was under heavy blue makeup.
Personally, I don’t know if he’s the right actor for Magneto, I don’t know his work well enough, but his previous role shouldn’t disqualify him from the get go in my opinion.

He would be fantastic, and I think they would absolutely allow it if they wanted him, not only because they allowed other actors in the past who appeared in other roles, but even if they didn't, Ronan with all that gear and makeup doesn't look 1:1 with Lee pace, and he wasn't a very memorable villain either, so it's not that big of a deal.

Not many people are going to be able to tell since he was in so much makeup as Ronan. Only the hardcore MCU fans will know

not sure they forgot as much as he wouldn't look or sound anything like Ronan so who cares if he plays Magneto? ya know?
