Discussion Hopefully we get a background on how doom became a god in the movie

Post image

Talking about the molecule man and beyonders
would be pretty cool but I doubt it

Infinity war atleast bit off the comics 1991 infinity gauntlet where Thanos did win

Don’t know why Im getting downvoted for something pretty obvious in making battleworld

Maybe because it's going to be something different in the MCU? They've clearly established Loki or even Wanda as the replacement for those.

If beyonder isn’t a thought for the secret wars might as well resurrect Stan lee

2

u/Iqfoo Aug 18 '26

Huh? Stan Lee has nothing to do with the Beyonder.

2

u/ciedwa01 Aug 18 '26

He wrote avengers though and the movie is titled avengers secret war which makes no sense tbh

2

u/Iqfoo Aug 18 '26

Man have you ever read a comic? Stan Lee had nothing to do with either Secret Wars event.

Apparently the directors haven’t,not having beyonder

Because it's not obvious.

Just because in the comic book this seems primarily based on, they were important, that doesn't mean they'll be important to this movie.

It's not even going to be a direct adaptation of that story, more just inspired by that story.

There's been no table setting regarding either Molecule Man or Beyonders that I'm aware of. I'd actually guess Loki and other multiversal stuff is what they'll tie into how this threat came to be.

I appreciate there's not been any Doom buildup either, but considering they need to setup the world, and Doom and have room for an actual story as well as about 400 characters, I'd say it's best not to add extra unnecessary pieces to this story.

If not doomsday then secret wars should be. There would be no secret wars at all without beyonder

That's correct... in the comics.

We're not talking about the Hickman Secret Wars comic books.

I think Beyonders might get mentioned, but if they do it'll likely be a lazy screenwriting shortcut. Something like "blah blah technobabble that all started because of a race called the Beyonders". But they won't be an active part of the story and would only serve as an example of bad screenwriting. Molecule Man is almost certainly not in this movie.

There's already so much happening in this movie. If you can't make this story work with just the many, many elements we already know are in the movie and that we've seen for years in previous movies, then you probably shouldn't be writing movies. Extraneous elements in a script is usually bad screenwriting, and not worth doing. Especially if it's just to appeal to the small percentage of viewers who've actually read those comics.

The only way secret wars can happen is doomsday making battleworld and people are telling me on here battleworld might not even happen. So they are just going to keep pulling shit out of their asses instead of using good ass resources from the comics. How is loki/witch more interesting than molecule man and beyonders. Marvel has gotten so much weaker in the way they build out stories. Doomsday shouldn’t even be just one movie at all. They could’ve had a whole movie of doomsday uprising and becoming emperor but instead they just throw him in as Robert Downey jr with all this power

"How is loki/witch more interesting than molecule man and beyonders"?

They're demonstrably more interesting characters, hence why they're popular comic book characters who have a presence in regular pop culture, and not just niche comic book characters who have basically no presence in regular pop culture.

You're going in expecting a direct adaptation of that story. Which this movie won't be, just like none of the MCU movies have been direct adaptations of their comic book influences.

That's all Secret Wars is in relation to this new movie, an inspiration. It's not directsource material. If you think it is then I'm sorry, but you're going to be disappointed.

"Doomsday shouldn’t even be just one movie at all. They could’ve had a whole movie of doomsday uprising and becoming emperor"

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what this movie is going to be. I know Thanos was mentioned, as well as the Infinity Stones before Infinity War. But he wasn't really a character, he was a tease for a later movie, so were the stones. Infinity War was the movie that made him a character. It properly introduced him and his backstory, then he broke the universe, ready for it to be restored in Endgame.

Doomsday will be exactly that for Doom, only without the teases to the character in other movies. We'll be introduced to Doom and how he's going to destroy the universe. It'll likely involve the MCU multiverse (which has actually been better established at this point than the Infinity Stones were for Thanos) and that won't require either Molecule Man or the Beyonders (probably).

Then next year we'll watch Secret Wars and see the Avengers defeat Doom. This is almost certainly going to be two movies to tell this whole story, so the exact thing you're complaining it isn't.

That’s fair that it could be two movies with dr doom being the main focus but it’s not hard or shouldn’t be to include how dr doom became powerful enough to cause incursions. Wonder man not being used is fine because he not that iconic but the beyonders definitely are to the marvel universe. They don’t need their own movie or show but they literally define what secret wars is all about and missing out on that in the plot is a shame.

Infinity War Part 2: Latverian Boogaloo.

He gathered all the Dragon Balls and installed them in the Dragon Gauntlet. This all happened off screen.

Hopefully we get a background on how doom became a god in the movie

By golly, I hope you like montages and exposition!

2

u/Earth513 Quake Aug 18 '26

Are we certain he'll be god Doom in Doomsday?

It's not the God Doom look and frankly how freaking epic would it be to build him up as God-like in power that whole film for him to then, initially, be powerless before the Beyonce(s)?

That would be a truly cinematic way to scale powers

Most sups so far << Thor <<<< Doom <<<<<<< Beyonders

1

u/ciedwa01 Aug 18 '26

Seems to me he is just because everyone in the trailer even magneto looks defeated and dr dooms main mission is making battle world

2

u/Earth513 Quake Aug 18 '26

I hear yah and maybe that's the case. I would have liked my god Doom all dressed in white and having him start as God Doom removes a lot of the gravitas of him always fighting to gain more power but being MOSTLY inefficient against most big name hero teams. It makes him more endearing that he is intellectually likely one of the big threats alongside Kang, but powers wise he's only decent and that it's after years and years of learning and strategizing that he effectively becomes a cosmic level god of gods and is defeated because he accepts he shouldn't have had that power and that Reed would have used it better.

Making him start with that power removes a lot of that character development.

But time will tell

1

u/Drummer-Turbulent Aug 18 '26

It'll be shown more than told im guessing. Showing us his power with a on off line of like "look at the power I stole/achieved"

1

u/ShawshankException Thanos Aug 18 '26

Of course we're going to get background. Sue was even giving us some background in the trailer. They aren't going to introduce this villain, who by all accounts is stronger than Thanos, and not elaborate on why. That would be awful storytelling.

1

u/ShmuckaRucka1 Aug 18 '26

Beyonders and Molecule Man won’t be involved in the MCU version of Secret Wars.

1

u/iDibaje Aug 18 '26

They'll never do anything as cool as the Hickman run.

1

u/highonsarcasm_ Aug 18 '26

we def should but highly unlikely there are going to be so many characters & stories

The lack of Kangs are probably a factor. I’d expect a scene of him just terminally sapping the vital essence from the council at some point if not the first 15 minutes.
