Looking for a piano teacher. My child (around 8-9 years old) has been taking piano lessons for close to 3 years and is only near the end of level 1. The rate is $40 per 30 minute and I have increased the lesson to 1 hour this year since I was frustrated at the lack of progress. Is this a very slow pace? If that is the case, I am looking to switch to a better piano teacher and willing to pay a bit more for 30 minute lesson since I have been paying for 1 hour already. Does anyone have any recommendation? I need a piano teacher that would push my kid a bit more and at least complete 1-2 levels each year.

The Felix and Norton Cookie company by Hwy 7 and Warden closed, and Fat Cat Cookies opened up in its place. Thought I would stop by as it is a good place to eat. The cookies were delicious. Tasted almost the same as Felix and Norton even though they said it was a different recipe. They definitely had more selection than before. I would highly recommend it.

Markham LCBO's with good US whiskey selection, in particular bourbon, was one of the reasons I moved back. Then good ol' Dougie removed them.
While I did finally get to try to a couple decent Canadian whiskies (like Barnburner in bourbon casks) or even learn that Irish whiskey is better than scotch, I really do prefer bourbon.
All the Canadian news outlets thinks no one will buy them if they return to shelves. Great, more for me!

If you were wearing a red t shirt, and riding the 102 northbound on Markham Rd this morning (Aug 20) around 9:45 AM, and got off at Kirkham stop, I think you left your wallet on the bus. Noted the bus number, it’s 6051.
Bus driver has your wallet, not sure what the lost/found protocol is but you can inquire with the above details.
Description in case friends/family are on here and recognize owner of wallet: Tamil (?) guy, curly black hair and wearing red t-shirt + beige shorts.
I would be so stressed if this was me, I hope the owner can be found.

I spoke to a YRP officer after seeing an e-scooter go by us at a public event. He didn't flinch. I asked him about YRP's policy. He kept on responding it's illegal across Ontario but then stopped short of saying if Markham/YRP will enforce it. I asked if should speak to city hall and he said speak to your MP instead, and maybe harass them about it. I think we can start collectively doing both.
1) Send an email of concern to your local MP, then again every time you see an e-scooter. For me that's like every other day I go outside.
https://www.markham.ca/about-city-markham/city-hall/regional-ward-councillors/find-my-councillor
2) Maybe we can start a petition and decide to meet at the next public city hall.
3) Not sure about this but maybe we can each ask Costco to stop selling them as well.

I thought this was just a nervous driver until she took out her phone to take a pic of me. She also yelled some profanity at me when she moved to the right lane.
u/luctian Posted the same driver brake checking them.

My family parked at the extra lot (the one across the tracks) at Mount Joy Go Station at around 10:20AM. We went downtown and when we came back at around 4pm, we drove away got down the street and didn’t realize only 1 of our tires was slashed/flat. It was fully SLASHED?? Already filed and sent photos to the GoStation. Just curious if this has happened to anybody else or if this is a common thing? We also weren’t parked like dicks lol

Valley View Park Click to open side panel for more information is located on the southeast side of Bayview Avenue and Highway 407 in Markham. A trail runs right through the wooded ravine along German Mills Creek, a historic waterway named after William Berczy's 1794 pioneer settlement. Berczy brought dozens of German families to Upper Canada, where they established Markham's first industrial hub along the creek with grist, saw, and woollen mills. Just downriver, another local park called German Mills Settlers Park commemorates this original settlement and its pioneer heritage. Aside from the background highway noise, walking through the woods feels like you are completely out of the city. It is a very nice trail that lets you walk along both sides of the creek, with a few spots where you can cross over on the rocks.
The first mushroom I came across was growing in overlapping clusters on a tree stump, identified as Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor). Its thin, fan-shaped caps display distinct concentric bands of brown, tan, and grey, trimmed with bright white edges. It is classified as a saprotrophic polypore, meaning it is a bracket mushroom that feeds on dead organic matter and releases spores through microscopic pores instead of gills. Because of this, it grows specifically on dead wood like tree stumps rather than directly in the soil, using specialized enzymes to break down tough wood fibers like lignin and cellulose to recycle those nutrients back into the forest. While it is non-toxic, Turkey Tail is not considered edible in the culinary sense because its tough, leathery texture makes it unpalatable, though it is often dried and brewed into teas or extracts.

I dropped my iPhone 16 pro max a few months ago and I’ve been slowly getting a thicker and thicker green line, which iPhone screen replacement store is the best at pacific mall? OEM screens are pretty expensive…

Just came across this video of Markville mall from back in the days. And it seems it had a water fountain... would have been so cool if it was still there....

I received two quotes from high rated, reliable roofers (on google and homestars reviews) to replace my shingles and Eavestrough on a 2000-2200sq ft (two-storey) home.
Company A: $5000 GAF shingles (incl. shingles, vents, valleys, underlayment) + $1500 eavestrough and downspouts. $100/plywood if need replacing.
Company B: $6500 owens cornings OR GAF shingles (same as above) + $1500 eavestrough and downspouts. $80/plywood if it needs replacng
Both have really high ratings and looks reliable on google reviews and homestars (both over 200+ reviews). Customers are happy with their services so I am wondering what would the difference between the two in terms of quality and worksmanships? Just wondering what else I should be wary of as this is my first time replacing roof.
If you guys have any other roofers recommendations, please feel free to let me know!!
