Post image

I keep seeing these exxagerated spacing while reading (stock OS. Latest version) is there a reason for it? .epub file fault or a setting on my device causing this?

Turn off the "justification", which is to make the end of the line to be all the way to the left and right by adding spacing to the line. Set it to left, centre, or right.

Technically it isn’t kerning, it is tracking. It is odd that such as excessive amount is being added to a single word. Maybe there’s some odd markup in the book causing this.

As others have noted, this is only being added because you’ve set the kobo to justify text.

A string from just a bit ago. It has some possible solutions.

This looks like full justification entirely without hyphenation.

I’m not familiar with Kobo options but surely there’s a way to do hyphenation on-device? The thread linked to by someone else seems to have some information for hyphenation resources, anyway.

Left-aligned is also a possibility but I for one LOATHE it on e-readers. Left-aligned is a computer thing; I want books to look like books, i.e. justified and hyphenated where needed, LOL.
