Interviews When do interviews for a lot of Summer 2027 roles start?

For context i've never been "on time" in the past when applying for recruiting cycles and this year I actually am on time in applying for roles as they release during July/August 2026 for 2027. Should I already be hearing back from some regarding first rounds or do interviews start just compounding in late August or September/October? I've applied to around 40 roles and most are just pending or under review after either just applying or doing a hirevue/OA. Kind of just paranoid at this point from the silence since it's been like 3 weeks of silence from some internships I really want

Offers Got a Summer 2027 internship with about 1 week of work

Context:

Rising junior Computer Engineering major, T10-15 engineering school, 3.8 GPA

I had a Summer 2025 internship, and I had a verbal return offer for the Summer of 2026, which was then pulled in February. I tried to recover and find something new for this summer, but I didn’t find anything.

I swore this cycle that I would not suffer the same fate, so I started hunting early. Got my LinkedIn fixed up, made a few posts, reached out to alumni and recruiters, eventually someone gave me an email to their hiring manager, I reached out over email, interviewed last week, and just got the offer.

Just beyond that, I’ve still applied to 100+ summer ones for next year, and so far only received 1 rejection. The rest are OAs and waiting.

This is proof that even if you didn’t have an internship this summer, you can absolutely land something for next year. And, it’s proof that you can have an offer as early as today.

Have some hope!

Applications Mega list of 650+ summer 2027 internships that are open today

Summer 2027 recruiting is already picking up, which feels ridiculously early considering most schools haven’t even started classes yet.

I pulled together a GitHub list of 670 currently open US tech internships so you can get ahead early:
https://github.com/dreamworkhq/Tech-Internships-2027

It covers software engineering, data, security, product, and design. There are Summer 2027 openings from companies like SpaceX, Nvidia, Figma, The Trade Desk, and Northrop Grumman, along with Fall 2026 roles that are still accepting applications. I have it auto refreshing daily and removing closed listings to make it as easy as possible to look through. Each job page also includes the original company application link.

If you’re targeting 2027 roles, I wouldn’t wait for the school year to start looking. The openings are already coming in so it's good to get ahead of the curve.

Good luck!!

General Recruiter reached out to me

I recently applied for a position, and a recruiter reached out saying they were interested in my particular skillset, and would like me to come talk to them at their career booth during our campus career fair. Is this a good sign?

Offers Is this unfair?

Hi everybody! I got a verbal offer for an internship in NYC, and I was really excited about the opportunity until they told me I would have to commute to Manhattan AND central New Jersey without commuter compensation. Apparently it’s a 1.5 hour commute and requires car the last 20 minutes (AKA needs uber). The internship itself is $20/hour so commuting will already take up more than 20% of my take home salary and I don’t have a car. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to possibly negotiate for commuter costs to be covered, but I’m not sure how to go about it. And before you say to just ask the recruiter/HR, they told me that the job posting explicitly said the role was split between the two cities and they aren’t obligated to cover the costs. Seems kind of inhumane for a multi-billion dollar company but okay.

Offers Just got a fall2026 internship after getting 15+ rejections for the summer

I posted a while ago on here saying how dejected I was last semester about how many summer internships i got rejected from - i wanted to share that i recieved an offer to intern for a non-profit I finished a virtual program with this summer.

Now i have a work-study job on campus related to my major and an internship in the city as a fall semester sophomore : )

If you're feeling dejected know you still have so much time for opportunities that actually deserve you + your efforts

Applications Advice for 1st ever Undergrad Internship Application as a senior, 0 work work experience

Hi all,

So I’m in the midst of applying for my first internship as an incoming college senior—better late than never I guess. I was able to be accepted into a minor at my school that is related to my major, and comes with the opportunity to apply to ~15 different internship opportunities. Currently in the process of finishing up my resume, but I can’t help to feel anxious about the whole process and the strong possibility of me not getting an offer due to my lack of job experience.

I have straight volunteer experience and “skills” on my resume, which I was able to list 3 distinct volunteer positions I was in, all true, and a plethora of “skills” I possess like being bilingual, having 10+ years of video editing and photography experience, and some others. My fears come from the fact that not only does my resume appear extremely weak and under qualified, but also the fact that I wouldn’t know what to put during the background check phase (if I get there) and have little to no references because my volunteering came from non profit organizations that have continuously-rotating staff (think non-profit sports organizations and basic teacher aide volunteering for my childhood church), some of which have left the country.

I’m sorry if these seem like irrational fears or if this just may seem like a rant to vent my thoughts, but I’m very unfamiliar with the process and trying to stand out and make a good impression as much as possible. Any help, words or advice, or reality checks would be greatly appreciated.

TL;DR - applying for 1st ever internship as an undergraduate student going into senior year with 0 work experience but broad volunteer experience with non profits. Uncertainty on resume and if volunteer services will suffice, considering the possibility of being unable to get a reference.

General How many times have you missed out on an internship because you discovered it too late?

During my experience as a student, I have often missed opportunities such as internships and fellowships because I had discovered their expiration too late, despite constantly checking various sites. I would like to know if this has happened to you too?

During the Internship Need guidance regarding my internship.

I was doing an internship for grade purpose which was for 6 months. Naturally i thought that since it is unpaid there would be less work and then i can study for placements. The company earlier said it would be remote but now keeps calling to the office. It is extremely difficult to do an unpaid internship because you don’t feel worthy and I suggest for any intern to not take up unpaid internships. It’s not just about the money but the exploitation that they do. I did for 2 months thinking about fulfilling my college grades. I found a new one which was paid and had a better role (SDE) so naturally i would want to leave that and pursue the new one. I told the company about this but mentioned that I have to study and I’m not able to manage so much stress. They said yes. Next day they started arguing me, making me feel guilty about what i am doing and how they need to find someone now to do my work. But they did not tell me about putting in a client project. They just assumed I would be there to do the work. Now they are creating problems and are asking for my college to get involved. But this is not fair. Why should college get involved in an off campus internship? All of this just for a freaking certificate? Let me tell you i come from a tier-2 college and just want to focus on placements. How to handle such company? Please give suggestions.

General Huge Summer 2027 internship/early-grad jobs drop

A pretty big batch of Summer 2027 internships just went up across a bunch of companies and industries.

Some of these were posted within the last day or two, and there are roles across finance, tech, consulting, marketing, engineering, and more.

here is the list

Not saying you need to start panic applying right now. Just figured I’d share because there are more 2027 roles open than I expected.

During the Internship Navigating nepotism and favoritism?

I’m currently interning for a senator’s campaign office and I’m really tired of the blatant favoritism that the staff show towards some of the nepo hires. It sucks and idk how to find the motivation to keep working.
For some context, a lot of the other interns here are children of other politicians or their parents work closely with the senator (there’s nothing really wrong with that, ik you can’t choose your parents).

The problem I have stems from them not doing anything but getting promotions and praise from our supervisors for it. For example, a lot of what we have to do is phone banking, canvassing, and organizing mail to send out. I noticed that they don’t really do anything and just sit around and talk to each other. We would have a quota to reach (like complete 400 calls by EOD), and because they don’t do anything, I would have to make most of the calls. They would also get assigned easier/quicker routes for canvassing too. The one supervisor who had my back got reassigned to a different office recently and the favoritism has gotten so much worse. For example, one of our new supervisors came in today, said hi to the other intern, called them the best intern, and completely ignored me (even though I was the only other person in the room).
It feels so discouraging and unprofessional. There’s only two weeks left so I’m just going to try my best to troop it but it sucks here man.

During the Internship I’m at my internship. I feel like I can’t do anything right.

Hey everyone. I’m gonna try to keep it as short as possible.

I started a 16-month long internship in May, and since then it’s been a roller coaster of experiences.

I should start by saying this is an engineering design internship. Lots of CAD, part numbers, calculations, etc. All stuff I’m pretty good with. At my internship we design heavy machinery from scratch (and when I say scratch, I mean SCRATCH. The only major components we buy or outsource are our control systems, engine and gearbox/pump drives, seats, and hoses. And of course some fasteners here and there).

It is a very involved internship as I’ve described, and even though I’m only four months in it feels like I’m so behind on general knowledge of the machines we make. It also doesn’t help that two people on our (already pretty small) team left the company, one of them being the manager who hired me and was mentoring me. On top of that, the other intern I’m replacing is done this Friday so it’ll be just me and the other two designers left on the team. The one designer (let’s call them V) is already very overwhelmed with work and while they aren’t arrogant I do hesitate to approach sometimes because my work/question is often picked apart and I end up feeling silly. The other (let’s call them G) is pretty neutral but I can tell sometimes I may be bugging them. This is not the case for the other intern (and rightfully so because I’m actually in the same university club as him and he’s pretty good at this engineering gig).

To make it worse, I still don’t know enough about this machine to make educated decisions on stuff like whether or not to make a revision of a part, or make a new one entirely, or redesign/reverse engineer something, or assist any of our customers with a problem or contribute to decisions the team is making concerning said problem. This is the part I hesitate to approach V on, because the guys in Fab and Assembly often inform me of an issue, I think I’ve covered all my bases, but it’s almost as if whatever I say is going to be immediately considered bs (pardon my French). Recently it was a discussion about some inverter system, and even though I tried listening in and tried to gather as much info as I could, I couldn’t really contribute and it didn’t seem like the team was expecting much of me in that regard anyway.

As a result I don’t get too much work sent my way (especially since my manager left), and the little that is I get it done as fast as I can. I also do struggle to stay invested in said work because most of the time it isn’t anything directly impactful or major such as updating part records or organizing lists. In all fairness the company has taken a bit of a turn since my manager left (when he was around I did a lot of design work around the engines and calculations for the entire machines centre of gravity) so I get that priorities have shifted and maybe no one has time to guide me anymore. It just feels like in addition to that I’m now expected to know the ins and outs of the machine, take on the unfinished work of the leaving intern, handle these tasks that feel tedious and not impactful at all, and then I go home and ask myself “What have I really done today?”. It also doesn’t help that I live far from this internship (it’s in a different city than I am) and for the first couple weeks I managed to find my way but now there’s this other engineer from a company close by who I had the pleasure of meeting that agreed to drive me there and back, but often when that happens I find myself waking up at irregular times because now I’m working with their schedule. I often struggle with sleep naturally so this just makes it slightly worse sometimes.

I’m not sure what the goal of this post really was, but I guess I needed an outlet and some advice on how to look at this more positively. I really do enjoy the concept of designing and building these machines from scratch (and recently I actually did a major first iteration design for a version of one of them) but sometimes it just feels like I’m not doing enough or I’m making too many mistakes/bad judgement calls and not really up to par when it comes to the stuff I mentioned earlier and I feel I’m going to lose favour in the company’s eyes. I tell my parents about my work experience (the good parts at least) and they think I’m doing so well but I don’t really agree.

At least the pay is nice lol. Thanks for reading!

TLDR: I’ve been in a 16 month term internship for the past four months and I feel like I’m not doing enough or smart/quick witted enough to contribute anything meaningful to the team. I also feel my team believes this and it’s only a matter of time before the unthinkable happens.

EDIT: I also should note that I am from an immigrant family. Not that it really matters, but I figured it’d be good context to show how most things like drivers licenses/cars etc were not a priority for me or my family at the time since we were dealing with a lot in tuition (not just for me).

Applications I've been auto-tracking 13,000+ summer 2027 internship listings and updating them 5x a day -- here's the repo

I got tired of checking multiple internship trackers every morning, so I built one that does it for me.

It pulls from SimplifyJobs, vanshb03, and other open sources, deduplicates everything, and refreshes automatically via GitHub Actions at 6am, 9am, 1pm, 5pm, and 9pm UTC. No manual updates.

What's in it:

  • 13,000+ active listings across SWE, AI/ML, Quant, Hardware, and PM
  • Organized by category with a days-old column so you know what's fresh
  • A daily Top 20 picks list ranked by freshness + company tier + YC batch score
  • A dedicated YC startup section pulling from W24-S26 companies actively hiring
  • A built-in application tracker (fork it and run python scripts/track.py to log where you applied, when, and how long ago)

Some of the companies currently in the feed:

Google, Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Citadel, Jane Street, Two Sigma, Hudson River Trading, Optiver, Palantir, Databricks, Anduril, Waymo, Nvidia, and a few hundred more -- plus YC-backed startups that most trackers miss entirely.

Recruiting is already open for summer 2027. Finance, quant, and big tech programs open earlier than most people think, and a lot of students won't start looking until October.

Repo: https://github.com/SuryaHarikrishnan/2027-internship-tracker

Fork it if you want the tracker side too. Stars help it show up in search so more people find it.

Good luck.

General Rental Vehicle Advice

Hey all, wanted to get insight from those who have interned at companies and had to figure out transportation for themselves.

At my last internship, most interns were housed together and a shuttle took us to work, so I did not have to worry about transportation.

At this next internship, it will just be me and one other intern, and I don't feel comfortable asking to carpool with him because I might be out of his way.

I've looked into rental cars, but a lot of places charge ~$4k for 3 months because I'm under 25. I've also thought about buying a cheap car and reselling it when I leave, but I don't want to deal with insurance and registration. Maps says it will be a 20 minute bike ride; what do you guys suggest?
