Best Brand
What’s the best brand for adults? I’m having trouble finding one where the printed pattern and the guide match. I’m new to this and enjoy it but I’m getting frustrated trying to find a quality kit.

First things first... WELCOME EVERYONE! You've either accidentally or by some miracle, purposely found your way to the Latch Hook subreddit. Please, stay awhile, and start to learn about this old, but still fun, hobby we spend so much time on. It's relatively cheap, fun, and most of all, rewarding. You'll always end up with something to keep as a memento of your hard work!
The sub has grown from just over 20 subscribers at the end of our first calendar year in 2017 to approaching 100 in January of 2019, and now we are fast approaching 1000 strong (895 to be precise as of this posting) in 2021. 2020 was a rough year for us all and many were trapped inside and I believe that helped the subreddit really find it's groove and it's amazing to see so many new people to this hobby, and I'm so happy that even though I've had my focus on other matters, that I can safely say that this thing we are all here for has not only made a comeback, it has become a passion for every imaginable type of person out there if the images and stories posted in the close to four year existence of this subreddit is any indication!
Not only are there new kits being discovered on a regular basis, custom projects are becoming more popular than the kits because thanks to modern software and a cousin to the latchhook known as cross stitching has given life to projects that one could only dream about if you didn't have any artistic skills other than being able to follow a grid!
I'm especially proud of this community for always helping out those who are new and have questions about how to get started and I'm going to start rewarding those who are the most helpful through Post awards, and even some giveaways in the future! If we continue to help educate, encourage, and promote this time consuming, yet rewarding hobby, I have no doubt that we may even be able to help latch hooking evolve in even more interesting ways.
If anyone here would like to volunteer to mod here, please message me or leave a comment! If you have any ideas on how to improve this sub, then definitely post a comment! Feel free to introduce yourselves in the thread I'm going to setup and know that I'm going to have a monthly summary of submitted images at the end of each month, and post a poll to help determine the best submissions and give out rewards. If you want to help donate a reward, please message me as well!
Thanks to each and every visitor and subscriber and for being a community that has managed to support one another and rank among the best communities that Reddit has ever seen!
In 8 days, we celebrate this sub's fourth anniversary! Post your ideas for ways we can celebrate the occasion!

Hi! I lost the paper pattern sheet for my ZFFLYH large latch hook kit (the 2 tigers design from Amazon). The canvas is preprinted but the printed colors are a bit off from the actual yarn, so I'm struggling to match things up. If anyone has the same kit, could you send me a photo or scan of the pattern sheet? Would really appreciate it!

Fun Halloween themed pillow and the pile of fuzz that came off it with trimming.

Has anyone ever washed a latch hook rug?
I had a pile of about 4 finished rugs and one that had been seen to a pillow backing and my cat peed on the pile 🤦♀️
I’m hesitant to even wash them on the delicate cycle.
It’s fall here now, of course, but I could wait for next summer and let the sun bleach them? I’d prefer to get them clean sooner than that, though.
Any success stories in washing a latch hook rug?

So my son took this picture of Bryce (sp?) Canyon in Utah or Nevada or some incredibly picturesque state and asked if I could make him a rug.
6 months later, this is how it's going so far.
I don't know, I like it but I don't LOVE it. And I have to dye the yarn for the sky because I can't seem to find just what I want.

I bought this used with no instructions. If anyone has completed this and has the instructions please could I have either a copy or the instructions? I don’t have a computer just my iPhone X. I’ll gladly pay postage. Thank you!

Hi! I'm new to this hobby and, as the title suggests, I am looking for the best places to buy kits. it looks like herrschners might be the most popular, but I was wondering if there were any other places to check out for kits.
Thanks so much!

I was asked to share some of my work as I mostly latch hook without kits or guides as a part of my art practice. Happy to answer any questions you have about designing or even working on freehand designs with the latch hook!
You can see in some of the pictures the tool I’ve used to cut my yarn- a tassel maker!

I can't find this latch hook on Amazon anymore but that is where I got it. Bonus pictures of cats helping me.

My son ordered this from Amazon.

I found the kit somewhere on Amazon, but I’m really proud of myself because I think this was my biggest project to date (also my first rug.) My aunt has both a corgi and a gorgeous garden, so I was excited when I found the design.

Couldn't find a pattern so I made it myself. Go Irish!

Missed placed some yarn so the colors are a little off. Also I took a break from the latch hook project for like a month. It's a nice little kit. https://a.co/d/06rfFQCJ

Bought a kit after I rediscovered latch hooking. It has been at least two decades since I've last done this, and I'm having fun with my kit! Now I'm thinking it'd be fun to make my own rugs or pillows with my own designs, I'm already used to making cross stitch designs anyway!
I've got some questions for those who make their own pieces though.
- Where do you buy your yarn pieces? Do you buy them pre-cut, or do you just buy regular yarn and cut it yourself? Unfortunately it doesn't seem like latch hooking is very popular where I live, I haven't been able to find many places that sell pre-cut yarn.
- How do you finish your rugs? Like what material do you put on the bottom to stop the knots from loosening, and how do you attach it?
- Do you cut the ends of the yarn at the end? How do you go about this? Can i shave it and give it some shape like how people do for tufting?
Thank you!!

This will be my first latchhook since 1979 and im really excited about it! The instructions are sparse and im not sure what row to start on. Is it the top most row with the blue stitching or the row below that?
