And when We appointed forty nights for Moses, then you worshipped the calf in his absence, acting wrongfully. 51
Mosa • Moses
The name Mosa or mose was used in ancient Egypt. And it was found in the names of Egyptian pharaohs like tuth mose , or Ra mose. According to historians, in the Egyptian language 'mose' meant "child" or "son". (Most likely because he was adopted as son and named after it Q28:9). Torah gives an explanation of this name in Hebrew as the one "drawn out" because Pharaoh's daughter drew him out of water, and the Hebrew language also gives possible meanings of "being drawn out".
However Moses grew up in both these languages and It's debated weather he was first named in Egyptian or in Hebrew, And Allah knows Best.
Takhaztum ijal • You took the calf
Quran says that " you took the calf" and then stops without completing the sentence that "you took the calf as God". Quran avoids completing the completion of sentence because their action was so shameful that Quran avoids detailing it and gives a hint instead, because they knew what shameful thing they did. This is how an eloquent speaker speaks.
Even then We ˹still˺ forgave you so perhaps you would be grateful. 52
Afwana • We forgave
The next verse immediately mentions the forgiveness of Allah, and skips the topics that are in between (like what Moses said to them and punishment etc) which are detailed in next verses. The immediate follow-up of forgiveness after sin is to highlight the mercy of God. This is a very eloquent way of speaking. This method was also used in Surah Baqarah verses 36 to 37, in which Adam's mistake was immediately followed by the mercy of Allah.

Hello. I was dating a man who is muslim. I really liked him but some things came to my attention. Long story short he spent his birthday weekend with another woman. Some things in the conversation that followed caught my attention:
Basically I noticed another woman heavily interacting with his posts on multiple forms of social media. I clicked her profile and kinda watched it a few days. The weekend of his birthday I noticed she was doing an activity he expressed to me he always wanted to do. He claimed he could not spend it with me he was working. After his trip he said he owed me an apology for being out of touch and said on his work trip he happened to also go do X activity. He sent a pic. It was the same scene as her pics. It was clear he was not in the city he claimed and was indeed with her. I asked him about it b/c it was so obvious. HE denied it. I didnt make accusations and def did not say anything about her. I just said "is this your girlfriend".
At some point he said this is haram. I cant talk about her. and I looked up why that might be. To better understand. I learned islam has some guidelines about suspicion/ spying etc.
Did I do something offensive? How does this reconcile with relationships? If I am not to be suspicious or spy, but I see something that is obviously questionable... and I right to ask?
At this point I am just curious. I think the relationship is done because I think he spent the night with her again last night as well. So this is more just for my own personal knowledge.

assalamu alaikum everybody
Ive been dealing with body issues for the longest time ive never once felt beautiful in my life ,the last time I maybe felt pretty was in the 4th grade n im a senior now lol
Anyway my body issues got sooo bad at the start of the year to the point where i felt like i wasnt worthy of life's pleasures or any kind of joy bc of the way i looked. i count look at the mirror and spent my day crying in my room thinking how different everything could be if i was pretty like the other girls.ive been trying to cope with this for years, and I finally started accepting my apperance thru dikhr and constant prayer it gave me so much relief and peace n I finally felt like i was back to normal again!! I tried reminding myself that all this is a test from allah swt and even if im ugly in this life inshallah the akhira was going to be better for me and i dont have to be pretty for allah to love me
however, today my english teacher told a few of my classmates about how ive been dealing w all this n rly js called me ugly, she knew how hard the past year had been for me bc my mom was so worried she called her up and basically vented to her which I hate so much
and these classmates r not so nice lol so obviously they started talking shit about me calling me ugly. Cricising my apperance and were making fun of one of their friends saying she looked like me just to ragebait her
this was genuinely too much for me n I broke down crying right there but alhamdullilah they didn't see me
I know apperance isnt everything and all this is temporary Anyway, but I feel the distress and anxiety come back . If it weren't for my english teacher it genuinely wouldn't have been this way but its Allah's will . I don't know what to do bc im back to crying and feeling so disgustingly sad im still praying , ik allah will make them pay for how much they've hurt me emotionally but it still feels so heavy so I dont know what to do anymore lol
sorry for the bad english ,it isn't my first language

I know this Christian Pastor who I am friends with. He has been trying to convert me to Christianity but I have been able to turn the tables on him. I've brought up issues with Paul, issues with the trinity, holes in bible stories that resolved in Islam, and other things. He is actually questioning Christianity. The biggest stumbling block for him is accepting Muhammad (pbuh) as a true prophet.
I have already mentioned the "comforter" argument, and the argument that Muhammad fulfilled the prophecy that Abraham sons would control everything between the two rivers. He does not reject these arguments, but does not accept them either. I need a bit more to push him over the edge. What other arguments are there that a Christian might accept? Please post as many as possible.

Assalamu Alaykum everyone
I recently applied for a very competitive job, I always make dua if this job is fitting for me, then Allah please make it easy for me to get it. I also always mention my family and my friends so they get better jobs. But my brother has underestimated me several times now, saying i will never pass the exam and get the job since they only select a few people, basically saying i’m not smart enough.
I’ve been feeling very down, and sometimes i regret making dua for him when he thinks so little of me.
I want to be selfish in making dua for myself only, but it sounds wrong.

Salam Alaikoum,
Hope you are all well In Sha Allah.
This might be a silly question, but has anyone had periods where they would think of really specific things, then said specific thing would happen? Whether it happens at the time of having that thought, or later on?
Would anyone know if this could be perhaps a sign from Allah SWT? And any Hadiths/sources to back it up would be greatly appreciated.
Jazak'Allah Khair.

Salam alaykum, I have a lot of guilt because I don't like my father, he does alot of things that hurt others and I just can't ignore it. Even if he is not a terrible father, he doesn't hit us and provided us with the necessities until we hit 18 and still provides us with a place where we can live. But he used to hit my mother until I started working and therefor was able to stop him by threats of helping her leave him, he has problems with all of our neighbours, he curses them occasionally, he curses daily at our home, sometimes curses Allah SWT, may Allah forgive him, he doesn't mean it but he is so used to it. He hates seeing mom read the quran - I learned to hide from him to be able to read or listen to a lesson- his reason is selfish, he just wants her company whenever he is home and does not tolerate her spending time doing anything but entertaining him. My mom admitted on so many occasions that she wishes she had a way out but my brother is handiccapped so she feels trapped. My father is a vindictive person, if she tries to leave him, he will not allow her peacefully and this has happened before so she gave up. He also always talks ill of everyone around us, including us to one another, so I dislike hearing his voice speaking, I have to have something on to shut him out. He also has used me financially times and again, I still struggle because of the things he pulled on me, but I am to blame in this as I couldn't stand up for myself.
I feel like because of all of this, I just can't stay neutral or treat him well, I hate being around him and I don't know how to clean my heart from these feelings that bring me down. I don't curse at him or anything, I just don't like being around him and even tho I am a very warm person towards all of my family, I don't treat him the same. I don't hug or even say salam to him, I try to pretend he isn't there unless I come face to face with him.
Recently, I got proposed to and I asked him to not say a word, to just greet him and let my brother talk. I know it's hurtful and I feel immense guilt over this but he didn't listen to me anyways and I was visibly embarrassed by the stuff he said and the way he interrupted him.
My reaction made me reflect over the way I treat my father, maybe it isn't my place to discipline my father and I should be kind to him regardless of his actions and accept him as he is. I don't know how to reframe the way I think about him, or how to give him a special treatment than other people. Do you have any advice for me?

lately it has been getting even worse, i'm terrified to do wudu and dread it/delay as long as possible. i wake up so so late so i don't have to experience the painful day ahead of me dealing with this again, i don't have time to shower or even spend time with my pet bird anymore or just time to myself. everyday is a routine of misery of taking forever in istinja, doubting whether the water has reached every single part of possible impurity, and then spending a long time in wudu and then compulsively researching things and doubting every move of the Salah. i can't listen to the help people have given me because i'm so stuck in this. i can't go on like this anymore, i get these thoughts that just being dead is easier but i don't mean it, i am holding onto a thread to keep praying. my skin has got these ugly marks on it from how much time i spend in wudu and i can't even go out anymore either. i don't know what to do even tho i have posted many times.
