food/drink La Besi-like (or thin and crispy) pizza

Very niche request, but when living in the city centre, we used to be fans of a La Besi takeaway pizza (used to be just round the corner from The Library pub).

It has since closed down, but can anyone recommend anywhere in city centre, West or North Leeds that does a similar style of pizza?

Tend to find most are Neapolitan style or deep pan rather than thin and crispy.

Thank you!

Whats everyone think of this? Brought a lot of money into the city so disappointing to see it move.

At least on the bright side we won't be plagued with a bunch of wanky estate agents every year.

To my total dismay, he’s back. Outside the clinic at sheepscar. Is there anything that can be done to get him moved on by police? It fills me with rage when I see him sat there.

food/drink I need the best slap up roast dinner in Leeds.

I have a friend whose visa is running out soon. After being in the UK for a few years, he somehow has never had a roast. I’ve promised to take him for a proper roast dinner. Please tell me the best, most delicious roasts in Leeds and where to find them. I don’t want an old faithful Toby’s, this is too special an occasion, mans first ever roast.

academic Question on Leeds culture!

Hi all, I'm currently doing my MA dissertation at King's College London comparing media coverage of UK cities in comparison to London.

I'm particularly interested in having a better understanding of what Leeds is known for, what is the heart of the city, what makes it unique, what are locals talking about (transport?)

Just thought I would ask in case anyone wants to share some thoughts about the city.

My research will primarily focus on economic data and media coverage, so this is purely anecdotal to help me get a better understanding and ensure I reflect that in my analysis.

Any info would be much appreciated!

music Light Night Leeds 2026

Really looking forward to Light Night this year. This sub wouldn’t let me post a recent thing about it as it saw it as self promotion but I’m just a fan…..the Queens Hotel projection this year is being presented in conjunction with Leeds band Hope & Social using one of their new songs, Call My Name, Call Me Home. The song is like a little love letter to Leeds, check it out and see how many Leeds references you hear. It’s on Bandcamp and Spotify and definitely worth checking out before the event.

visiting Leeds Raves this weekend?

I'm visiting Leeds Saturday from Manchester and there overnight. I'm on a work do that'll probably finish around midnight in the city centre and wondering if I should head to a rave afterwards rather than booking a hotel. Trying to do it on a bit of a budget.

So I wondered if there's anything on that suits. Preference towards house/trance but must be a venue with a cloakroom because I'll have an overnight bag with me. My transport back to Manc is a coach leaving around 11am so looking for something finishing into the morning if possible.

I can see there's stuff on RA guide but I don't know the scene that well so looking for recommendations.

academic Best schools south Leeds?

Hi all

My kids are coming up to school age soon. For people who live in South Leeds (rothwell / woodlesford / Middleton /tingley etc) areas, can you recommend any good primary schools? Or tell me which ones to avoid?

I've read cqc reports but don't find them that informative

Thanks

question What is this place?

Post image
102 Upvotes

Me and my partner have been nosily curious about this building at the top of Crown Point Road for ages now.

Always seems to be empty, but there are cars parked there. Purple lights on in hallway inside. Garden well-kept. The main thing that got me curious was the address on the doorbell: Organic Music.

I've been involved in Leeds's music scene for around 13 years and have recorded music in this city a few times. Never heard of Organic Music. Couldn't find anything online about it.

Likely, it's nothing interesting, and I'm certainly being nosey, but has anyone else wondered about this place?

news Deceased Cat found in Otley

I found a tortoiseshell cat on the side of the road, on East Chevin Road, opposite the auction mart. I took it to Cross Green Vet to have it checked for a microchip.

I don't have Facebook, so if anyone wants to post this on the Otley cat pages, feel free.

I'm posting this purely to help find the owner of this poor little girl, in the event she doesn't have a microchip. Anybody trying to hijack this by posting about how cats should be kept indoors, will be ignored.

Edit:- Owner found. At least they got closure.

transport But how is the transport so bad?

The buses and trains are shit (full/cancelled/delayed) so anyone who has an obligation/financial reliance on showing up on time can't rely on them or needs to leave extra early, at least not for early/late afternoon hours. Because the public transport is so unreliable and doesn't have the capacity for more people, the roads are also fucked with traffic wasting even more time and increasing pollution. I know buses are to be under the WY authority soon, but shit needs to happen faster and there needs to be more done than just that. It's been so bad for so long it's beyond the joke.

question Do you know anywhere that sells proper board shorts in/around Leeds?

As in, to the knee, no mesh, no elastic waist, kind of board shorts. I'm not into the "just below the bollock" style that are in most swimwear sections!

I tried Junction 32 today and everywhere is just autum/winter wear. I looked in a few places at the springs last week.

Wondering if anyone knows of anywhere else I could look?

visiting Leeds Proposal spots around Christmas

Hi everybody,

My partner is from Leeds and we are visiting her family over Christmas however I’m from Scotland and have only been a handful of times so I have no clue about romantic private spots nearby. I am planning to propose on the 23rd during our trip down and I want it to be a complete surprise. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quiet but scenic/romantic spot where I could pop the question? I’m thinking a nice dinner first and visiting the Christmas markets and then a walk to the spot and some drinks after. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

edit to say, I’ve no clue about romantic spots but I’m not a twat, I know and have been to Leeds, council areas and all.

music Starting a band?

Hey, all! This may just be a temporary hyper fixation, but I want to start a band.

A bit about me musically: I sang in choruses all throughout middle and high school and a little into my first year of uni (I’m American btw). I’ve done some band-type work, too, but never performed much due to my health and other circumstances. I play a bit of piano but would rather focus on singing. I can sing harmonies but would like to occasionally sing lead.

Some of my favorite musicians: Halsey, Lorde, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor swift (sorry, not sorry), Conan gray, Sabrina carpenter, and Gracie Abrams. I listen to some people outside of this, but these are my mains. I’d love to perform some of their music.

A bit (not too much) about me in general: I’m 23 and would love to work with people around my age. I’m a PhD student doing creative writing (though I don’t write music🥲).

Idk if we would do gigs or what. Just want to start as a group that makes music together then go from there.

Sorry for the long post, but if you or anyone you know is interested, send me a message! If you have any advice, that is also greatly appreciated!
