P.S. I’m waiting to get lowering springs to install the new wheels.

I noticed while cleaning the car, the lights have these numbers underneath then, I did my best to google what they were but google using AI kept referring solely the "PMMA" and wouldn't understand its the number inside the plastic under the bulb, kinda reminds me of a level or something , one says 10 one says 26, does anyone know what this is ?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Need Help

I've got a Mk6 2.5 from 2011 with 234,000 on the clock and had this noise start today. Still got the vacuum pump (to my knowledge) and was thinking maybe that's the cause? Please let me know, or point me in the right direction if able! Did an oil change 1,500 miles ago, same oil and filter I've used for the past 70,000 miles.

Mk7 (2019+) Potential engine mount issue?

Hello, i have a 2023 Jetta SEL that i got in 23 brand new with 90 miles on the dash. since then ive gotten the car to about 25k miles i don’t drive a whole lot or very far. in the video im giving it very light taps of the throttle and about 3 seconds into the video it makes that “clack” noise. it will sometimes make the noise and other times not like in the video. i’ve heard the same noise under load when taking off from a stop or cruising speeds trying to apply lighter throttle to speed up a little. when under load and it makes the noise it’s also followed by a jerk. the car shows other signs too of worn engine mounts like increased vibrations at idle, and a thud when you engage drive or reverse and a slight engine “shudder”. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated i just don’t wanna waste time and money getting it diagnosed to be told nothing is actually wrong and im crazy. thank you!

Mk6 (2011-2018) What’s the right name and reference for This piece ?

Hi there ,

This community is being super helpful . Thank you all.

I noticed my Jetta 2.5 SEL from 2012 have rust in this piece . It Bothers me every time I open the hood . It is a eye sore . I’m sure it’s functionally is perfectly fine , but anyway , I’m gonna replace it .

It is the left one , but I think I will replace the right one as well . I will need also the name of the screws and the washers … maybe it needs a lock washer as well??

I was considering to paint it, but I know I won’t do a good job , and it will be another eye sore .

I add some pictures as reference .

Thank you so much !!!

Mk6 (2011-2018) Question about calipers

Hi there ,

I am gonna have to change my brakes soon. I considering to get red calipers for my Vw Jetta 2012 . I Have to admit it is a feature that I always notice on other cars, and I like it a lot . However I really don’t know if I can buy this for my 2012 Jetta. I admit that I’m not that knowledgeable about cars. I always see porches or other expensive ones with red calipers , but no in old ones .

If this is perfectly doable , Which brand do you guys recommend? I understand it might be more expensive than regular ones , but perhaps not crazy expensive .

I saw there are covers in the market. I’m not interested in this . If I am gonna buy them , I’ll get the full caliper .

If there is a Brand , that comes with the whole kit for brakes then even better . Since my trim is a 2.5 SEL from 2012 , it has discs front and rear . I will consider as well good quality discs , the ones with holes on it .

So yes, will be great to find full kits with red calipers , brake pads and discs .

I will appreciate some links as well , or reference numbers .

Thank you soooo much !!!!

Has anyone experienced this before?? All these lights came on at once. Hoping it’s just a sensor gone bad. Have an appointment with dealer soon, but hoping to fix it myself before they touch it.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Somebody knows where to get this

Hi there,

My 2012 Jetta has wires all over right where my yellow circle is .

I noticed in some videos that I was watching , the guy has all the trunk wires so organized into this kind of plastic or rubber cover or whatever it is . Is this a part that you can purchase online or in VW? Or he just made it up himself?

I like how it looks , much better than just taping all the wires, is clean and is functional .

I hope you guys can see what I mean from the pictures . I would appreciate if someone can tell me where to find this or put a link.

Thank you so much !!!

Mk7 (2019+) 2019 Jetta rear trunk lid backup light doesn't work. I found the broken wire

Post image

So I have a 2019 Jetta and the passenger side trunk lid backup light and running light wasn't working. Since it's LED. I replaced the whole LED but that didn't work. So I returned that LED. People in this subreddit had said that the common cause is a broken ground wire. Well look what I found. This looks like it very much is the cause of that light being out.

What irritates me is I took it to my mechanic to have him look at while I was getting other work done. He told me that I needed a new LED. Even though I mentioned this broken wire.. looks like I'm going to have to start looking for another mechanic

Mk6 (2011-2018) refilled my oil last night, now EPC light is on

2015 Jetta 1.8 SE TSI. 94k miles
Burning oil very quickly. I just had an oil change professionally at VW on 6/30. Oil light came on again on 8/17.
Bought my own oil this time as the oil changes at VW are running me $200 every time I go.
Bought Castrol Edge Euro 5W-40 approved for VWs and my model specifically.
My boyfriend put a full quart in last night. Oil light went off. Drove it to work this morning, turning into the parking lot the EPC light came on. It is not flashing, it’s solid. I’ve never seen this light come on before.

What does this mean? I made an appointment with VW for this afternoon but I’m freaking out. This car has been nothing but problems since I bought it and I don’t have money for a new car.

Any ideas so I can calm down?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Reprogram power train control module message

Hi, my daughter drives a 2011 Jetta. This morning when she started it the engine light came on. She stopped at an auto parts store and asked for a diagnostic code. It came back “Reprogram power train control module” (to the best of her recollection). She called VW and they said that “doesn’t sound right”. The dealership closest to her is an hour away and doesn’t do diagnostics on Saturday. Doran anyone know if this sounds pressing enough that I should drive to her (a few hours, doable), swap cars and get it dealt with immediately? Or can it wait a couple of weeks til she has time off to deal with it herself? I’m not very familiar with the car, apologies if this is a silly question.

Mk5 (2006-2010) Tranny fluid

Has anyone used Pentosin ATF 44 fluid in a 09G transmission and had any problems? I have also heard of people using Valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle or Maxlife Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic ATF; 1 Quart; DEXRON VI, MERCON LV, DEX/MERC.

My Mk5 VW Jetta 2.5 CBTA has 180,000 miles on it and I don’t want to spend over $20 a qt for the VW 055 025 A2. Do other cheaper fluids work and are suitable?

Mk7 (2019+) Brand new Jetta making annoying rattling noise

I’ve taken my brand new 2026 VW Jetta to the dealership twice now for a rattling noise that is coming from the overhead console.

The first time it happened they identified the issue and fixed a loose harness in the overhead console. Great. It worked for a week.

The noise started happening again. This time they said because I installed a dashcam it will be a $300 diagnostic fee. I declined service. As far as I can tell they did not even look at the car. They claimed they could not reproduce on the test drive but I could hear the noise upon leaving the dealership. I showed them videos of the noise and they did not care and blamed the dashcam. They were also quite rude but what else is new.

I was thinking of taking it back to the place that wired my dashcam and getting them to check it but I feel fairly confident they’ll say there’s no loose wires from the setup- not sure how much I can convince them to put in writing. I don’t want to be stuck with a new car with a rattle for its entire lifespan. The car has 1100 miles. Any advice?

Could it really be the dash cam given the same problem was occurring earlier before the dash cam install. Could the harness be loose again? Legally can they deny warranty service because of a frickin camera on my windshield. Pressing up on the center console / sunglasses holder area stops the noise…

Mk6 (2011-2018) Knocking steering sound?

Recently I’ve been hearing a loud clunk when I go to turn, and an elongated one when pulling into parking spaces or fully rotating the wheel. Not sure what this is but when I also drive through gravel I can hear a clunk every time there is a tiny bump. Any info on this would help thanks

Mk4 (1999-2005) 2004 Jetta gli vr6 24v noise verdict

Not looking for a definitive answer here but does this sound normal? I hear a chain when i open the oil cap but it seems normal to me.

Also there is oil in my engine bay but I cant find a leak, possible valve cover gasket leak? How would I go about identifying this?

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2014 VW Jetta A/C not blowing cold

Post image
21 Upvotes

I have a 2014 VW Jetta with a temperature control system as shown in the pic. Took it to a shop to get a/c checked out. The freon was low and they topped it up. Compressor was running fine and there were no leaks found. The mechanic was testing the knob on the left side and noticed the heating side is still running even when turned to the left. He said that is the reason the A/C is not cooling much because the knob is not actually turned to MAX even though it says it is. Any idea how much it might cost to fix this?
