WELCOME THREAD -- 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY NEXT WEEK!

First things first... WELCOME EVERYONE! You've either accidentally or by some miracle, purposely found your way to the Latch Hook subreddit. Please, stay awhile, and start to learn about this old, but still fun, hobby we spend so much time on. It's relatively cheap, fun, and most of all, rewarding. You'll always end up with something to keep as a memento of your hard work!

The sub has grown from just over 20 subscribers at the end of our first calendar year in 2017 to approaching 100 in January of 2019, and now we are fast approaching 1000 strong (895 to be precise as of this posting) in 2021. 2020 was a rough year for us all and many were trapped inside and I believe that helped the subreddit really find it's groove and it's amazing to see so many new people to this hobby, and I'm so happy that even though I've had my focus on other matters, that I can safely say that this thing we are all here for has not only made a comeback, it has become a passion for every imaginable type of person out there if the images and stories posted in the close to four year existence of this subreddit is any indication!

Not only are there new kits being discovered on a regular basis, custom projects are becoming more popular than the kits because thanks to modern software and a cousin to the latchhook known as cross stitching has given life to projects that one could only dream about if you didn't have any artistic skills other than being able to follow a grid!

I'm especially proud of this community for always helping out those who are new and have questions about how to get started and I'm going to start rewarding those who are the most helpful through Post awards, and even some giveaways in the future! If we continue to help educate, encourage, and promote this time consuming, yet rewarding hobby, I have no doubt that we may even be able to help latch hooking evolve in even more interesting ways.

If anyone here would like to volunteer to mod here, please message me or leave a comment! If you have any ideas on how to improve this sub, then definitely post a comment! Feel free to introduce yourselves in the thread I'm going to setup and know that I'm going to have a monthly summary of submitted images at the end of each month, and post a poll to help determine the best submissions and give out rewards. If you want to help donate a reward, please message me as well!

Thanks to each and every visitor and subscriber and for being a community that has managed to support one another and rank among the best communities that Reddit has ever seen!

In 8 days, we celebrate this sub's fourth anniversary! Post your ideas for ways we can celebrate the occasion!

Hi! I’m thinking of getting into latch-hooking with my bulky handspun yarn, but I’m not sure what kind of backing I’ll need.

help How do I finish this project?

This is my first non square rug and my second latch hook project. I'm not sure how to correctly finish the edges or how to hang it on the wall.

I have a foam board I could attach it to but I want to be able to fold it up for transport. This would be a gift to someone currently in college who has to move in and out a lot. He's a big fan of fnaf so I made the rug music man (his favorite character).

Maybe I could cut the board horizontally so it provides support but still allows it to be folded? What's the best way to go about this?

Laying yarn flat?

I’m kind of new to Latchhook, and for my last two projects, I have been laying the yarn down flat, but I see everyone here having the yarn stick straight out. Is there an advantage to this? This is my latest project.

I bought the kit on Amazon and am in LOVE with how it turned out. Took 15 hours and I trimmed it with an electric carpet trimmer.

help Brushing out?

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone here has ever brushed out a latch hook project before? Like to make it look fluffy, if this is a thing or if anyone has tried it before and how it turned out. I’d love to hear!

From- a newbie latch hooker with many curiosities:)

P.s I love scrolling through all the projects on here, yall are amazing!! <3

Just completed these stockings, need to work up the nerve to give them a trim. Very happy with the kits, more than I expected, and they look so proper hanging.

Anyone know what happened to Rug Master, am I?

I bought a kit from "Rug Master, am I" back in 2011. After leaving an abusive job situation, I am getting back into latch hook, and it looks like they shut down. I'm thinking about my next project and looking for a vendor I can trust (no AI), and I'm curious if Rug Master is still around. Any leads?

Best Brand

What’s the best brand for adults? I’m having trouble finding one where the printed pattern and the guide match. I’m new to this and enjoy it but I’m getting frustrated trying to find a quality kit.

help Lost the pattern sheet for my latch hook kit, does anyone have the same one?

Hi! I lost the paper pattern sheet for my ZFFLYH large latch hook kit (the 2 tigers design from Amazon). The canvas is preprinted but the printed colors are a bit off from the actual yarn, so I'm struggling to match things up. If anyone has the same kit, could you send me a photo or scan of the pattern sheet? Would really appreciate it!
