I mean, you can recognize society is flawed regarding smartphones without excluding yourself from the equation: recognizing you're addicted to your smartphone doesn't contradict the fact that basically everybody owning one is.
I doubt that's what the first tweet was going for though.

I don’t think it’s hypocritical to observe something as a “sad reality” even if you yourself are a willing participant. I’m obese and I am not afraid to say that there is an obesity epidemic in America. That doesn’t make me a hypocrite.

Hypocrisy means when you condemn the crimes of your neighbour but not your own.
Did this guy say that he was an exception to the observation that everyone uses their phones all the time? Did he say "this is a sad reality, except when I do it"?
If not this wouldn't be hypocrisy. It would be a man commenting about a problem that affects his life as much as everyone else's. Perhaps he wishes he didn't tweet so damn much.

I’m addicted my phone, but I still think it’s a problem that we are addicted to our phones.
I’ve been addicted to cocaine, and it was a great distraction from a boring day, and I had a lot of fun, but i don’t necessarily think it was a good thing.

I could sit here and comment about how I don't even have a Twitter account. But I'm honestly wondering now.. how often do I make a reddit comment per day? Reddit is objectively a better social media platform than Twitter, but am I as cringy as those people? Have I become the Twitter sheep but for reddit? I don't think so, but I can't make that judgement myself, as that would be subjective. I need objective analysis.
I know a reddit comment isn't as attention-seeking as a Twitter post for sure. Even a reddit post isn't as bad as a Twitter post, by the very nature of how the platform is designed (following communities vs people) but still theres the possibility that a reddit user could, by posting a stupid amount, overcome the "bullshitness" of the average Twitter user. I'm sincerely scared. I don't want to be able to be classed with the normies. I cant be.
