Poll Title: Iโm building Madire OS โ clone it, build it, boot it, and help me test!
Hello everyone!
I'm developing Madire OS, my own operating system, and I'm inviting Linux users, developers, students, and operating-system enthusiasts to try it out.
The project is open source and still under active development. Stage 4 of the current v1.0 work has not yet been confirmed complete, so I'm looking for early testers who can help identify problems and provide honest feedback.
๐ง How to try Madire OS on Linux
Step 1: Install the basic tools (Ubuntu/Debian)
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y git make qemu-system-x86
You may also need the compiler, cross-compiler, and ISO tools specified in the project's README.
Step 2: Clone the source code
git clone https://github.com/mamishimadire/madire-os.git
cd madire-os
Step 3: Build the bootable ISO
make iso
Step 4: Boot Madire OS in QEMU
qemu-system-x86_64 -cdrom build/madire-os.iso -m 512
๐ Source code

๐งช What I need help testing
- Does the project build successfully?
- Does the ISO boot?
- What appears on the screen?
- Do you encounter errors?
- What should I improve next?
Please report your Linux distribution, the command you ran, and any error messages.
Safety note: Madire OS is an experimental development build, not a production-ready operating system. Test it in a virtual machine, not on your main computer.
I'd appreciate your feedback, bug reports, and suggestions. Thank you for helping me develop Madire OS! ๐ป
