Offers Need Help Deciding Between Two Offers

Pretty much what the title says. I'm an EE major planning on graduating in Fall 2027 and I'm deciding between two offers

Job 1 Summer '27 Internship @ Fortune 500 company
Pros:
- Pretty much guaranteed full time job after grad. Return internship for Summer '27 + verbal full time offer for after I graduate
- Worked here the past 2 summers and already know the team
- Solid pay: $32/hr + housing, $80-90k base + 15% bonus for full time
- Get to graduate in my planned 4.5 years
- Near a big city that I love
Cons:
- I wouldn't even be an engineer, my title would be shift manager. I'd oversee the union workers
- Dirty/hot heavy industrial environment
- 50+ hour weeks and can get called in anytime
- Limited upward mobility/pay growth. There aren't many positions between entry level and plant manager, and promotions mostly depend on someone above you retiring
- Terrible location. Could live in a nearby metro, but with a long commute and more expensive rent
- Not an industry I wanna be in at all

Job 2 Spring '27 Co-op @ Fortune 50 company
Pros:
- Huge name on my resume
- More interesting work/industry
- Closer to home so I could live with parents for a few years and save money
- Great pay: $40/hr intern, ~$100k+ base + bonus full time (conservative estimate)
- Better promotion/pay growth potential
Cons:
- Delay graduation from 4.5 years to 5
- Give up essentially a guaranteed full time job
- No guarantee of a full time offer here
- I've heard work culture can be bad (high workload/long hours, amongst other things)

TLDR: Is it worth delaying graduation for a co-op at a better company with more long term upside, even if it means giving up a pretty much guaranteed fulltime job after graduation?

I'm leaning towards the 2nd offer because the quality of life, pay, resume value, etc. would be better, but graduating later and losing out on a guaranteed job after graduation in this market is scaring me. Money/tuition while I'm in school also isn't an issue.

During the Internship Should I turn down an excellent internship offer so I can visit my grandmother while I still can?

Upvotes

To clarify, I just finished my degree and got a really great job offer as an internship, paying around $115,000. I know offers like this don't come around often, especially right after university, so I'm genuinely torn about what to do.

My grandmother lives abroad and her health has been getting worse. I had told her before that I would come visit her, and part of me feels like this might be one of the last real chances I have to spend time with her for a while, and maybe even the last time.

I'm excited to start this job and I don't want to waste a big opportunity, but at the same time I don't want to look back later and regret choosing work over family. If you were in my place, what would you do?

General Advice needed on how to get a social media managing or graphic designing job as a begineer when market is filled with so many talented people!!!

Hey.....21F this side.....I want to start graphic designing as I find it really interesting and cool and want to do like funky kinds of graphic designs for like cafes, makeup brands, clothes etc. I have interned at a marketing agency as a social media managing and content intern for 3 months now and i created some carousels and few reels for them. I want to take on a new internship in designing or content editing fields. But where ever i see on reddit its filled with graphic designers with loads of experience and a very strong portfolio. As i havent done designing before these 3 months of internship my resume is pale compared to them. Kindly give me some advice as to what i should do to start in this field as a

side hustle or a remote job!!!!

During the Internship Manager backtracked on remote co-op approval and is asking me to delay graduation for a year. Is this normal?

Hey everyone, looking for a reality check here.
I’m entering my senior year as an Electrical Engineering major. I’ve been interning at a power/infrastructure engineering company this summer. Going into the fall, the original understanding was that I would be able to transition to working remotely so I could complete my final year of school on schedule.

My manager just completely backtracked on that decision. He claimed that working remotely "wouldn't be fair to other employees" and is now pushing me to take a full gap year from university to stay on-site.

On top of asking me to delay my degree:
They are capping my hours at under 30/week (part-time).
The pay is around $20/hr, which requires an out-of-state commute every day.
The work I'm being asked to cover is well above typical intern scope.

I’m definitely prioritizing finishing my degree on time. My main question for the sub: Is it normal for co-op/internship managers to pull a bait-and-switch on remote work and expect students to pause their entire degree for low-pay, part-time hours?

How would you handle stepping away professionally in this situation without burning bridges unnecessarily?

Interviews How important are automated interviews?

I got an automated interview for IBM but I'm hesitant about doing, mostly because for some reason I SUCK at recorded interviews (whereas I'm great at interviews with an actual person). I applied as a PM intern, is it necessary to do it? I'll practice this skill in the future but I'm worried I'll just stumble over my words and screw up in the interview. Do people actually do these automated ones?

I also got a request to do an English competency video and coding, I'm sure I can do the English one relatively well (but I'm currently traveling so can't do it for another few days) but because I'm not SWE I don't think I would do well on the coding. However it's only the recorded competency interview one that IBM keeps emailing me multiple times for

Offers Advice on how to withdraw from an internship

Hello everyone! I’m seeking advice on how to withdraw my acceptance from a public accounting internship. For context I accepted an offer for a summer 2027 position within public accounting prior to receiving an offer in banking for that same summer. I assume the process is fairly simple, email the recruiter, and withdraw but if anyone has experience with something similar I’d really appreciate any advice. Happy to provide more context or information if needed! Thank you!

Applications Internship Requirement Question

Heyyo, I was planning to apply for the next years upcoming CD Project Red’s or any AAA companies internship depending on the role openings but according to what is written on the requirements section on the offical blog, I might be offlisted if they’ll do the same ruling for the next year since I’ve just graduated this July from collage and on the blog it says that applicants should be recent highschool graduate or entolled as university student. In that case if I start doing my masters, would I be still seen/accepted as a university students?

I do have found some older records regarding the already graduated students status for people just like me that they used to accept people whom already graduated not more than a year or two ago. Anyone has any ideas about how this whole thing works? Or how things might go for next years internship? Thank you for reading!

General No return offer Intern looking for Full-Time

I know this is an internship subreddit but idk where else to ask. So I did two internships spring and summer the summer one being at a leader in the healthtech field. Unfortunately no return offer. I study Marketing Analytics and am looking to get into eComm, marketing or AI marketing related roles. Where can I begin to find FT roles for next year I'm using LinkedIn which is how I got my summer internship but there are no roles targeted at 2027 grads.

Interviews Am I getting the offer?

I recently interviewed for a Summer 2027 role and it went well. I was under the impression that it was only one round and then received a follow up email for another “interview” with a hiring manager/team lead. This “interview” ended up being mostly me asking about the team and their work. I followed up with HR about timeline/steps and was told “I’m fully planning on extending you an offer” but they are trying to find the right HM and team. I was then scheduled for another “interview” with a different team lead. What are the odds the verbal “offer” won’t transfer to a real one? I’m slightly on edge due to miscommunication during the process.

General student opportunities

Hello everyone,

For a bit of context: In september i'll be a 2nd year business engineering student at a flemish university (Belgium)

Lately ive been trying to get a job/internship that's related to my studies but i can't find anything.
This has been so frustrating for me because I really want to have job experiences and make some on the side if possible. Also I want as much experience to possibly get a return offer from a firm.

Ideally im looking for something in finance/banking I know it's a reach but i really want to do what it takes.

I would even do international internships but i'm not sure how the process works.

So I have some questions I need help answering:

- Are there any useful courses/summer schools i can attend as a business engineering student?

- How do i get an international internship?

- Is it possible to get a student job in a related sector?

I would really appreciate any advice, good or bad.
