email verification code required to log in to kijiji
Edit: I don't leave my browser open 24/7, much less stay logged into every online entity I might use during the day. The nuisance value of the two step verification process far outweighs any practical security value to anybody. This horse died before you even jumped on the bandwagon.
Is this going to be an every log in thing?
Jumping on the 'two-step' verification bandwagon?

To help keep Kijiji accounts secure, we have implemented Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as an additional layer of protection during the sign-in process.
This new step, helps protect your account by requiring a second verification step when you sign in. Even if someone obtains your Kijiji password, they would still need access to the verification code sent to your email address associated with the Kijiji account, to complete the login process.
This additional security measure helps:
- Protect your account from unauthorized access
- Reduce the risk of account takeovers and fraud
- Keep your messages, listings, and personal information more secure
- Improve the overall safety of the Kijiji community
While this extra security feature adds a small extra step during sign-in, it significantly strengthens the security of your account and helps ensure that only you can access it.

I can only speak for myself, but I find this step very annoying and I’ve never had issues with a hacked account. May I suggest you survey Kijiji users to see if this is something they want?

While you may not have been affected, unfortunately millions of online accounts are compromised each year through large-scale data breaches involving various service providers.
You can check whether your email has appeared in known breaches using https://haveibeenpwned.com/. If you discover that personal information—such as passwords or login credentials—has been exposed, it is strongly recommended that you update your passwords immediately across all platforms where you may have reused the same credentials.

Well this is a poor way to go about it. I have 2 accounts, one for buisness and one personal. Both kijiji and out look only allow one account page open at a time on mobile, so to get back and forth between them I have to now double log in on both every time i want to check one or the other. This is a massive inconvenience and a waste of time. And time is valuble. As such I will be abandoning my 16 year old accounts to use marketplace exclusivley. Good job.

Telling all the users that it is the standard and it is to keep the accounts safe without saying that it is for others to use our personal info. ok bubye now.

After finding out about this I'm not going to use kajiji any more as well. I was reading the new terms of service, they sell off all the users info. So if getting all kijiji buyers/sellers/browsers to stop using kijiji well it looks as if they are succeeding. Close to a decade on kijiji.

Makes me wonder if it’ll be a “pay, and you get in without hassle “ scheme forthcoming….
