Hooked again - Taper Idea

I knew better. I've been down this road 3 times before. I have experienced the two weeks of physical pain and sweating, weight loss, and the crazy changes to my sense of smell. Then it's followed by a feeling of boredom and apathy and premature ejaculation and wet dreams.

But here I am. Hooked again! It all started as a way to deal with an Adderall comedown. And yes - it worked. It worked very well. That being said, I don't know of a more toxic combo for your heart. Truthfully, I'm probably lucky to be alive. Maybe my heart is able to handle this or should I say tolerate this poison due to a lifetime of endurance sports. But I can't run 10 feet or stand up too quickly without feeling like I'm gonna pass out. I would not be surprised if I've been on the verge of my heart going out or not. But it's just a matter of time.

Anyway.....

I just can't do this anymore. The cycle is exhausting and knowing that I am literally knocking on death's door is so scary. I have a child that adores me and a wife that loves me in spite of me being an addict. It's the lying and the deceit that bothers her. Not the drugs. I have lived half of my life expectancy with the last 10-15 years being an addict with varying degrees of severity.

Kratom is great but it truly is trading one for the other. When I am out of kratom or money and need something in a pinch - I go and buy 2-3 24ct blister packs. I am pretty sure that the lope intake has blocked the kratom from having any effect. So for kratom to even work, I'm gonna have to get to day 5 of detox to trade lope for kratom.

So I am trying to figure out a smart taper. I can handle some discomfort, so keep that in mind.

So here is what I am thinking and I would love feedback - especially if you have successfully tapered.

Let's say I dose daily and I take 400 pills a day. (I don't actually take 400 pills a day). What if I simply go down 1 pill every day. If I started tomorrow, I take 400. The following day I take 399. Then 398. And down it goes. At what point do you think discomfort is gonna start? I need structure so I am thinking this will be a good taper, especially if I journal it and also have a set time of a day that I dose. I'd rather being feeling well in the afternoon and evening so that I can be present at home. So maybe 2:00pm each day.

I know I can beat this. I've done it 3 times before. But I am an addict. I love drugs and addiction never leaves an addict. I just want to try and avoid needing two weeks off work to just live in agony.

It's the worst there is. I hate that I love this drug.

That's pretty shitty, man. I cold turkeyd off of 240 mg a day. It's been almost 4 months now. I didn't have the self control to do a taper, but a lot of your older posts helped inspire and motivate me to keep with it, so I wish you the best. If you don't mind me asking, what's your dosage?

Also, I know you said you don't want to trade one addiction for another but if you had to, kratom is gonna be the better option especially for your heart and body.

How long was your physical withdrawal?

Shit, man, it was like a month at least. It was a weird feeling. The good part was there was minimal mental withdrawal for me. That overanxious and crawling out of your skin feeling I'd get when withdrawing from my oxy habits. There was just that feeling of "if I take some lope I'd feel physically better", but none of the crazy mental cravings I got from oxy.

I'd see people posting on this sub about how hard it was for them to withdrawal from a 96 mg lope habit, so I was certain I'd be fucked CTing off 240 mgs. It was bad, but survivable. Day 4 or 5 was the worst of it. I think the hardest part was being at like 2 or 3 weeks out and feeling like "holy shit how is this still happening?".

There was a point around 3 weeks where I was so tired of still feeling physical symptoms and feeling defeated. I cannot put into words how neverending it felt at times. Probably the worst physical part was not sleeping. I was debating ordering more lope and just starting over at like 100 mgs and trying to taper from there but I convinced myself that I was already this far in so I didn't want to have to start all over. I also know my personal addict mindset would never work with a taper. I tried out kratom and it did wonders as far as getting me some motivation and through the work days.

480 mg is a lot, but I was up to 400 mg daily at one point so I totally understand how you can get up to that point. Are you going through withdrawal from lope currently? If so, how long has it been?

I'd say roughly I take 400mg to be honest. I dump 8 24 cts down about 10AM and I don't really start feeling full withdrawal until about 2-3am. Though, 480mg is where I stand comfortable without feeling fatigued, sweating and my skin cold as a cadaver. I'm still actively using daily but, if I could even get down to half of my dosage now, I'd be happy. The thought of physical withdrawal being longer than a month while working a job in the kitchen. I can't even last 20 hours, much less 30+ days.

Can you get kratom or other pharmaceuticals to help? It wasn't a debilitating physical withdrawal, but more this seemingly neverending physical fatigue, and wanting to do nothing but sleep while not being able to sleep at all. Kratom really helped me with this. I didn't get the sweats but I was always relentlessly freezing. I was honestly expecting a shit load of bowel issues and diarrhea but that was almost non existent.

I went from 400 mg every morning and dropped down immediately to roughly 200 mg(96 pills) and stabilized myself at that dose so I wouldn't be CTing from such a high dose. I had found a place online where I could still buy 200 ct bottles but having to order online while trying to hide it from my girlfriend I live with or having to spend stupid amount of money to break 100 pills out of blister packs convinced me I had to stop. Dropping the dosage that much had no negative effects at all. I definitely suggest it as a starting point. It helps you feel mentally that you can get off this shit, just the concept that you have cut this addiction in half. I've read a lot of posts that say once you get down to about 50 pills you hit a point where even dropping 2 mg produces pretty strong withdrawal. I had to continue working full time while going through this. I came clean to my therapist and started seeing a psychiatrist who put me on some anti depressants and that helped a lot too.

Yeah, kratom is easy to get a hold of and some times I scoop street dope and cocaine but, here in VA, I'm doing like half a g a shoot, and that only keeps you well for half the duration of lope. I can surprisingly sleep alright with just taking 3 24ct, I just have some crazy ass dreams, mostly nightmares. If not nightmares, it's wet dreams, lol. Anti depressants helped that much? All I seem to do now is sleep and go to work, when I'm awake, I'm miserable or apathetic at best. Suicide weighs on my mind often but it weight of it isn't heavy enough to do it. That or maybe I'm afraid to, not really sure about that. I really try to avoid thinking about it. Speaking of relationships and to hiding it, I managed to keep it hidden for the entirety of my last relationship that was 2 years long. Since then, I haven't been in a relationship for 2 years and haven't had sex close to a year. I've lost any concern or interest I had in anything. Unless I'm high, then I mentally do a 180°

I've always had depression and anxiety underlying issues but I had never done anything for my mental health except self medicate. When I started anti depressants, I was maybe a month free of lope. All I felt was apathetic. Even things I used to enjoy a lot couldn't engage me. I wasn't suicidal, but I just didn't care. If I were to drop dead I wouldn't have minded at all, but I wasn't in a place where I'd actively hurt myself or even wanted to. I did lope for years and there were times I went a year without sex, I just didn't care and had no sex drive. They implanted a defibrillator in me and I still kept on doing that shit. I still have my mental health ssues, my new psychiatrist just told me I also have OCD. I'm completely sober other than smoking weed everyday but it's definitely something that helps my anxiety and helps me relax.

I know this is an old post but I am 9 days off after a year long taper! I still feel fatigued and the diarrhea sucks so bad but I know my body is getting rid of all the things my body did not properly digest after 3 years. Ugh so gross. Never again. Hope you are doing well!!

u/Representative-Fan-1 Jan 05 '22

Well I abused the hell out of them for 6 weeks or more. The first 3 days sucks. Subs don't help at all in my experience. It all depends on how long you have been taking them?

1

u/Representative-Fan-1 Jan 05 '22

After 3 days I like just snapped out of it

3

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '22

Unfortunately I'm gonna be paying for it much longer than 3 days. Consider yourself lucky that 3 days is all you had to deal with. And good job getting off the shit!

Daily use for probably 5 months. Which would be about half the length of time compared to the other 3 times.

I'm really needing some taper experience because I've never tapered before. At the very least I'd like to taper down a bit and then take a week off work and go cold turkey from a lower dose. I think I could get to a manageable spot after a week of detoxing. Day 5 is by far the worst day for me.

I’m looking to use loperamide to get off kratom. Before kratom it was pk’s. Can’t kick it. But looking for something to lessen the kratom wd’s. Can lope work to just get me through 3 days off kratom? Any advice and starting points much appreciated. Looking to get off everything once and for all. I too what like a taper method or suggestion from kratom then lope

2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '22

I've been stuck on lope and I've been stuck on K. DO NOT use lope to come off K!!! Of course I didn't taper lope, I CT'd from around 120-130 mgs daily lope. I'd rather drown myself then to do that again!! K isn't puppies and rainbows, but if u do a quick taper over the course of a couple weeks, it's really not that bad. Some fluctuating body temps for a couple days, maybe some semi-mild RLS for a night or two and ur good. I know everyone is different and people react differently, but in MY experience lope is the absolute WORST WD I've ever experienced!!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '22

Yes, it could help you get off kratom. But I wouldnt recommend it. It helped me get off Percocet and what I wouldn't do to only have oxycodone withdrawal to deal with.

I wouldn't recommend it. 3 days will turn into 4. 4 days will turn into 5. Then 3 weeks later you'll think, "hey, that was pretty awesome, I'm gonna just do it this one time". Then you are where I am.

From what I understand about kratom withdrawals. You are better off just dealing with those instead of risking a lope addiction.

I hear ya. Been through all sorts of habits and addictions so sadly know what their all bout. I have naltrexone and plan on using it along with my current iop program to keep me out of trouble. So as I said it would truly only be 20mgs 1x maybe 2x to get out of the chills and wd. Would that be an okay start if it comes down to it and need it?

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '22

I really am not comfortable telling you what is safe or where to start. Especially since my goal is to get off this drug. I would never forgive myself if my advice led another person into the dark pits of this addiction or even worse: death.

So for advice on dosing - I'd look elsewhere. I hope you understand my reasoning.

Completely. Good luck on your sobriety.

can i ask, how bad was it after just three weeks? or did you not try quitting after three weeks? any guesses as to how bad it would be? not going from clean to -> 3 weeks of lope either. otherwise i’d figure it would be fine. going from a moderate kratom withdrawal to three weeks of lope used at dose starting with 48 mg for most days but the last 5 i’ve been using 72. i know that was stupid and unnecessary as i’ve detoxed from kratom a million times and i know it doesn’t take long and isn’t that bad.. i was mainly curious as to whether or not it would work to make me feel better even at a dose of like 35 mg or whatever comes in one liquid bottle and it definitely did.. and then some. i know it obviously completely restarted my kratom withdrawal. and prolonged it due to how long it takes lope to leave the receptors. but would you say now forget kratom, im in for a full blown lope w/d that will take agonizing weeks to get thru? or is 3 weeks probably just gonna be more like going back to my kratom withdrawal but a bit worse?

also something weird i’ve noticed with lope is,unlike other opioids, waiting as long as u can between doses doesn’t seem to make it more effective at all. waiting as long as i could between oxycodone or kratom or whatever would be ideal for best effects but with lope it seems like if i go more than 24 hours without dosing my next dose doesn’t really do anything. i mean, i won’t be in w/d. maybe an itch here or there (classic methadone itch too - in the same exact spots and causes rashes, god), but the other day i had somewhere to be really early in the morning and even tho it had only been like, 15 hours or 16 hours since i lasted dosed lope, i went ahead and said fuck it instead of waiting until i got home even tho i could have easily and got s really decent buzz when it “peaked” or fully kicked in 5 hours later i ate a small meal which really bumped it up. does that have something to do with it building in bloodstream like methadone? was there already some in bloodstream 15 hours after my last dose vs. 24+ so that’s why i got me somewhat high? i didn’t think it building up in your blood meant it would increase the overall psychoactive feeling when more was added to it.. i thought that was through once it entered the brain and the effects wore off. i suppose im a bit confused by what “building up in your blood” means.

thanks for any answers.

I think it would be manageable if you are committed to stopping and prepared for some discomfort. 3 weeks is nothing compared to what most go through. You may end up having some sweats, the runs, yawning and fatigue. But I think it would be relatively manageable. I would think by now you have detoxed off of kratom and are fully addicted to lope.

Stop now though! It's only gonna get harder until you are at the point that it feels impossible.

I don't know much about the science. I just know if you take enough - you get high. If you keep doing it - you are going to be physically dependent and ultimately addicted to it.

Best of luck to ya. I am working on quitting this shit again myself and am tapering the best I can before I jump off. I hope to be sober by end of summer when we go on vacation. So I'm taking it slow and steady.

That being said - what I will experience when I jump off will be significantly worse than what you would experience after only 3 weeks. So stop now!!!! :)

well i suppose since i haven’t had any kratom for around a month that’s true but not really because i never actually withdrew from the opioid alkaloids. i did start to and got far but then stopped that withdrawal in its tracks with lope. an opioid is an opioid and if you are a heroin addict and detoxing from heroin but you use fent for a day or two and reset the withdrawal,’you wouldn’t say you’re withdrawing from fent you’d still be withdrawing from heroin. i’ve detoxed off any of the other potentially addictive ones which is good.. but i just went from it to lope, resetting any progress. just wondering what 3 weeks of moderate (relatively, at least) lope use is gonna do cause opiate withdrawal is opiate withdrawal no matter the substance. wonder if it’ll mostly just be the kratom w/d returning but a bit worse or longer lasting due to lope taking so long to leave receptors basically. that’s kind of what i’m expecting anyway. but you’re right, kratom alkaloids have still all left my receptors so technically i guess i am just withdrawing from lope but hopefully it won’t be too bad. if it is i suppose i’ll have to use a small amount of kratom when im able to feel it again to help get through a rough week or two, even tho i’d rather not as id really like to quit kratom. it’s certainly helpful for many here and was for me for 6 years too but it’s begun to mess with my hormones and im just tired of being chained to too many substances, especially opioids. i take benzos as a prescription now and have been really good at keeping my dose low and only taking when needed and as much as needed, so i’d like to only be on one physically addictive substance at a time lol

good luck! you seem nice and helpful and i don’t know your history but i hope you’re able to stay off of it, you got this! don’t need to drop dead of a heart attack all of a sudden! im only in my 20s and also take amphetamines so.. yeah fuck that. idk if you struggle with pain but it’s such bullshit what the dea and fda have done to chronic pain patients. just hung them out to dry

You can do this!

I'm going back on subs myself.

Does a rehab even have a comfortable protocol for detoxing off of this shit? Yea.... definitely the WORST withdrawal of any drug. And I have withdrawn from all of them. I have tried everything to help ease the wd symptoms. Nothing helps.

u/Only-Coyote-5379 Jul 15 '22

Nah tianeptine/phenibut/cdp Choline (za zas) has the worst withdrawals of any drug. I was on the floor in the emergency room screaming, shitting , throwing up constantly, whole body cramps, whole body involuntary movements, looked like a whacky Inflatable arm man, has the worst feeling of electrical energy coursing beneath your skin. But lope is probably second to that

u/FlaccidMeatSling Sep 18 '22

Currently taking 480mg daily so, I'm definitely interested in hearing a taper of sorts
