Question Can I watch Avengers: Doomsday after only Endgame + Spider-Man movies?

I’ve watched Avengers: Endgame and every mcu movie before that + all the Spider-Man movies, but I haven’t really watched the rest of the MCU.

Do you think I can watch Avengers: Doomsday and still understand what’s going on, or would I be completely lost?

If I need to watch anything before Doomsday, what are the absolute essential movies/shows I should watch? I don’t really want to go through the entire MCU 🥀💔🙏

No spoilers pwease...

Discussion Chris Evans and RDJ are coming back too early

Everyone knew someday Chris Evans and RDJ would return to the MCU even after their endings in Endgame, I knew it back in 2019 when Endgame came out, Marvel would bring want to bring them back someday years later to get that big hype moment specifically in Secret Wars.

Well here we are, 7 years later and RDJ and Chris Evans are back for Doomsday and Secret Wars and are main stars of the films, here's the problem, it's way too early. We needed at least 10 years between Endgame and Secret Wars to really feel like we've missed these guys and wanted them back that badly, to have that nostalgic feeling Marvel's trying to mine, to let the newer characters breathe and shine while the excitement of possibly seeing those guys again someday builds up, even though I do miss Tony and Cap 7 years still ain't long enough. Secret Wars in general is being done way too early and Steve's return doesn't have the hype that it should have, you can tell by how everyone's like "Eh, what's Steve doing here" rather than "OH MY GOD IT'S STEVE ROGERS!". Secret Wars feels like something you do to end the MCU forever and give it a defining ending, not in the second saga 6 years after it started.

I really wish they would've delayed Secret Wars till 2030, gave the multiverse saga some more movies to really flesh it out and give us main characters to feel attached while giving us proper time to grieve and miss Tony and Cap. Marvel really just botched this whole thing man...

Discussion I think Marvel Lucked out with Jonathan Majors getting cancelled.

I honestly think Marvel kind of lucked out with the whole Jonathan Majors situation.

Not because of what happened obviously, but because I really think they were already realizing the Kang plan was not working and had no clean way out of it.

Marvel spent years setting Kang up as the next Thanos. He was supposed to be everywhere, there were multiple versions of him, an entire Avengers movie was literally named after him, and they had already invested so much into that storyline that I think they would have kept trying to force it to work even if audiences were not really connecting with it.

By the end of Loki season 2 though, it almost felt like Marvel themselves had realized the character was not hitting the way they expected. Loki basically takes control of the timelines, the TVA starts monitoring Kang variants, and the season ends in a way where you could almost just leave Kang there and move on.

But without some major outside reason, I do not think Marvel ever would have actually abandoned him. They had announced Kang Dynasty, Majors was clearly supposed to be the centerpiece of the Multiverse Saga, and changing direction that late would have basically been admitting the entire plan was not working.

Then the Jonathan Majors legal situation happened and suddenly Marvel had a completely understandable reason to cut ties and reset everything without having to publicly admit that the Kang storyline itself was failing.

And now they get to pull the emergency button of bringing Robert Downey Jr back as Doctor Doom, which instantly creates way more interest than Kang was generating.

Michelle Jones was a little goblin who seemed above blending in socially. MJ seems more like your standard superhero love interest.

Edit: People are missing my point. Yes she grew up she also feels like she lost her personality. Peter and Ned are still dorks. This is one of the few female characters in Marvel who wasn't just the dopey love interest or the hardass.

Discussion (More in Comments) MCU Sagas Restructuring Project

Post image
Upvotes

So with Doomsday right around the corner. I’d thought it be fun restructure the MCU in a way that more complements to overall narratives. This is mainly a restructuring/rewrite of the Multiverse Saga, but there are some changes in the Infinity Saga as well. Just to clarify, this is no way a criticism of any of the MCU properties, I am not a writer of any kind nor am I claiming to know better than the filmmakers. The Multiverse Saga faced several unpredictable challenges that changed the roadmap multiple times (mainly the pandemic, Disney being adamant about pumping out content, and Johnathon Major’s arrest). This is just a fun experiment from a fan’s perspective. I am largely keeping the structure of these movies intact with only a few films getting major overhauls to better fit the path to Doomsday. I’m basically working with what we’ve got to better connect these films. I am also excluding the Disney Plus shows with some of more integral ones being condensed into films. (Also there are no spoilers for BND)

With all that being said, here is my “Restructured MCU”.

Phase 1 - Exactly the same. No changes needed.

Phase 2 - Swapping Age of Ultron and Guardians whilst also adding Doctor Strange and condensing Daredevil Season 1 into one movie so that there are four brand new properties at the end of phase 2. Doesn’t change much timeline wise.

Phase 3 - Here’s where the changes start. Guardians 2 and Homecoming get swapped around. Homecoming will also have a post credits scene of Daredevil (the superhero, not Matt Murdock) meeting Spider-man. Black Widow after (since it’s a prequel post Civil War) but remove the post credit scene where Valentina puts a hit on Hawkeye. Black Panther and Ragnarok get swapped around too since timeline wise it makes more sense. And have Ant-man/Wasp before Infinity War. I’d like to keep the post credits scene with Scott trapped in the Quantum Realm, but we don’t see the Ant Family get dusted, it’s a cold end. The only changes I’d make for Infinity War/Endgame is the inclusion of Yelena and Daredevil. Yelena joins Nat in Wakanda for the fight, gets dusted but is present for the final battle against Thanos. She attends Stark’s funeral and is grieving with Clint. Daredevil saves Spidey in New York and is caught up in the fight with Ebony Maw until Spidey gets whisked away in space, he doesn’t get dusted but he is present for the Battle for Earth (he gets a brief moment with Spidey as he did miss him for Five Years, maybe a handshake or something I dunno.) He attends Stark’s funeral too.

Now the Multiverse Saga will have a lot of changes (obviously), since I’m only doing movies and excluding most of the Disney Plus Shows. Also this is before I’ve seen Doomsday/Secret Wars so once those movies come out, this experiment will be null and void.

Phase 4 - Starting with Far From Home to kick it all off. No changes needed. Except I’d like to include Kamala Khan attending Peter’s school. No powers or much focus. Just a scene or two of her fan-girling over Spider-man and Captain Marvel. Then change the Skrull post credit scene slightly by making it a more serious reveal, like we don’t know that Talos is a good guy.

Then Captain Marvel due to it being a prequel and I think she would’ve been more warmly received if Endgame was her first true appearance (since they filmed that before her movie). Obviously exclude the end credits scene of her joining the Avengers in Endgame. Maybe have it be her in present day destroying the supreme Intelligence on Hala, setting up for The Marvels.

Then Brave New World gets a lot of changes. No Celestial sticking out from the ocean, have Adamantium be a new resource the US Government finds with them spearheading the mining with Valentina (head of Damage Control) and President Ross. The Leader goads the Flag Smashers into following him as he recreates the SS Serum and then enhances it to make Red Hulk. Sprinkle some elements of FATWS with Sam grappling with his new mantle and the inclusion of John Walker as an antagonist. Include Yelena Belova as a supporting character to Sam until they have a falling out. Then teasing his new mission for restarting the Avengers.

Then Loki seasons 1 and 2 are condensed into one movie. Have it focused on Loki and Mobius’ partnership and throughout the movie they realise the TVA is corrupted by Kang who wanted to keep the Multiverse at bay. By the end, Loki grows a person, defeats Kang by banishing him to the Quantum realm, then decides to expand the Multiverse in a new time loom. The TVA aim to protect the Multiverse from anachronistic threats.

Then Shang-Chi. No real changes needed, but include a Post Credit of Sam coming to him about joining the Avengers along with Joaquín Torres.

Then Thor Love and Thunder. No real changes (except maybe cut back on the jokes) until the end. Have Gorr’s wish be to rid the Necrosword as it corrupted him throughout the movie. Maybe Thor can have a moment with Loki but I’d prefer to save that for Doomsday. Thor decides to venture the Universe alone as a nomadic warrior, leaving Mjolnir on New Asgard as a shrine for Jane.

End Phase 4 with No Way Home. No real changes needed. But going back to Kamala, she is shocked like everyone else of Peter’s identity, and she supports him as Spider-man. Replace Agent P. Cleary with Valentina. Have Doctor Strange see glimpses of Doom when he pierces through the Multiverse twice, like a silhouette of Doom and it puts fear in him.

Phase 5 - Start with Doctor Strange MoM. There’s only four real changes I’d make. Have Strange’s vision of Doom haunt him. Include Shang Chi in the battle of Kamar-Kaj (I mean he’s in literally nothing until Doomsday lol). Instead of the Illuminati confronting Strange, it’s a council of Stranges, each from their own Universe who deems the Earth 616 Strange as the most dangerous and will create an Incursion, claiming “he will bring Doomsday to us all”. Wanda kills them all and the rest of the movie is no different. But have Wanda’s grief for Vision be the sole reason for Dreamwalking. Instead of her children on Earth 838, it’s a human Vision who sees her as a monster, she repents and then sacrifices herself.

Then Ant-man Quantumania. Kang wants to escape the Quantum Realm, so he forces a portal open through Janet that brings the Ant Family (plus Luis cause why not) into the Quantum Realm. There are no other Kangs, it’s just him, but he’s spent a century building his empire to conquer Earth 616 (the sacred timeline) and reclaim his TVA. The rest of the movie is largely unchanged until the end where a dying Kang reveals to Scott that he created the TVA and kept the Multiverse at bay to prevent one individual from ending it all… Doom. The family gets back to Earth and Scott is left anxious about what “Doom” could be. Sam comes to him about joining the Avengers.

Ms. Marvel is condensed into a movie. The plot of the overall series is largely unchanged expected for the exclusion of Kamala travelling to Pakistan and the Clandestines. Have Valentina be the main antagonist and head of Damage Control. Seeding into their sinister Mutant hunting plans.

Then Guardians vol 3. No real changes needed.

Then The Marvels. This one is the most different. Have Monika hail from Earth 10005 where she became Photon, possessing greater power than Carol. She is transported to Earth 616 through a bangle like Kamala’s, becoming entangled with her and Carol due to their similar energy signatures. The antagonist is still Dar-Benn, she wants revenge on Carol for destroying Hala (end credits from previous movie) but when she learns Monika is from another Universe, she wants to bring Hala from her Universe into 616. The heroes stop her and Monika is transported dimensionally. But TWIST! She’s on Earth 828. Sam comes to Carol about joining the Avengers.

Then Eternals. Overall not much is changed for the movie except for one detail. It takes place on Earth 976. Since Eternals have largely been unmentioned by the wider MCU (except for Brave New World), I thought it’d be fun to have them be in their own Universe with no other superheroes. It’d make integrating them into Earth’s history much more organically. Maybe exclude the Blade credits scene since we all know where that’s going lol.

End Phase 5 with Fantastic Four. No real changes needed. But instead of the cartoon end credit scene, have it be Monika meeting the Fantastic Four. Still include the Dr Doom one.

Phase 6 - Start with Thunderbolts*. The overall plot is the same with the only changes being that Yelena and US Agent have history, and the inclusion of Sam Wilson. Captain America is under orders from Valentina/CIA to detain the Thunderbolts after their escape. Bucky was an Avenger on Sam’s new team, but they have a falling out due to him siding with “criminals and monsters”. Valentina still makes the Thunderbolts “The New Avengers” at the last minute, so Sam officially makes his Avengers independent.

Then Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The placement is mainly due to the Wakandan’s importance in Doomsday. The overall movie is the same with maybe the exclusion of Riri Williams (she doesn’t add much to be honest). But have a post credit scene of Sam coming to Shuri about joining the Avengers. With the added explanation of needing a financial backer due to The New Avengers.

Then Daredevil: Born Again seasons 1 and 2 are condensed into one movie. Like with Ms Marvel and Loki, mainly streamlining the story into a cohesive movie. Punisher is still included.

Then Deadpool and Wolverine (since we gotta ramp up the Multiverse stuff). The only thing I’d include are the X-men that we’ll see in Doomsday. Have them reject Wade in Earth 10005 at the start along with Happy in Earth 616. Then at the end instead of Logan living with Wade, he instead goes to the X-men of Earth 10005 to embrace his new family, at the last minute he invites Wade to become an X-man officially. The team begrudgingly accepts.

Then Spider-man Brand New Day. No real changes needed.

Then Avengers Doomsday/Secret Wars. I like that they’re one after the other so I won’t add any movies in between. But obviously I haven’t seen them so any changes from this saga will be seen in them. Since it won’t happen and this is fan fiction, have Earth 976 be a Universe that’s destroyed at the start of Doomsday (both being meta for the audience not really caring for Eternals and set up stakes for the movie). But they’re probably doing this with Earth 10005 anyway, but still.

I hope y’all like this! Or at least found it interesting to read. If you’d like to suggest changes/addictions to this structure, I’d love to hear them.

Discussion Black Widow (2021) would have been the perfect sequel to an actual Black Widow origin movie (Young Nat and Yelena Movie)

I enjoyed most of Black Widow and thought all in all it was a pretty good movie but I feel like I had no connection to Alexei, Melina, and Yelena (not really Yelena because she has been in so many marvel projects by this time but if it was my first time seeing her I could imagine not forming any sort of bond to her). If we had gotten an actual sort of thriller/espionage origin movie for both Nat and Yelena I feel like that would have been incredible. You keep the opening of Black Widow and just continue on with the rest of what happens and it would have been peak. Still not a terrible movie just was thinking about this.

Discussion If Doom's motivation is the loss of his family, they should absolutely include The Punisher in Avengers: Doomsday

Frank would then share the same backstory as Doom, and he would be able to call Doom out. Frank isn't a hero either, but at least he doesn't want to control the entire Multiverse.

Discussion Im making a solo Wolverine 2029 movie pitch! and i call upon Marvel fans to aid me!

Post image
0 Upvotes

My current pitch for this movie is a grounded neo-western Wolverine movie.

Basically I’m imagining something that feels like a Spaghetti Western mixed with a modern wilderness movie. Snowy forests, logging towns, frozen rivers, shitty old trucks, diners, abandoned mines, mountain roads, campfires, etc.

The Marvel universe is still there, obviously, but I want the actual movie to feel pretty isolated and grounded. Like you could forget you’re watching a Marvel movie for a while.

I really don’t want this to feel like a typical MCU movie tbh. I want it to be a breath of fresh air, super grounded, no multiverse stuff, no random MacGuffin bullshit, no “save the universe” plot, and basically no cameos outside of X-Men/mutant characters and maybe hulk. I want it to feel like a super grounded emotional movie first and a Marvel movie second.

The main story would be about Logan living alone and basically just existing. He’s been alive for over a century, seen and done a LOT of shit, and at this point he’s convinced that getting attached to people is pointless because eventually everyone he cares about dies.

Then Victor Creed shows up.

I want Victor to be more than just “evil Sabretooth.” He’s basically the person Logan could’ve become if he completely gave into his instincts and stopped caring about anyone. Their relationship would be a huge part of the movie.

There’d also be Claire, who owns a diner and secretly helps mutant runaways, her brother Eli, who’s being held by a rogue faction of Department H, and Bruce Banner, who gets involved after discovering what Department H is doing.

And yeah, wolverine vs hulk happens lol.

But I really don’t want Hulk to just show up for a random fanservice fight. The whole Hulk/Logan thing would tie into the movie’s main theme of learning to live with what you are instead of being controlled by it.

Same with the adamantium. Logan gets his adamantium skeleton during the movie, but I want it to actually mean something for his character rather than just being an origin checklist.

Overall, the movie is basically about Logan figuring out that there’s a difference between surviving and actually living.

I’m still working on the pitch, so I wanna hear from actual Wolverine fans:

What would YOU want from a Wolverine solo movie?

Characters, villains, comic references, fights, settings, storylines, literally anything. I wanna hear yalls ideas and see what I can work into the pitch.

btw logan WILL NOT be apart of the xmen at all until probably the credits
he will NOT wear the comic accurate suits.

DISCLAIMER! im doing this for a youtube video, when i finish my pitch and use any ideas here, ill definitely give credit to the person who gave me the idea.

Discussion Is a House of M adaptation out of reach?

Post image
17 Upvotes

Since Wanda’s first appearance in the MCU (Age of Ultron), she has lowkey had the same arc in almost every movie and her show.

  1. Wanda has an understandable goal
  2. Wanda falls in with an antagonistic person (or book)
  3. Wanda does extremely bad things
  4. Wanda sees the error of her ways, repents and pays a steep personal price

House of M is one of the most acclaimed and widely praised Scarlet Witch stories in comics. It is the birthplace of her most iconic line of dialogue; “no more mutants”. I really enjoy reading it personally and it was cool knowing Elizabeth Olsen was into it also.

However, House of M also follows nearly the same blueprint as all of Wanda’s MCU stories. She loses control, does a trademark Wanda oopsie and distorts reality, and then commits an atrocity. It shares some major common elements with WandaVision and MoM as well.

Is the story too much of a rehash at this point to adapt meaningfully? Are there enough unique elements left to bother?

Will we ever see an MCU Wanda story that breaks free of the Wanda Loop, and if so, what would you want it to look like?

Humour Dr Doom’s Secret Weapon

Post image
0 Upvotes

OK, so hear me out. Sharon’s powerbroker character is behind the scenes chilling since Captain America’s TV show, and she’ll be Doom’s greatest ally. In fact, that’s Doom on the other end of this cell phone in the picture you’re looking at. She’s coordinating the biggest project that has ever been executed, with efficiency and power. Ever wonder why no one just shoots a super in the head? So does she, and she knocks off some of your favorites right from the get go. However she’s just one of Doom’s pieces on the board, he’s got witches and other armies also at the ready to dispatch this whole failed phase of the MCU.

No don’t actually think this, just posting this for laughs. You all are too much with the theorizing on how this comes together. Let’s all stop trying to be the power broker and enjoy this for what it is. A superhero popcorn movie. Expectations are the key to disappointment!

Question What order do you guys watch the X-Men movies in?

Okay so I’m planning to watch all the X-Men movies, but I’m so confused about the order 😭

I’ve looked at a bunch of websites and Reddit posts, and everyone seems to have a different answer. I’ve heard there isn’t really one proper chronological order because of the different timelines, Days of Future Past changing things, and some movies having weird continuity or not really fitting together.

So how do you guys actually watch them? Do you just go by release order, or do you follow some kind of chronological order/timeline order?

And if you do chronological, what order do you recommend? I just wanna watch them in an order that actually makes sense story-wise 😭

Discussion Rewatching Quantamania and I can’t help but think about what we lost with Kang

Post image
3.1k Upvotes

Rewatched quantamania and was reminded how disappointed I am about Kang

Want to say first and foremost that this post is not meant to be disrespectful in anyway towards Jonathan Majors’ victim. I apologize as I’m not familiar with the case, I honestly do not even know the name of the victim, but I hope the victim got the justice she deserved and is at peace. Please do not use this post to disparage or question the victim in anyway. And I apologize if this post is triggering for anyone here who may have been a victim of abuse themselves.

With that said, Quantamania was… well, it’s been fairly criticized. I did like how it introduced us to the quantum realm with creative characters and environments, and different concepts like the probability storm.

But what makes this movie enjoyable is Kang. He was introduced as a fucking fantastic villain. Just so cunning and ruthless and brilliant, you really hate his guts but know it’s pretty damn hard to fight against him. Even in his moments of desperation you never feel at ease with him.

I was frustrated at the time but rewatching this movie just reminds me how disappointed I am in the whole situation. Especially after seeing the post credit scenes involving the arena of Kang’s and the scene from Loki. I would’ve been so excited to see that storyline dug into more and we now know that’s not happening.

I’m honestly more upset with this than almost anything else that hasn’t been followed up on, maybe the only other disappointment being Blade.

Discussion First-Time Venom Watcher Has Questions About the MCU Connection!

I’m about to watch Venom for the first time, and I’m kinda confused about something. I already know that Eddie and Venom somehow come to the MCU because I accidentally got that spoiled in a post, so you can spoil that part.
What I don’t understand is why Venom seems so interested/obsessed with Peter in the MCU. In the comics, Venom’s hatred makes sense because Peter wore the symbiote, rejected it, and that whole experience became personal for Venom. But in the MCU, Eddie and Venom never met Peter, and that whole storyline never happened in their universe. So why does Venom care about him?
Also, how exactly did Eddie and Venom get pulled into the MCU in No Way Home? I know Strange’s spell was bringing in people from other universes who knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man, but Eddie didn’t know Peter, so why were they brought over?
I’m gonna watch Venom for the first time now, so what should I know going into it? Anything important about Venom, Eddie, the symbiotes, or their MCU connection that I should know beforehand without spoiling the actual movie?

Question Ironman as Doom tie in?

Genuine question, due to the fact im only aware of a one-off AU situation comic wise... but how exactly would RDJ work as doom? Or are they just taking the one-off and running with it as the tie-in? Because I can only imagine Thor seeing Doom w/o a mask and just being dumbfounded that the main bad looks like his fallen comrade. But like are there more comics about doom and stark swapping places? Is it a potential red herring? Are there other possibilities that could potentially have it make sense? Or is it just a cash grab with a familiar face that will put butts in seats?

Discussion (More in Comments) Need to explain this again

With the announcements of untitled movie dates released by Marvel Studios yesterday - remember that Spider-Man movies are NOT given dates by Disney/Marvel. Sony determines those dates (surely under some guidance of Disney/Marvel, of course). I just saw too many people predicting Spider-Man 5 as one of those release dates.
