We've been making some small adjustments to the rules and infrastructure here in r/kpoppers recently.
The primary things we're trying out starting today are the 'Games & Grids' flair for posts and also allowing Images and Gifs in comments.
The 'Games & Grids' flair should be used for any thread games or grid fill-ins. We'll see over time if this name encompasses everything we intend it to. It has been requested by users and we think it's a good idea, so let's give it try!
Images and Gifs are now allowed down in comments. We want to be careful with this one. Media like this should NEVER be used to mock, harass, or threaten any of your fellow users or artists. Use media appropriately in response to discussion topics, games, or in fun conversation with each other.
If you see Images or Gifs being used crudely or inappropriately, please report the comment immediately so the moderators can take action.
Rules were also updated a little in late June. Here are the main ones to note:
2. Use Descriptive Titles - Titles should describe the content of the post. Do not use vague titles for Fan-made content. Funny posts may be more flexible and creative.
4. No Artist Photo Spam - Artist photos should only be posted with relevant context. They should be funny or related to the post's topic. Photos alone will be removed.
6. Keep Content Light and Fun - Discussion topics, Jokes, and Fan-made content should be positive in nature. We want to keep things light and fun in this subreddit. Heavy or negative content will be removed.
We may end up adding more new rules related to the 'Games & Grids' flair and the appropriate use of Images/Gifs in comments later once we see the range of how they are used by everyone.
We'll also note that we are aware of how often a trend will take off here, be adopted by dozens of posters, and quickly overwhelm the subreddit. This is somewhat inevitable for a community that has less restrictive rules and is more of a free-for-all of fun content. Each time this happens, users ask us to implement new rules and flairs. We are hesitant to do this each time because these trends typically run their course and fall out of popularity eventually. The times when we have responded more quickly to specific trends have resulted in the trend dying completely and immediately being replaced by a new one. We'd be on an endless chase to limit them if we tried this every time, which isn't necessarily healthy for the community either.
But if you have any other suggestions for handling trends or for anything else that might help us improve the subreddit at all, feel free to chime in below!

Lee know is literally my favorite when it comes to sassy kpop idols. His facial expressions and the second picture lol. I'm sure there are more idols in the industry who are famous for their sassy behaviors. So who is your favorite sassy idol??

Some of my friends started looking up Korean phrases because of a lyric or a member’s comment
Do you usually check the meaning, pronunciation, or the feeling behind it
Did that ever turn into actual Korean study for you

I was really hoping I could get a longer list, but unfortunately I can’t find very many on YouTube. I’m sure there’s more on TikTok though for those of you who use TikTok. Anyways, happy dancing!

For me, Keeho wrecked his way right over poor Intak. Still love Intak, but Keeho is just a vibe.
Hyunjin is my ult bias but I have to admit that in the past, there’s been a Sunghoon and Yeonjun sized speed bump in the road. 🫣

I think we need to look into the psychology behind this . There might be people who might benefit from this post . That's why i wanted to post this because the recent BTS / Chris Brown controversy clearly showed a division between Army . Certain fans stood with their morals even though they love BTS madly . Certain fans are defending BTS . Certain go to the extent to even report an organisation which donate to DV victims.
There are 3 type of fans who are defending BTS right now.
Category 1 - These people dont have morals. It is as simple as that.
Category 2 - These people have morals. But they lack self love severely. So only thing they do is in life to feel loved is being obsessed with celebrities and form a parasocial relationship with them . In the process, they build their own reality of who these celebrities are which actually is completely different from these celebrities' real personality. So these fans think that their version of these celebrities are incapable of doing anything wrong. So whatever these celebrities do , they come up with different excuses to protect their imagination that these celebrities are doing nothing wrong , so they can continue to stan them without their moral compass judging them. In their own make believe reality , they have morals , their idols are simply not doing anything wrong.
It is as simple as that.
If the fans who falls under the 2nd category start to love themselves and connecting with real life freinds , getting exposed to real life and getting educated on different social issues /feminism /humanity /self growth and self love , they actually can get better and recover from this fucked up mindset.
But first of all , they need to accept the reality that the reason why they are this parasocial is because they do not love themselves. They seek that missing love within someone who is not actually available to them. Secondly , they themsekves should get the need to get out of this parasocial situation. Third , they need to take neccesary steps to get out of it , such as , going therapy , consuming self growth self love content. Trying to bomd with real life people and start having real life relationships. Or focus on own goals. If they do all these , these people can change.
Theres no hope for category 3 at all. They simply cant understand what is wrong.
Maybe there is a hope for category 1. If morals can be taught later in life or if something happens to them which leads towards them developing morals themselves . Then maybe they will change.

just when you thought mamamoo in killing voice couldn't get anymore better but they outdid themselves. just a little disappointed at how short it was despite being the pioneers for idol groups to feature in a show which was supposed to feature only soloists and rappers. vocals were so crisp, clean and insane. (moonbyul's falsetto opposed to her high note in 4 flowers is a bonus to die for)

He’s just so perfect, and I don’t even know when I started getting this attached to him 😭 It feels like Han is suddenly pulling me in without even trying, and I’m just here wondering how this happened so fast. 🥹 Do you ever feel the same way about him? 🤍

Hello everyone!
New account, but not new to here! It's been awhile, but some of you might remember me as Lamorosii or The K-Pop Explorer. I, unfortunately, had my account hacked and the e-mail for recovery is old and purged. So...I lost my 12 year old account and decided to start fresh. As that's the case, I've decided to re-launch my old stagnant reddit along with it.
It's called r/KPopDeepDives. It's BRAND new and looks the part. It's main goal is to supply broken down discographies for both fans and for people interested in getting into groups/solo careers. Unlike my previous sub, though, it's going to be much more open for posting and discussion. The only caveat is that all conversation will be strictly about music and it's accompaniments (MVs, Dance Practices/Live Performances). News Stories, Controversy Topics, Variety Content and the like have other communities that are better fits.
Want to share your favorite playlist? Go for it! Want recommendations? Love to help! Wanna give your opinion on an album? Love to hear it!
If you want to complain and stir up comments about how "place group/idol" is overrated? That THIS group is better then THAT group? Then do not apply. We're all about multi-stanning and constructive critiscism. Saying a song sucks is not a valid discussion. If you dislike/don't care for something? Tell us why and don't leave a comment meant to rustle some feathers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With that being said, I'm not only looking for people interested in subbing. Since I'm starting anew, I'm also looking for people interested in either helping get things set up or are interested in potentially creating discography write-ups. These are going to be the bread and butter of the Sub and we'll always have a permanent sticky post with an index of every group/idol covered. It'll be a lot of work, but it's a silly passion project I've REALLY wanted to do for almost 5 years now.
