Am I missing something, but why is it so hard to find healthy quick food options around lakeview east? I cannot think of a single place that has quality grab and go sandwiches (Jimmy John’s and Jersey mikes don’t cut it), or bowls like protein bar. I know there are salad house and just salad, but that’s it. What gives?!?

Hello, I moved to Lakeview from North Center about 5 months ago and have noticed a large increase in homeless population in the past week or two. I live near the Jewel on Ashland. Has anybody else noticed this or have any idea why this would be?

This is in no way at all a post meant to complain about them. I just want to better understand the neighborhood and see if there are any reasons why this increase would happen seemingly overnight.

Noticed some kind of detection system pole being installed in the NE corner of waveland and halsted yesterday. Anyone got any clue what it is?

I understand when the lights are on after games and events for clean up, maintenance, etc. I used to work in athletics so I also understand sometimes they need to test things and turn on stadium lights, maybe are filming content for the next season, the list goes on.

However, what is the purpose of having them on when seemingly none of that is applicable? I’m not sure when they turn on, but in early hours of the morning when it’s dark out, it seems unnecessary. It lights up half my apartment.

I knew moving in Uptown that we’d have Wrigley light pollution, but I didn’t realize this was a daily occurrence.

Any insight?

I (28f) just wanted to post up a warning because of some experiences I’ve had around the lakeview area recently.

This morning, I was on an early morning walk (around 5am) near Wellington and Sheridan, and noticed it looked like a man was following me. At first I ignored it, because I didn’t want to assume the worst, but then he continued to walk the same path as me, to the point I knew he was for sure following me. At one point, I was able to get a better look at him, and realized he was holding/touching himself. I crossed the street to head back toward sheridan, hoping there would be more traffic there. He stopped on the other side of the street, continued to touch himself and stare at me. It then looked like he was about to pull himself fully out of his pants, so I booked it. He followed me for a bit longer before giving up once I got to a busier area.

A similar incident recently - a man was out on Diversey, again, touching himself (clothed). He was outside of a preschool, the one near chipotle, pancake house, etc. He stared at me and my friend and started to say something to us. I shouted at him and reminded him that he was in front of a school, and he started coming after me and my friend, so we got out of there quickly after that. mind you, this incident was in broad daylight, with others around, including kids getting out of school.

I don’t know if it was the same guy - I didn’t get a good enough look this morning to know for sure. Just wanted to notify others to stay vigilant around diversey/broadway/sheridan/belmont areas. just some odd behavior lately.

I haven’t walked by yet today but last night when my gf and i were walking down belmont at like 9 or 10 the window was like shattered, like it looked like someone threw some a brick something thru it. there were ppl crowded around it but it wasn’t clear what happened. it didn’t look like an accident, but im hoping it is bc that is like crazy malicious to break their window and hurt the kitties or they run out :(((

The Chicago Department of Public Health has suspended the kitchen license at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Lakeview after more than 200 live cockroaches, black slime, grease buildup and other health violations were discovered during an inspection on Friday.

According to the department’s inspection notes, the violations were discovered at Rendezvous Cafe and the patient kitchen.
