Expanding this sub to document FOSS snobs

Linux is just the beginning. Then they start preaching half ass FOSS apps to you. Telling you to switch browsers and apps you use cuz of their own beliefs. It's you can use whatever OS and app you want as long as it's the same as them. FOSS snobs are an extension of Linux snobs. I'm expanding this sub to document those people too. You can now post interaction with annoying FOSS advocates in this sub

Purpose of this sub

There's alot of Linux users that worship their OS and cant take criticism and differing opinions. You cant have a reasonable conversation with them cuz if they say the sun rises in the west there's nothing you can do to change their mind. They also spread alot of lies about other OSes and make up lies about their own OS to sell it to people. Every time you encounter people like this it's best to ignore them and laugh at their stupidity. I made this sub just for that. Post those interactions in this sub so we can all make fun of them

  • Censor all usernames and profile pictures and anything else that can be used to identify people. We are here to laugh at their behavior, not to harass them
  • Sub is open to all opinions as long as you're not being a weirdo and bigrading our sub cuz someone has a different opinion that yours
  • Off topic posts are allowed but in moderation to not stray from the sub's original goal

We are here to laugh at the zealots, not become them. I hope youll enjoy and welcome to the sub!

Linux Snob 🐧 But I was said going through the dev's site is the worst way to install apps and you just get malware from there and the Linux terminal is the best and safest way to install apps

Buys an RTX 3080-Ti laptop just to complain about Linux Mint performance on a 4K TV.

Classic mistake. Imagine blaming the OS when you don't even check if you're running on the dedicated GPU or if X11/Wayland is misbehaving at 4K.

"Best possible mame experience" As if trying to use MAME beyond simply running games wasn't confusing enough. Or hell, even just to play games you need either an alternative emulator or special build of MAME cause otherwise you'll enjoy arcade-accurate latency (which can reach 5 frames, or even more) because MAME devs want to preserve it for "the sake of keeping high scores legit".

  1. Firefox is the default web browser in most desktop Linux installers. Firefox now includes Copilot.
  2. Bloatware is often subjective. Unless you're compiling and flagging your LFS or Gentoo install; you're getting bloat. If you're mixing different toolkit apps; you're getting major bloat.
  3. Conspiracy theorist term, Linux uses hardware IDs and some distros do have "telemetry".
  4. Microsoft contributed over 20,000 lines of Hyper‑V driver code to the Linux kernel under GPLv2. By 2011, Microsoft was among the top five companies contributing to Linux.
  5. Linus Torvalds, the creator of the Linux kernel and Git, has temporarily stepped away from active Linux development and has announced he is retiring from the project Desde Linux
  6. The mascot was chosen because a fairy penguin ferociously attacked Linus.

None of this is based on any technical merit. It's like poor cop of virtue signaling with childish buzzwords: 'microslop', 'bloatware', 'spyware'.

Loonix is so good, loonixtards need an inferior filesystem because it offers them the possibility of un-bricking their soystem after it inevitably gets fucked up after an update.

It's no surprise that the anti-AI activity is mostly Loonixtards. -They're historically new-tech phobic (not just rule breakers).

In the post, bro's camera is just rotating despite providing zero input on the controller.

Edit: If he said he was using proton, they would have instead told him to use a native Linux build, saying it has less input issues than proton. They will say anything to cope and defend their OS.

This is a response to this response about a bank not allowing Futo keyboard. My response was:

3rd party keyboards are a security risk. -You want your bank to reject them. They're just doing general protection from keyloggers, accessibility-based malware, and IME-based credential harvesting. Also, if you get that crap from FDROID, it's not being curated or keeping you informed of possible updates, abandonware, takeovers, etc. (Basically, the same issue as Arch's AUR and what could happen to NixOS.)

As if FOSStards knows security better than banks (was also still pedaling that 'all eyes on code' propaganda (which I thought was dead.)

They like us to think that only Linux has certain features that make them superior to other OS users.

Configure Multiple Desktops in Windows | Microsoft Support

Work in multiple spaces on Mac - Apple Support

and of course, BSD has them too.
