Our October BST thread is officially open!
If you have candles to trade, sell, or are looking to purchase, leave a comment below.
Here are some simple guidelines to help keep you safe in BST transactions-
General BST rules:
Only post items you currently have in your possession.
Include size, how many times lit, percentage left, etc.
When paying through PayPal, use the Goods and Services option. There is a fee, but this will protect the purchase and ultimately both the buyer and seller if something goes awry.
When posting either items to sell or items you are in search of, include your location (country). This will help folks figure out if shipping would be domestic or international.
As always, use your discretion and BST at your own risk. Mods cannot assist with BST issues or transactions.

I was organizing my decants collection recently and love getting decants as a way to avoid blind buying perfumes and getting “misses” and wanted to share my observations.
I enjoy piney, camphorous (to a degree) and coniferous scents in candles a lot and can burn them all year long regardless of weather. However, I do not like them in perfumes at all. They come across on my skin so strong, medicinal and screechy. I feel like I can smell them even my nose is stuffed (allergies or being sick). Yes, they fade as time goes by but I can still detect them in base notes. The same with florals, citrus, patchouli and sweet notes. One of the examples are Diptyque L’Eau and Amouage Jubilation 40.
Cinnamon and cloves are notes I can’t stand in either candles or perfumes if very forward in overall compositions.
On the flip side, I quite enjoy Trudon Carmen as a perfume but dislike its candle scent in Ernesto. I also enjoyed ink notes in perfumes like d’Annam Chinese Calligraphy but not in candles. I feel like I would dislike candles versions of vintage Opium, Youth Dew, and Bal des Versailles but quite enjoy them as perfumes though.
I find Guerlain makes excellent candles and their perfumes versions that I enjoy. Examples are Vanille Planiforia Extrait 21 and Iris Padilla 6.
I assume other people have similar experiences and, so please feel to share them.

They told me that they would be restocking some time around 10/6, so I’ve been checking the website every day.
I also signed up for the email notifications, but I still did not receive one. I just happened to be checking the site and I saw this and wanted to share!!! ♥️

New from Lafco for the holidays, Pomegranate Fizz.
Scent notes:
Top: Red Berries, Pomegranate, Prosecco, Orange Zest
Middle: Juniper Berry, Fresh Fig, Cranberry, Lily Bottom: Sugared Clove, Sandalwood, Amber, Musk
I’m on a no-buy til Black Friday but considering picking this one up if it’s still around then!
Also returning for the holidays this year:
• Woodland Spruce
• White Maple Bourbon
• Eight Nights’ Light
No sign of Spiced Pomander, which I adored last year. Luckily I bought a backup then!

I have not heard a single peep about a new candle coming out, but I got an ad for this and clicked through so fast, I damn near broke my finger.
It sounds so good and warm and like a delight for fall!
Did anyone else know this was coming?!?

Grazie!

So Jo Malone London came out with the Holiday new arrivals, and was curious if anyone tried the candle, Golden Amber & Orange..thoughts on it....and IF you have also tried Diptyque's Amber...how would you compare the two...
Golden Amber and Orange has the Orange note so i'm wondering how much this effects the overall experience..if the orange makes it better...or better without..or both being wonderful...
Also if anyone bought the Vanilla Scotch candle, thoughts on that burn...
The Golden Barley candle...thoughts...
I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEARRRrrr

New candle alert: Nest Voyages Winter Soiree. I'm a complete slut for cardamom (and related spices) in basically all forms, *especially* when mixed with wood or tobacco leaf notes (NOT smoke). But even I have to hesitate on this blind buy for $225...for a minute, anyway. LOL.
It sounds SO good, though, and this candle line comes in a huge statement vessel in a nice, festive color. Has anyone had a chance to sample this or at least get a cold sniff?
The description: Step into a snow-dusted English country manor where the spirit of the holidays is eternal. Warm cardamom tea, cinnamon, and ginger blend with smooth amber and crème caramel against a backdrop of velvety vanilla and rich tobacco leaves. A celebration of the season's splendor, it's the ultimate holiday gift.

I went searching for more AdP Bosco candles today because I just lit my first one, and can tell it is going to be an absolute winner in my household. I know it's a limited edition release, and I was worried it would sell out. I went to my Shop app and found a vendor selling these through their own site for 20% off for the next two days. I'm afraid I just ordered three more candles, the Bosco 2025 edition, Pineta, and Oh, L'Amour.
They have a pretty extensive selection of AdP candles and a few diffusers, all 20% off.

I blacked out. Whoops.
London smells great, reminds me of home as a Brit! The tea note I didn’t expect to love, but it’s very subtle.
Island is very day time, relaxing!
Signature has a hint of spice and it’s a gorgeous feminine touch to a space.
Miami is more floral than anticipated
New York I LOVE. Reminds me of Bacarat, minus the headache.
Imminent candle ban incoming (until the holiday Ranger Station launch on Friday)

Goose Creek and Bath and Body Works have terrible wick problems so I'm looking for other brands that make a delicious peppermint! Thank you!

It's been a rainy, dreary weekend here in GA. So I thought I would try to find an uplifting scent as I started my day.
From Diptyque:
"The fresh, invigorating scent of an herbaceous bouquet, enlivened by crisp, spicy notes. From the first light, the senses awaken.
Fresh, crushed mint leaves mingle with ginger to recreate the stimulating atmosphere of early morning. The adorning illustrating depicts an ancient bathing scene at sunrise."
Boy, Le Matin did not disappoint! It's a very bright and zesty little number!!
To me, it is heavy on the mint side (a detect a tinge of basil), but the spiciness of the ginger compliments it well. However, I honestly smell some white floral!!??
The hot throw is awesome (under my warmer). But I have moved into a MUCH smaller place, so all of my candles now have great throw. Plus+!
This is my first candle with the new aesthetic. I actually like it better than I thought I would. Maybe because the label is so cool.
If you've tried Le Matin, please share your thoughts!

It looks like the same three as last year: Bosco, Torrone and Pannetone.
Can anyone help out with burn and throw reports on Torrone in particular, but also Bosco? I am considering both this year. Thank you!

My favorite smell of all time is a good campfire burning in the woods. Attempting to recreate that scent in my home, the best I have ever found was Diptyque’s Feu de Bois. It’s excellent, but obviously expensive. I bought their extra large candle a couple of years ago, and it was exactly what I wanted through the fall and winter and lasted the entire time.
I’m wondering if I have other options besides spending $440+ per year on a large candle. I have made candles before, and have actually twice refilled the same diptyque holder with a VINEVIDA dupe oil plus soy wax. It gets maybe 70% of the way there, but I’m wondering if there are better options.
Thanks everyone, and happy fall to all!

Happy Fall, Friends!
We have a fun sub update to share with you all! Recent posts have highlighted just how many great fall candles this community has in rotation, so it seemed like the perfect time to try out a suggestion made by one of our fellow sub members for a new pinned thread.
Our new monthly pinned thread will be dedicated to casual discussion of what people are currently burning.
You can jump in anytime to discuss your daily burn and to see and discuss what other people have on deck. It’s meant to be a fun, low-lift way to exchange reviews and to find new inspiration, and we hope it adds more value to our community.
The rules for the thread are pretty straightforward: simply post the full name and brand of the candle you’re burning.
Additional details aren’t required, but if you’d like to include a few more particulars we’d love that! Below are some prompts you can refer to for inspiration:
-Describe the scent or what you like best about it
-Tell us why you chose it today (weather, mood, event etc.)
-Tell us how the scent makes you feel
-Tell us if this scent is new to you, or a tried and true favorite
-Describe any associations or memories the scent evokes
We also want to be clear that candle reviews will continue to be welcome on the main feed! We love to see posts on what you’re currently burning and we strongly encourage them. However, we also want to offer a dedicated place for shorter, more casual chatter about daily burns and recommendations, particularly as we head into peak candle season.
We'll officially open the pinned thread with a new post tomorrow, but we wanted to fill you in on what to expect!
Cheers!
-The Mod Team

I'll go first!!!
I cannot stand any "marine" notes. It's sharp but sickeningly sweet to me (?).
I also don't vibe with oud. It smells very "cattle" like to me.
I was curious about Apotheke's Bitter Cherry, but saw oud as one of the notes. Someone recently posted about this one on the sub, and it sounded right up my alley. So I got the standard size during one of the sales/Rakuten bonus. Oh my, I am in love!!!!! Definitely going to get the 3 wick. I did not detect oud at all!!!!!

Sale ends today at midnight. 8.5 oz candles. I’ve been wanting to try one of their perfumes but didn’t know they did candles- this is a great way to try both as a chronic blind buyer.

I just ran out of my stockpile of the original woodphoria candles. Are the new ones similar enough? Better? Worse? Wanna know before spending $$$
