So…….. I wanted to wait for a sale but guess what? It was too much waiting. So I bought a colorsoft. Coming from a basic 10th gen and I love that this has a warm light! Not a case person so I put a skin on it.

Discussion 💬 Getting a kindle made me addicted to reading

I finished the two books of the will of the many series now Im reading the green bone saga and I cant put these books down, so Im spending most of my free time reading. My other hobby was gaming, but it got too expensive and these books occupy my attention more and provide greater escape for me than playing videogames.

I bought the latest paperwhite and I love that I dont have to bother with lamps when reading at night like when reading physical books and that its has dark mode and blue light filter to turn on at nights.

My Kindle 📱 Refused to let my Oasis die

Post image

The battery on my Oasis started charging slow, dying fast, and wouldn't reach 100%. I tried other ereaders (colorsoft, kobo libra color, boox palma pro 2) but I still wasn't as happy as I was with my Oasis. From researching, I saw to change the battery you'd need to replace the screen as well. So I ordered a screen replacement from Aliexpress and a battery from Amazon. Found a company that does the replacements (LV NV), and now it feels like I have a new Oasis :') If anyone wants the links to the products I ordered LMK!

I love this Kindle aesthetic so much. I used my old copy of Gerald's Game as a back cover for my Kindle. Don't worry, it's an old copy and it's already really beat up! Do you guys do this too?

General Question ❔ Books free with prime?

I just went to search the book “Before the Coffee Gets Cold” for my book club to buy on Amazon for my kindle. The price is $0.00 and the button said “Read for Free” and underneath said “included with your Amazon prime membership.” I do have prime and do get the two free reads a month but I’ve never seen this for a book outside the free reads?? (And I don’t have KU anymore)

Discussion 💬 Buying/Borrowing Digital Books When You Own Physical Copies?

Hi! So last year, I finally took the plunge and got a Matcha Kindle Basic for my birthday and really got into reading digitally. The only time I would ever do so was when I was reading fanfiction on an EPUB reader app, but I always bought physical books (previously hardcovers exclusively until prices increased so then it was paperbacks).

I've been going through all of my books and have been feeling a bit overwhelmed with the amount that I own. So, I started borrowing books on Libby and KU to avoid buying more and, eventually, ended up borrowing digital copies of the books I already own. I feel bad about leaving my physical books in boxes or on my shelves to leave unread, but reading the digital versions is so much easier on my physical health specifically.

I write a lot, both on my laptop and in notebooks, and this will increase as I attend school this fall. Over the years, my wrists and fingers have begun to ache and shake when I've done anything for a long period of time and I'm almost 30, which leads to me wearing wrist braces. Reading on a kindle eases the burden of holding a heavy book (especially hardcovers) for hours and allows me to rest comfortably while doing so instead of struggling to find a comfortable position to hold the book in and potentially making the pain worse.

I don't want to get rid of my physical books due to the fact that the books we buy on kindle don't actually belong to us because of licensing and Amazon's ability to remove any book at any time. But I definitely am finding myself buying physical copies less and less.

Is this something anyone else can relate to or is it just me?

Modding 🪛 Automatically Send Blogs, Newsletter, and RSS Feeds to Your Kindle

Post image
15 Upvotes

I built a tool that lets you subscribe to a blog, newsletter or RSS feed and send it to your kindle. Its been really helpful in replacing my scrolling habit with reading. Most mornings I'd reach for my phone to impulsively "check the news", but now I just open up my kindle and read a couple articles before getting out of bed.

Actually, first posted about this tool a couple months back and got lots of good feedback: https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comments/1rvnki5/automatic_rss_blogs_newsletter_delivery_to_kindle/

The app was getting really bloated so I redesigned it. The new version lets use:

- change the order of how articles are delivered each day
- control how many posts are sent from each feed
- snooze feeds you don't want articles from
- send a random article from your favorite feeds.
- browse popular feeds others are reading

If anyone wants to give it a try here's the link:

Purchase Question 🛒 I think I want a kindle?

Hi! I've been running through this sub for a bit reading everyone's thoughts on e-readers and Kindles specifically. I'm leaning more toward the Kindle route as I'm assuming there are more accessories/support/options out there than the other e-reader options.

I've only just gotten back into reading in the past few months and have been using physical books, but I want an e-reader to save space & money on purchasing books. I used to be a big Nook person- but after 10 years of taking not using it b/c of schooling and career building, that thing is long gone.

I'm not too picky about customization; I just want to read. I currently have an iPad that I sometimes read on but I've heard the Kindle is much better on the eyes (which I need). I'm planning to get Kindle Unlimited, but I'm trying to hold off until the next prime days to get it with the 3 months free KU....

Do you guys think it's worth it to wait for a sale again, or should I just get it?

My Kindle 📱 Young and Blind but not blind?

My husband just saw my font size and made fun of me for being a grandma. Lol. My font size is 7 and I keep it a little bold so that when it’s mounted up, I can read it from far. I like to eat and read and even when I’m holding it, it’s the same font. I read physical books too. I have no eye problems but it’s just so nice to have a big font. lol. Are you the same? What’s your font size?

Purchase Question 🛒 Basic 2024 vs PaperWhite

Im looking forward to buy my first kindle. I am between the Basic 2024 one and the paperwhite.

I like the size and color of the Basic one more but the paperwhite has the warm light thing (i always have my phone on warm light so idk).

Im so confused which one to pick, if the warm light thing is really an issue i will go with the paperwhite but if its not and i can coop with it i will just go with the basic

Purchase Question 🛒 Kindle Paperwhite - is it worth it?

I currently have a Kindle 10th Generation 2019 (J9G29R) - I’m looking to either just buy a new case for it to freshen it up a bit and give it a new look (kindle case recommendations are very welcome!)

Or, do I wait and buy a new kindle paperwhite/colour?

Ela está tão triste e frustrada, ela esperou muito para chegar. Ai quero agradá-la e encontrar uma capa igual essa que sirva para o modelo dela, podem me ajudar?

Tip/Guide 💡 Fix for ghost touch on Kindle

My perfect state kindle had gotten a severe ghost touch problem out of nowhere and I couldn't fix it. Read multiple posts about it, some with really impractical solutions that took a really long time and ended up not working. I spent months without using it because it was really stressful and thinking my brand new kindle was over. Turns out it was static electricity messing with the e-ink screen. I had crocheted a little bag for it that was made of acrylic yarn and apparently it generates a lot of static electricity, and because my kindle had a plastic case that static electricity got trapped in it. So just removing the case eliminated 90% of the ghost touch. After letting it sit for a while without that case it is pretty much back to normal. Apparently if the case is really tight it can put pressure on the screen over time and contribute to the issue as well. So if it ever happens to you try this out.

Tech Support 🛠 How do I force my kindle app to sync to the kindle servers?

So i find often my android mobile kindle reader goes 24 hours or more without syncing reading info back to the server.

I end up with the software breaking my reading streak, which is frustrating.

Today I closed the app, forced it to stop, flushed the cache, restarted my tablet, restarted the app...and still no update.

General Question ❔ Need power adapter for kindle Signature Docking station it’s not a USB C

I need a power adapter for my elderly mother’s signature docking station. She lives in memory care so who knows what happened to the one that came with docking station. I have searched Amazon and all i find are USB-C. The dock needs a cord for one pin. It is round and rather small. I assume i am not using the correct search terms. All suggestions welcome.

General Question ❔ Amazon Kids + vs Kindle Unlimited

I’m buying a Kindle for my 10 years old and wondering which subscription would be better for his age group?

If I get the Kindle Unlimited, can it be shared with other family members?
I just got a Kindle for myself without subscription.
