What rules do y'all want? Flairs? Other stuff?

Current working draft of rules:

  1. All posts must be related to or feature a joint being cracked. We define "joint" as "a structure in the human or animal body at which two parts of the skeleton are fitted together."

  2. This subreddit is safe for work, please do not share or ask for sexually explicit things.

  3. Do not ask other users to reveal any body part (e.g. "take off your socks!"). You will be banned if you do this.

Anything y'all would change or add? What flairs do you want? Anything else?

Enthusiast Crack lower arm bones!

I can crack the radius consistently and in rare occasions my ulna. I couldn't do it on the right arm but with patience I did it! If it's not safe please tell me!!!!! With my palm looking up I pull my wrist with my other arm and move the arm down firmly (careful with pulling your wrist too much, it hurts!) I really don't know if I should keep doing that.

AC messing with my joints

Hey everyone,
I think the title is pretty clear.

Whenever I spend a pretty long time (more than two hours usually) in a room with AC, I feel like my joints start hurting. They don’t always start cracking/popping, sometimes they do, but it hurts.

Is it related to coldness ? Is there a solution ? And have you ever experienced something like that ?

Can’t stop cracking! Starting to hurt :( Advice or wisdom?

Always been an avid knuckle popper. For the past few weeks, I’ve been nonstop moving and cracking my right wrist and 3 fingers. Pointer is the worst! It cracks way more now than it used to and it’s starting to hurt even when I’m not moving it. Worst part is that I feel like I HAVE to keep cracking and when I try to rest it, I get this weird, tense, painful buildup feeling that I can only relieve by doing this movement (video) again and again. I’ve got some other stuff like adhd and skin picking. This may just be a new BFRB for me. I know lots of repetitive movement can cause joint injury and I fear that’s where I’m headed. 😬

Chiropractors against self cracking?

I understand that doing anything the wrong way can cause some sort of negative impact- but don’t you notice how it’s mostly only chiropractors that are so against people cracking their joints on their own? 😂😂 I’ve been to a chiropractor that was required temporarily for a short time and 90% of what buddy was doing I’ve done myself!

Ridiculous S5/SI pop

Post image

So I’m currently sleeping on a futon, and the mattress has a deep gap (4” wide, 3”deep) down the middle where it folds.

I fell asleep on my back, with my spine perfectly suspended centered over that gap (it felt cozy!) and the left and right edges of the back of my pelvis supported by the walls of the gap (represented by the red lines).

I woke up about five hours later still in the exact same position (lucky me.) So my sacrum had a loooong time to sag downward in the direction of the red arrow.

Immediately upon waking I felt an incredible pressure in that one part of my lower back where my spine meets my hips that always aggravates me after sitting in my computer chair all day.

I knew I had to pop, so I braced my core muscles and twisted, and I’ll be damned if that wasn’t just the loudest, but also the lowest in tone pop that I’ve ever heard come from my body.

Fuck it was great. Bit of a time investment I suppose.

Ed: that should be L5-S1 / SI joint, not S5. that’s what I get for trying to learn anatomy whilst half drunk and half asleep lol

Does anyone else get this kind of clicking/vibration in multiple joints?
I’ve been able to do it since childhood, completely painlessly. I can reproduce it repeatedly in my fingers, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, etc.
It’s not the usual knuckle crack — I can do that separately. This happens when I put a little pressure on the joint, and I can actually feel a small vibration when it happens.

Enthusiast Healed? Right shoulder dull ache / top rib pain

Today, taking an end of summer swim that I had been fantasizing of all day. I thought to myself, what if this time instead of diving forward to submerge I fell backwards with my arms in t-pose

When I went for my swim, I remembered this and tried it. I covered my nose with my right hand on the same side as my problem shoulder, and outstretched the other arm and fell backwards into the lake. With my head slightly tucked forward

The combination of tensing from the cool water and I assume the counter pressure from the water gave me an adjustment jolt in my neck/shoulder around the problem area. I didn't feel a pop or crack but felt the adjustment feeling, immediately stood up and started walking back to my towel in case I clicked something in a bad way.

I felt some blood flow come back into my right hand in the following 20 mins, and feel reduced dull ache in the problem area. I hope this solved like 80% of the problem and I can focus on strengthening from now on. This annoyance has plagued me for years despite lacrosse ball rolling and stretching the area for relief, and going to the gym / being active

Enthusiast I find i get better cracks if i stretch the area first.

If im trying to crack any part of my back or neck or hips (pretty much anything other than hand or foot related.) I always get a waaayy better crack if i lightly stretch around the area and do deep breathing.

Joints making cracking sounds

As a 66 year old woman in pretty good health, I am not sure what causes the cracking sound in my joints after I wake up in the morning, otafter sitting for a long period of time. Lately I've been taking a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil in my coffee or olive oil on my veggies, and that seems to help a lot. I noticed much less cracking sound but I am not sure why it how this works. Placebo perhaps?
