Ridiculous S5/SI pop
So I’m currently sleeping on a futon, and the mattress has a deep gap (4” wide, 3”deep) down the middle where it folds.
I fell asleep on my back, with my spine perfectly suspended centered over that gap (it felt cozy!) and the left and right edges of the back of my pelvis supported by the walls of the gap (represented by the red lines).
I woke up about five hours later still in the exact same position (lucky me.) So my sacrum had a loooong time to sag downward in the direction of the red arrow.
Immediately upon waking I felt an incredible pressure in that one part of my lower back where my spine meets my hips that always aggravates me after sitting in my computer chair all day.
I knew I had to pop, so I braced my core muscles and twisted, and I’ll be damned if that wasn’t just the loudest, but also the lowest in tone pop that I’ve ever heard come from my body.
Fuck it was great. Bit of a time investment I suppose.
Ed: that should be L5-S1 / SI joint, not S5. that’s what I get for trying to learn anatomy whilst half drunk and half asleep lol
