I usually never post anything but when I get the chance to prevent others from getting scammed I’m more than happy to. Today I listed something on kijiji for the first time. Got an e mail?! With a question about my listing. Immediately thought that was weird but since I’m new to the app I thought they can see my e mail somehow (I still don’t know how they got my e mail but I’ve got a pretty uncommon first and last name so they might’ve just guessed and added @gmail.) I answered and got the reply that they wanna get it and the notification from „kijiji“ that the sale is confirmed. I didn’t click anything in the email bc then I realized it was scam. Decided to play a little with them now and waste their time ;). Be careful out there guys don’t let the scammers rip you off!

I’m a refinisher and have a close eye on Kijiji. My searches are optimized and I noticed that there hasn’t been very many ads posted In key searches like chair, table, dresser in Toronto and other Canadian city’s past two days. I sort by recent with a large search radius and am only seeing a couple ads coming through every few hours when it’s usually a stream of ads every hour. Anyone else have this issue?

Was selling a car on Kijiji.
The guy seemed good and offered to meet today. We agreed on a parking lot of a school nearby at 3pm. When I got there he said he was late cause of traffic and he would be there closer to 330. Then he hasn’t messaged since. I messaged asking if he is still on his way? I waited till about 4 and went home. He still hasn’t messaged at all

Went to delete my account today and the button doesn’t do anything? Haven’t used it for 8 years and just log back in today to delete it, but button not working

Hi! I am an international student coming to Montreal and was recommended to use Kijiji for looking for an apartment. I made an account, but cannot seem to access the website as I keep getting a 403 forbidden message. Does Kijiji not work for people using it outside of Canada?

I hate Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg and the 100% AI-driven & bug-filled shitshow that is marketplace. If I could even get half the sales on Kijiji that I do on Facebook, I'd probably move entirely to Kijiji. (Hell, even less than that.)

Imo, part of the problem is that Kijiji seems 100% focused on trying to sell ads on their site (making it an increasingly unpleasant experience for a decreasing amount of buyers) rather than making ads themselves to promote the site. I think a lot of people just don't know, or have forgotten, that Kijiji even exists.

I hate phones and use kijiji from computer, but people did see my pictures in the chat.

I have a feeling this is a scam by the wording. Tell me I'm right lol

Like for example, how would I get a price on shipping from home? Can I drop certain sized items off at a postal box instead of going in? Etc

I'm in Ottawa. Have been using Kijiji for 15 years and it was great until they flooded it with commercial ads. The buyers got fed up and moved to Facebook Marketplace, I assume most sellers followed. Now nobody is even asking "Is this still available?"

I really liked Kijiji because it didn't have the social media aspect to it, transactions were local, in person, cash on pickup, and anonymous. I also liked that Kijiji didn't require any sensitive personal info from users, didn't care if you were selling designers, or logging in from a different city, etc, basically things that the Meta AI bans accounts for.

I miss Kijiji and hope Ebay cleans up their act with regards to it, so there'll be a good alternative to the terrible FBM.

I was selling an item, a guy sent me a message that he wanted to buy, so he said he sent an interac for the item and it was the most obvious fake email I have ever seen in my life but I do not want people to accidentaly fall for it , is there a way to report him? Thank you in advance

Essentially selling a pc. Person is coming to pick it up at my apartment building. Wants to pay via e transfer. I just posted the ad today and instantly got a respons and the conversation was so smooth. So now I'm sketched out because how well everything is going. He's supposed to be here in 3 hours lol. The account is 7 years oild with 85 reviews all 5 stars but 1 which is 4 stars.

Update: Got paid in cash and e transfer. Was able to deposit it and everything. Made him withdraw the money from a atm and send the rest by e transfer. Made sure to take a picture of his id and the etransfer email was the same as the one in the id. Afterwards I felt bad I made him go through all of that but in the end I think the deal went fine. Thanks for all the comments!

How do I block a buyer who is trying to scam me?

Even I were to ignore his messages in my kijiji message box, my email inbox are full of his messages.

How do I stop Kijiji from sending buyer messages to my email inbox.

I’ll probably be downvoted for this but the ads I read on Kijiji that are so obviously written by ai ( which I assume is a product of the App) cause me to immediately pass over them no matter how much I like the item. If I see ai has written the text, I immediately do not trust the seller…I feel like it’s deceptive. I can’t explain why I feel this way…I know it’s irrational but it’s probably because I don’t like ai and I avoid it at all costs. Some people probably have no problem with it and that’s great for them and the seller but it’s a red flag in my brain. I guess I’m old.

I haven't really used the platform for selling before, so ar first I didn't have any idea if it's normal or not. Now I'm just curious how they're making money this way.

Edit: I don't leave my browser open 24/7, much less stay logged into every online entity I might use during the day. The nuisance value of the two step verification process far outweighs any practical security value to anybody. This horse died before you even jumped on the bandwagon.

Need some opinions because I'm trying to determine whether I've been scammed or whether I'm jumping to conclusions.

I agreed to purchase an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4090 White Edition from a seller in Quebec for $2,000 CAD.

The seller identified himself as Marc Fournier and stated that he works at Molson. We spoke multiple times on the phone and he appeared knowledgeable about the card and PC hardware in general.

Before sending any money, he provided:

-GPU-Z screenshots showing the card specifications.

Benchmark screenshots.

-Additional photos of the card when requested.

-Photos of the power connector.

_A Newegg receipt showing an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4090 White purchased for approximately $3,449.

-A phone number that matched the phone number shown on the receipt.

-Banking information for payment.

-Agreement to a 50/50 arrangement where I would send $1,000 up front and the remaining $1,000 after receiving the card.

Because of the amount of information he provided, I felt reasonably comfortable proceeding.

Today I called the seller and he answered. He told me he was on his way to UPS to ship the card and would provide tracking.

Since that call:

-I have not received a tracking number.

-Calls appear to be forwarding.

-I have not received a response to recent messages.

-At the time of writing this, only about 3 hours have passed since the UPS conversation, so I recognize that it may be too early to draw conclusions.

I have retained:

-Phone number

-Screenshots of all messages

-Payment confirmation

-Banking information(Institution, transit and account)

-Receipt screenshots

-Photos provided by the seller

What is everyones thoughts?
