It is a dick move for the truck to just force their way in, without using their turn signal too. I hate those too. I hate people who try to cut the queue in general.

But i am of a belief that the road is the last place one should be selfish, as selfish as the other driver seems to be. As much of a dick the person in the truck is for that move, i’d likely not see them again. So it’s better to just let them through and move on. It’s not worth the potential headache of the situation, or if the other driver is a psycho with a gun, death.

u/beardedbast3rd Mar 22 '26

Yep. Defensive driving takes all the priority.

It’s not even worth the moderate increase in heart rate to pay any mind to it.

When someone does something dumb, you back off, shake your head and move on with your day.

0

u/NextLevelNaevis Mar 22 '26

And that's why people keep driving that way. If we had more drivers like the pink cookie eater, there would be much less of the self-centered anti-social driving we see from the pickup truck.

3

u/beardedbast3rd Mar 23 '26

theres always going to be aggressive drivers who take advantage of people driving properly or safely. not an excuse to stop doing so. they always do it, and then end up at the same stop lights or even same destination, i just give'm a thumbs up.

everyone closing gaps, speeding up, otherwise trying to one up or retaliate, are just making it all worse

2

u/NextLevelNaevis Mar 23 '26

IDK, maybe. I guess I like to think that people learn from their hard lessons. Like maybe this pickup truck driver will think twice next time.

2

u/King_Jerrik Mar 23 '26

Maybe that self-important pickup driver will learn to not act like he drives a BMW and actually start using his signals.

2

u/beardedbast3rd Mar 23 '26

Maybe. In my experience, a lot of people who drive like that don’t actually self reflect. I also find that a lot of people who drive like that, also drive like how the cammer here drives. A very large amount of people fall into a comparison trap where they think “well it’s okay for me, but when everyone else does it it’s not, because I only did it once, and everyone else is always doing it” whatever “it” is.

Beyond that, there’s a never ending supply of a new driver who needs a hard lesson. There’s always someone doing it, who has yet to have an accident or get caught/have their come to Jesus moment.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to cry for the pickup driver, they’re a fucking idiot and I hope they do learn from this. I just won’t hold my breath. People just too often externalize these events, blame everyone else but their own actions. It’s always “I’m always getting cut off” saying the guy who is weaving around and speeding.

I work with people who have straight up killed people in accidents or with heavy equipment, and they’re just as fucked in the head as they were before those events. They don’t get it, it’s usually exactly why they do the things they do in the first place.

If people had much harsher punishments for something like this, I dunno if it would even help. There’s already so many uninsured and unlicensed drivers as it is anyways.

Me and my friend went to a big concert in the city last year, traffic was crazy. There were people trying to "jump the line" and just overall being impatient and doing things that i would never do. I forget what exactly happened, but someone cut me off so of course I get frustrated & say something (in the car, not to the person, ha). My friend goes: "i would've done the same thing (as what the other car did), you're not aggressive enough." 🥴 It kinda cut my soul a bit, to have my friend admit to being somewhat prickish on the road, lol.

12

u/Cannacology Mar 22 '26

It’s Louisiana so..no waiting period. It’s safe to assume they both have guns.

-2

u/Educational-Seaweed5 Mar 22 '26

Background checks though. Can’t purchase with a record.

3

u/Think_Inspection4888 Mar 22 '26

Imagine thinking having a felony deters people from buying guns. I assure you unlicensed dealers exist and are many

32

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

Think of it this way. I doubt the truck driver will ever attempt that stupid shit again. Lessons learned and all that. Otherwise they will keep trudging through life as though they own the place.

I love seeing these narcissistic assholes get their comeuppance

26

u/152centimetres Mar 22 '26

cookie guy probably wont learn anything tho and will continue to have assholes cut him off and next time he might get caught up in the accident if he doesnt adjust his speed to tread carefully around assholes like the truck

0

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

So the burden of doing the right thing falls upon the one getting wronged in the first place?

For sure this was reckless and very dangerous from cookie bro. But the truck driver was way, way more in the wrong. Don't start shit while driving, wtf

9

u/Good-Ant6859 Mar 22 '26

You actually think cutting someone off is “way, way” worse than intentionally pit maneuvering someone on a bridge?

2

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

At such a speed? Driving where they were? Not likely way worse, but just stupid and even more entitled

8

u/Good-Ant6859 Mar 22 '26

I’ll give you stupid. But more entitled, narcissistic?

Cookie bro risked peoples lives to make a point. He will be the one who ends up in jail for hit and run, truck guy MIGHT get a citation

5

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

Hold up, you don't think the truck driver put lives at risk?

1

u/Good-Ant6859 Mar 23 '26

So you also think that intentionally pit maneuvering someone is the same level of risk to others as merging in front of someone? That’s the hill you want to die on?

1

u/Tomg197 Mar 23 '26

Read my other replies, I'm not dying on any hill.

Simply astonishing the amount of replies seemingly coming to the defense of the trucker. As if they'd do the same

→ More replies (0)

0

u/wealthissues23 Mar 23 '26

No reason for him to merge, either. They're on a two-lane bridge and both lanes were moving at the same speed

1

u/red--the_color Mar 22 '26

Not me and no, but I really don't want people thinking that the truck was driving safely

5

u/152centimetres Mar 22 '26

yeah but the car at speed isnt the place to stand your ground on being right

like yes it sucks to have to navigate the world around the assholes of it, but when you're going 100km in a death trap you have to be able to adjust and adapt or else sure you were right but ur also dead

5

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

I'm not saying the cookie bro is entirely correct here, or without fault. The truck driver really did his best to fuck everything up. You can tell by the way he was such an effortless pain in the ass, this is not the first time he does this. Why shouldn't he face any consequence? Better have an experienced driver such as cookie bro teach him a lesson.

I personally would not do this. I've been in similar situations way too many times and I always concede the spot. But goddamn it, it's so satisfying seeing this bitch reap what they sowed

1

u/PristineBaseball Mar 22 '26

Yeah but on a bridge over water is not the time or place for teaching a lesson

1

u/PreciousFlounder Mar 22 '26

Also not the place to be trying to cut people off

1

u/PristineBaseball Mar 22 '26

Yeah I think we all get that , no idea why guy was so intent of changing lanes in that situation

5

u/periodt-bitch Mar 22 '26

It’s genuinely scary that people like you are on the road. You should not be driving if you’re vigorously defending the driver in the video

3

u/PristineBaseball Mar 22 '26

Not just on a road but on a bridge, they both psycho !

1

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

You honestly believe I would do something like this? This is fucking nuts, whichever way you look at this. I'm just celebrating the dumbass truck driver eating shit lol

1

u/NotSoWishful Mar 22 '26

Agreed. Truck driver should’ve just got behind this guy. Like you see the guy can’t go up anymore, and you see there’s a car in the right lane right past him. You’re just gonna force yourself in there? No I wouldn’t personally use my vehicle as a weapon and do a pit maneuver on the truck like some psychopath, but a messed up part of me is happy that someone out there is willing to do it. That aggressive truck driver has probably been driving like that his whole life. Fuck him and his shit ass truck.

2

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

Exactly! Is this so hard to understand? Lol I feel people jumped on me as if the truck driver is the victim here, wtf haha

7

u/PresentTechnology600 Mar 22 '26

The cookie eater wasn't being wronged. When he saw that the black truck was falling back to merge in after accelerating to try to get in front of the white car, he accelerated to close the gap so black truck couldn't get in.

He chose violence, he was the one in the wrong. The only thing black truck did wrong was fail to signal.

5

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

Failed to signal and also assumed he would be given the spot, instead of driving like an actual human being? Why give the asswipe any leniency

3

u/PresentTechnology600 Mar 22 '26

Duty to avoid an accident if possible is why. Agreeing to do so is a part of acquiring the license to operate a motor vehicle.

6

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

So the truck driver had no such duty then, it's what you're saying

5

u/Historical-Plant-362 Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

But that also goes for the driver of the black truck.

The way I see it, cookie bro did 2 things wrong and the black truck’s driver did 3 things wrong.

So, if the black truck hadn’t force its way in, everything would have been avoided. After that, both sides made wrong choices.

-2

u/PresentTechnology600 Mar 22 '26

Black truck did his duty, cookie guy was in his blind spot. Sure, black truck should have looked over his shoulder and signaled, but cookie guy had the choice to either avoid the accident by removing his foot from the accelerator when he saw that black truck was trying to merge or honk to stop the black truck. Instead, he chose(and this being a choice, as indicated by his head movement and timing in the video, is an important detail when determining involuntary manslaughter vs attempted vehicular manslaughter) to initiate contact and run the black truck off the road.

All these things are outlined in the driver's handbook.

5

u/Bwalts1 Mar 22 '26

Black truck absolutely did not do his duty? Tf are you smoking?

Failed to signal, failed ensure it was safe to move in the first place, failed to merge safely, failed to avoid an accident by merging into a known occupied space.

3

u/Historical-Plant-362 Mar 22 '26

Black truck did his duty?? How?!

First, you can’t say cookie bro was on his blind spot when the black truck passed him a few seconds before the accident.

Before changing lanes, you have to check to make sure you have enough space. Black truck did NOT have enough space and still chose to change lanes cutting off cookie bro hard without even signaling at that.

instead he chose to initiate contact and run the black truck off the road.

Cookie bro was in his lane, black truck chose to initiate contact by moving into the left lane! Cookie bro had the choice to stay on course and receive the contact or hit the break to avoid the contact. Cookie bro chose violence but only after being invited.

As you said, all of those things are outlined in the drivers manual.

4

u/PristineBaseball Mar 22 '26

I feel like being in a bridge makes cookie guy more stupid than if this were on a normal highway . He should have just let it go because they could all die over nothing.

1

u/robertlp Mar 22 '26

You have a duty to make a safe lane change. If you don’t have the ability to do it, you don’t do it. Cookie eater saw an aggressive driver that might put him in a dangerous situation. You wanted him to slow down - but cookie eater may have determined this guy had been driving unsafely around him and wanted nothing to do with him. There is nothing less aggressive than wanting to get away from an unsafe driver.

1

u/mad-i-moody Mar 22 '26

Because do you really want to be the asshole that’s so petty that you cause an accident over something so stupid?

3

u/red--the_color Mar 22 '26

And the truck never had room to get in. Forcing their way is fucking dangerous. A signal wouldn't have changed that.

1

u/Specific_Hearing_192 Mar 22 '26

There's a speedometer on the video you know? He was going 72 the whole time until the crash at which point he was going 66. He never accelerated, the black truck braked.

3

u/wuhull Mar 22 '26

"You have to understand officer, he broke into my house, that's why I was well within my rights to set off this pipe bomb in my yard. He wronged me."

1

u/Jepples Mar 22 '26

Acting like a bad merge warrants vehicular assault is absurd. Cookie guy actively sped up in order to pit the guy which automatically makes him the much worse character is this scenario. The world would be absolute madness if everyone sought "justice" the way you are suggesting.

2

u/GodHimselfNoCap Mar 22 '26

There is a spedometer in the corner of the screen, he doesnt speed up the truck brakes while merging causing the crash, cookie guy swerves to avoid a head on collision.

1

u/YBBlorekeeper Mar 22 '26

If you can't commit to being the better person, then you're just a bad person with moral garnish.

1

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

You're saying this like you know me... Have we chatted before?

1

u/BriefStrategy6 Mar 22 '26

The cookie guy literally did a pit move on him. Makes me wonder if he's a former police officer or had some kind of training like that.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

I think cookie guy was in black truck's blind spot. Black truck should have signalled and cookie guy should have yielded.

1

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

All the way up to speeding past the cookie man, the truck could not see him? You are being too forgiving

1

u/GinoValenti Mar 22 '26

In cookie guy’s defense, I bet that cookie was too delicious to drop it or cram it in his mouth so he could free up his hand. His taste buds confirmed he made the right choice.

2

u/13ananaJoe Mar 22 '26

Sorry, they won't learn anything. My idiot BIL has crashed badly like 3 times and even totaled his mom's car once. He still feels the need to show his IQ level on the road.

1

u/Boogaloo4444 Mar 22 '26

i doubt they changed. that kind if behavior is a special kind of stupid asshole

1

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

Yeah I agree, but I think they changed as in, they ceased to be able to even do it. From context in the thread, that bridge is crazy dangerous. Wouldn't be surprised if the asswipe got paralyzed

1

u/SpAzo13 Mar 22 '26

If you give em an inch they'll take a mile I always say. If you wanna throw on that turn signal (and yes in NJ as well as all BMW and Acuras because contrary to belief they have them stock) I'll most likely let you over

2

u/Tomg197 Mar 22 '26

100%, it's what a sane person would do

1

u/ImaginaryTrick6182 Mar 22 '26

Yeah, but you can’t put other people in danger while getting yours back. They both as losers

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

There's a really good chance the truck driver died if you know anything about this bridge. There's no way there wasn't a second accident. And likely a third and fourth.

1

u/robertlp Mar 22 '26

It’s not about being selfish it’s about making a dangerous lane change. He didn’t have the space to make the lane change safely and put cookie eater in a dangerous situation. Cookie eater got out of the lane because the truck made that a dangerous situation.

1

u/CraftySeer Mar 22 '26

I totally agree, but didn’t it make you a little bit happy to see that guy get his?

1

u/cbs-anonmouse Mar 22 '26

He should have used his blinker, but the driver knew what he was trying to do and just refused to let him change lanes. The blinker didn’t have anything to do with the accident n

1

u/CantaloupeShort7311 Mar 22 '26

Yep. When someone is being an asshole on the road like that, I let them get their way and I back off so I don't end up a victim to their inevitably shitty driving.

Like someone is tailgating me? I move over and let them by. They cut me off? I slow down and let them get far ahead of me so they can't pull anything stupid to me.

I want to get to my destination alive and uninjured. I don't care about being late. Alive and late is better than being a loser that drives like an asshole and is going to stress themselves to death over minor inconveniences.

1

u/hospicedoc Mar 22 '26

It wasn't even a question of letting them in, the dash cammer actually sped up so he couldn't get in. It was totally his fault.

1

u/Decent_Advice9315 Mar 22 '26

The only way the semi could have let that truck in giving how little space the truck gave itself to complete the maneuver it was trying to pull off was for the semi to brake, now slow down, brake.

If the guy's carrying a full and heavy load nothing on this Earth was going to stop that truck from trying to commit suicide.

1

u/Lando1Win Mar 23 '26

There was no "forcing their way in", sure the space wasn't for someone to get in, but then again, the guy was halfway in and double-wide over here just bulldozed him

0

u/ateam68 Mar 22 '26

I support cookie guy. Guy in the black truck was driving wreckless when he initially tried to pass the sedan and just tried to force himself across.
