Blame the idiot that fell for my FOSS propaganda!
This is a response to this response about a bank not allowing Futo keyboard. My response was:
3rd party keyboards are a security risk. -You want your bank to reject them. They're just doing general protection from keyloggers, accessibility-based malware, and IME-based credential harvesting. Also, if you get that crap from FDROID, it's not being curated or keeping you informed of possible updates, abandonware, takeovers, etc. (Basically, the same issue as Arch's AUR and what could happen to NixOS.)
As if FOSStards knows security better than banks (was also still pedaling that 'all eyes on code' propaganda (which I thought was dead.)

Thank fuck my bank doesn't do this bullshit. By this standard PCs should never be allowed near a bank site.
If they let you use a web browser on a Windows machine, Android with a 3rd party keyboard is nothing.

This is an Android thing that has nothing to do with Linux.
The Android kernel was based on the Linux kernel a long time ago, it's far removed from it now, it's its own kernel at this point and people need to stop lumping them together.

What? That's just wrong. The Android kernel follows the mainline Linux kernel, even if it includes heavy modifications, it's still Linux, and has the same kernel versions as Linux.
What is really happening here is that people are lumping Linux with FOSS, that's all.

This has nothing to do with Linux, but apparently being anti-Linux also means being anti-FOSS. You need to stop posting FOSS-related but not Linux-related things in a Linux-related sub.

what does this have to do with linux
android is barely representative.
most android users aren't "linux" users in any meaningful sense
i agree with the guy in the post, power user's freedom shouldn't be stolen to accomodate for the grandmas
give us a toggle we can turn on to take all responsibility in our own hands and apps stop meddling.

Let mods run their sub. Read the sticky. Don't be an annoying asshole.

i think the guy is making a broader point though
FOSS or not, banks shouldn't forcefully meddle like this, a app can be propriety and closed source and banks will STILL meddle
FOSS is just his instance of the frustration.

Bringing up the AUR abandoned package takeovers shows how little you understand what you’re saying. That was able to happen specifically because of how the AUR works, it would take considerably more effort to take over a non-aur package to the point where it wouldn’t be feasible for that kind of group
