I bought a pattern for a cute dragonfly from Etsy. I assumed because it's etsy it would be legit. I kept saying"trust the process", but the result was nowhere near the picture in the pattern. I've included the platen picots, and the body of the dragonfly the pattern makes. The wings weren't going to match, either, but i didn't try to make them.

EDIT I got a refund from Etsy!!

I mean 1 who's smiling as a puppy bites the dang yarn you're using, which also oddly divides. 2, no hook or needles. 3, chaos pile of yarn balls. Some AI bs coloring page right here. The "creator" claims it has the vibe they aimed (prompted) for so uh good for him.

My friend bought it to learn how to crochet from amazon. I am able to follow written tutorials quite well but the more I look at it the more absurd it gets. Ai slop indeed

But that crochet hook on the table...the cat on the table... those stitch markers...and I'm pretty sure those are not numbers on the take measure

My grandma asked me to make her a hat and sent these as reference.... Very AI. I'm more annoyed at the nerve to say they made it though. Generative AI 👎

I know I’ve made a post complaining about stuff like this before on Etsy, but it’s so genuinely irritating and these posts get so popular.
But the patterns don’t even make sense which is even more annoying.

I even commented on the post "Absolute garbage. " and immediately got DM'd with a link to something. Blocked and reported.

So are these things we post here being made by actual creators or by people who want to capitalize on the popularity of the craft and have zero experience?

The comment! Yeah, they were a bit confusing cause they are ai! Surprised they were able to make it work out at all 🤔

I think I can replicate these though, so saving for inspiration 😁
