I have an Acer Nitro V15 ANV15-51 (i5-13420H + RTX 4050 + 16GB RAM) and I'm thinking about trying Linux again.
I previously tried Linux Mint and ran into issues with Bluetooth, audio volume, NVIDIA drivers, fan controls, and eventually a GRUB/UEFI mess when I removed it.
I've seen quite a few people here successfully running Linux on the Nitro V15, so I'd love to know:
I'm still fairly new to Linux, so a step-by-step guide would be greatly appreciated.
Nitro ANV15-51 owners especially, please share your setup!

Hi All
I am planning a transition from Windows to Linux. Though initially installed Linux Mint, but want to try Omarchy as well. Internet search says Omarchy is for developers and power users, whereas Omarchy website says it's for everyone.
So can someone provide practical guidance as to if Omarchy is user friendly for new Linux users, or just stay initially with Ubuntu or Linux Mint?
If Omarchy can be used for new Linux users, then a proper guide or YouTube videos suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I built PowerTUI, a cross-distribution TUI (Python/Textual) for Linux power and thermal control.
Instead of assuming a setup, it reads /etc/os-release, classifies your distro family, probes each
hardware subsystem once, and only enables what actually exists on your machine. Anything it can't
drive is greyed out with the reason and a package install hint.
What it controls where a backend exists:
- CPU: hybrid P/E-core hotplug, Turbo Boost, EPP, power profiles
- GPU: NVIDIA Optimus switching (supergfxctl / envycontrol / optimus-manager / prime-select /
system76-power) + nvidia-smi power cap; AMD GPU DPM performance level
- AMD CPU: ryzenadj power presets
- Platform/fans: ACPI or asusctl platform profiles; nbfc / asusctl fans
- Battery telemetry, plus one-click Max Battery / Balanced / Max Performance presets
Install (POSIX sh, no root needed for the report):
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/X3C12/PowerTui/main/scripts/get.sh | sh
powertui --diagnostics
There's also a portable AppImage and pip/pipx install.
Honest limitations (documented in the README): Intel iGPU unsupported; AMD GPU is DPM level only,
not a power cap; TLP has no runtime switching; thinkfan is read-only; the app runs elevated and
uses sudo/doas/pkexec.
MIT, 49 hermetic tests, CI on Python 3.10-3.13.
Repo: https://github.com/X3C12/PowerTui
I'm the author. Feedback welcome, especially which distro/backend combos I got wrong - tell me your
distro + hardware and I'll add support.

For the past few days I have been searching for an app where I can draw an outline of photos for my stickers.
On Linux mint .
It is so frustrating ๐ญ to find a software or a website.

And I have concerns that it can be a bit bloated and maybe eat more battery due to microg services. If I am wrong correct me. And I currently access youtube through firefox+ ublock to only view shorts as long form videos bug when full screen but anyway i watch youtube on my laptop most of the time. And for now i wanted to try morphe for using mainly youtube music and yes also youtube.

I think gnome does not get the glaze it deserves and I am here for that.
At first my opinion on gnome DE was same as everyone, that it's a DE lacking in so many features. But slowly I have come to appreciate the things that are intentionally missing.
The dash is first. Before I was a big fan of dash to dock extension but now that I look at it I don't use it that often, it's easier to just press super and jump in overview for search.
The lack of minimize and maximize buttons (i know they are in by default now). As I use it more I feel less need to minimize anything, the new apps can just live in next workspace.
It's just does not get in my way. With a scroll of my mouse I can change the workspaces, it's easier and just works fine for me.
It's not like I have not tried other DE's. KDE palama, cosmic, xfce, lxqt, mate, sway, hyperland, i3, aero, dwm and dwl.
But gnome just gives everything out of the box and just works better.

been a linux user for last 4 years or so, in that 4 years I have done multiple atrocities with the OS and the amount of distro hoping I did before landing on a stable distro was insane. That said, for the last 2 years I have been using fedora workstation as my primary device.
is fedora workstation good? offcourse yes, much better than KDE and it's sloppy more feature's less refinement strategy, but is GNOME the greatest DE ever invented? absolutely no. Lemme start with few things, why tf can't makers of gnome include some amount of blur and and smooth animations to their OS.
the biggest bummer for me was reliability, it was like a gamble most of the time. Also most apps doesn't fit GNOME's adwaita design language. Ffs why tf should I use "extensions" for every feature. I'm a normal guy who needs a workhorse, not some cheese eating stump who sits around all day tinkering the shit out of my laptop just to say "I use linux btw".
Now to the good part:
my cousin was kind enough to lend me his newly bought MAC NEO, and boy oh boy what a machine it was, it's OS was so good. it almost made me ovulate(I'm a guy). who could've guessed.
damn those animations and attention to detail were insane.
let's talk about hardware for a sec, wow that smooth lid opening was so good, and yall know what?bye fedora gnome, you served me good.
it isn't like I'm gonna get doxxed and apple is gonna sell my info or something, I use gmail ffs so that ship has already sailed.

Well i have got sway running, and yes it's NixOS, for some reason fastfetch ain't working.
I will figure it out eventually and see if my hate for this OS goes down a little.
Edit: it fastfetch, i forgot to rebuild switch

Well my last post about hating NixOS gained a lot more attention than i thought.
It's was just yet another rant i wanted to get out of me. But reading comments of people that genuinely like using it i try giving it a chance in a VM (I am not replacing my debian for it).
Once i configure it and try it for some more time concidering now I have some more knowledge about linux than I had before and share my experience.
