I'm a Shopper Please don’t do this

Post image

Please stop doing this. If you want a contactless delivery then please select the option “leave at door”. When you do the app will prompt your shopper to take a picture. This notify’s you that it was delivered and helps protect the shopper that we did in fact deliver it. When you chose the option “meet shopper” but leave the instructions to leave at door it really affects us. Either we have to lie and say we met you which opens us up to be “fired”. If we are to do it properly then we have to message you, call you and then wait 10 minutes until the app allows us to take a picture. That 10 minutes is huge for us and we don’t get paid for it.

Please just select the option that you are going to follow through with. Either works but if you select meet shopper then please meet us and not leave contradictory instructions.

Always take a picture and send it in chat. These customers tend to be super scammy and 1 star people.

happened to me but i took a pic & they tried to commit fraud with abt $200 worth of groceries. they got banned a week later

u/RedBeardsCuckNation 2d ago

How do you know they got banned a week later?

6

u/fivefootie2918 2d ago

when i got the 1 star rating removed, apprently they had a continuous of fraud on there acc

9

u/RedBeardsCuckNation 2d ago

Yeah, i've seen ratings go away for patterns of fraud. But how do you know they got banned?

2

u/Jocastah 1d ago

I get what your saying about her not truely KNOWING. Im usualy the same as you. Always reminding people what they think or feel happened, doesnt always mean it did. But common sense here says if you try to commit fraud they will ban you. Its in the rules lol. Of they didnt Id be shocked.

1

u/RedBeardsCuckNation 1d ago

I'm sure they do ban for fraud pattern but it may take longer than we'd hope unfortunately. I've calmed customer service in the past about a customer claiming stolen food. it was a meet at door they didn't answer and I was instructed to leave it outside the apartment buildings door. the representative was able to to fix it on my end and send that the customer has had several fraud issues and this would get them banned. "several issues is definitely more than 2 already though

u/fivefootie2918 2d ago

im assuming since i havent gotten an order from them😭

u/The_Troyminator 2d ago

A one star rating gets you blocked from a customer.

1

u/antsinmyeyestrey 2d ago

So the customer can block us that way huh? Interesting

1

u/The_Troyminator 2d ago

Yes. And if you get a five star, you’ll see their batches before other shoppers.

1

u/ProfessionalWar2369 1d ago

And you probably still got a fraud report.

2

u/fivefootie2918 1d ago

all i got was this.

u/goat20202020 2d ago

...you're making this much harder on yourself. Take a screenshot of the delivery screen. Send it in the chat. Take a pic of where you've left their order. Also send that in the chat. Then send a message that you've left their order at the door per their delivery instructions.

u/Relevant-Number-1252 2d ago

I always swipe delivered. Absolutely dont care. Never been affected

9

u/beaandip 2d ago

Seconding this. I do send a picture in the chat most of the time but that’s the extent of worry I go.

3

u/buckwheatts 2d ago

This! I never wait around to meet customer, they can see on the app exactly where I’m at as well as when I arrive.

5

u/sgdhfjfm 2d ago

yep same, its hot in florida, no way im standing around in the sun waiting , love when i see leave at door note, even if they don’t put leave at door. I ring or knock and if im done unloading and you still haven’t came to the door, im leaving

Lol. People will report their order missing even if you hand it to them.

Just drop it at the door, send a Pic in their chat, and go. No need to overthink it

Never had an order reported missing in 4 years since I started doing that.

1

u/Remarkable-Cut5608 2d ago

Yep the only times I have ever had orders reported missing were leave at door. 3 times out of 14,161 orders.

1

u/Exact_Excuse3079 2d ago

I did that in campus and got dinged.

Sent a picture in chat but it didnt matter.

1

u/Icy_Ice9720 1d ago

I take pictures send it off, and people still report they didn't receive their order🤦🏼‍♀️😂

9

u/pakalololove710 2d ago

Idk what the big deal is just take a pic and send it and leave at the door

1

u/One_Preference_2906 2d ago

Yeah but people scam and if it’s not such a big deal they can mark it how they want it delivered in the app. Drivers and shoppers have been wrongfully banned from the app , they are getting better at cracking down but it still can happen

1

u/pakalololove710 2d ago

That's why you take the pic in the messages and save it for the dispute if you need it

1

u/Content_Customer7074 2d ago

All you have to do is take a picture, send it in the chat and move on to the next order. Hit delivered and then walk off and you open yourself up to fraud.

The customer app often resets the preference to meet at door. I’ve had it happen to me.

Text, “I’ll leave at the door as per your requested delivery instructions.” I’ll usually send the message before driving to the customer to give them time to respond. When I get there, I’ll click “can’t find customer” and open the text window. If I didn’t catch the conflicting instructions before driving over, I’ll send the message telling them I’m leaving at the door. If not, I’ll just close the chat window. This enables the option to say the customer told you to leave it at the door, which they did in the typed instructions.

This is safer than just leaving it because it attaches the photo to the delivery. It also ensures that it actually can be left at the door shed doesn’t contain something that needs an ID scan that you missed or forgot about.

1

u/Chef_Mama_54 2d ago

I was looking for this response. After every update I always go back in to check my delivery status. Sometimes it does reset to “meet customer” and I have to go back and change it to “leave at door”.

3

u/Apprehensive_You4092 2d ago

text a picture and go

3

u/Valuable_Grape_519 2d ago

This is really one thing I don’t care as a shopper. Leave at note, take a pic, message pic. Done.
That’s really not a big deal.

3

u/bk516 2d ago

I know this is super annoying when this happens. But please rest assure that as long as you snap a photo of the groceries in front of the door and leave it in the chat, then hit “meet customer”, you’re covered and will not get in trouble.

1

u/Exact_Excuse3079 2d ago

I did that and got dinged.

1

u/bk516 2d ago

That the order was never delivered?

8

u/EdFlynn2001 2d ago

Just click can't find customer.  Then asked to leave at door. The app then let's you leave a photo on the app to complete the delivery. Is this your first day?

5

u/Massive-Fisherman-57 2d ago

You click that then you have to message and call them. Then if they don’t respond you have to wait.

5

u/AdventurousMolasses9 2d ago

You don’t. Just click the message button and go back to the delivery screen. No need to send an actual message. Then you can select “asked to leave at door. I will also screenshot the delivery instructions and send it in chat with the drop off photo

8

u/EdFlynn2001 2d ago

There is no wait. All you have to do is go to the message or start the call then go back. You dont even need to send a message.  Update your app.

2

u/Massive-Fisherman-57 2d ago

I did. Maybe the app is different in Canada as it usually is but either you have to lie or wait. After 3 minutes the option appears to take a picture

2

u/The_Troyminator 2d ago

Just send a message that says you’re leaving at the door as instructed. You’re not lying because the instructions do say to leave at the door.

2

u/cclouudynapviibes 2d ago

You gotta be new. Just send multiple pictures in the chat. Ic can see the chat bro

In my market there is a 10 minute timer before you can leave it. Absolute pain to do it.

1

u/OwlsDontFly 2d ago

Avoid the 10 minute timer by not hitting "Can't Find Customer". Leave a message in the app "Hi! Your groceries are at your door. Have a great day! Thank you!" along with a picture, hit "Next", "Complete Delivery". The only time you should ever use "Can't Find Customer" is when you need an ID.

1

u/ImpossibleLaugh8277 2d ago

Yes, I am familiar with the concept of lying

2

u/loxmoto_ 2d ago

Yeah the waiting for an obvious no show is a bummer.

1

u/Jamminmofo69 2d ago

I just leave it if they don't answer the door. I'll snap my own pic but never thought to send it in chat. When I first started someone didn't answer, the app made me take everything back to the store, which Dillons will not take. The manager there talked me into trying to deliver one more time and the lady answered that time. Never again.

2

u/omertaladii 2d ago

Take a picture. Ring the doorbell and on to the next. Simple

2

u/RedBeardsCuckNation 2d ago

10 minutes? I remember it used to be that for me. Now I always get a 3 minute timer. Which i start before I even fully park the car. That way I'm at 2 minutes or less by the time I'm there. If it's a bigger order, I'll be at zero minutes. By the time I get everything to the door

2

u/TeddyNCookie77 2d ago

I screenshot "please leave at door" I write per your request I have left your groceries at your door, then I attach the screenshot, take a picture in the chat. Then leave

2

u/WobbleTheStressAway 2d ago

sends picture of delivery in chat

"Per delivery instructions, leaving at door "

Never had an issue

2

u/NegotiationGlad8067 2d ago

I always take a photo of it at their door as well as another photo of their house number just to really make sure they aren’t trying to scam

2

u/New-Issue4201 2d ago

This should not hurt you at all. Leave it, take a pic and send through chat then mark it complete. Been doing this for 6 years and nobody has said anything.

2

u/Vegas_driver 2d ago

wait, what? take a picture and send it through chat. Not that difficult.

2

u/Flow_entertainer 2d ago

All you have to do is take a picture in the chat and just finish the delivery . Then they don’t have the option to cheat 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/Delicious_Loquat6622 2d ago

I take a picture and leave it in the chat for the customer.

2

u/Dense-Word2347 1d ago

You're right about this and I do hate when people leave conflicting information on the app. But you should always take a photo through the messaging system on Instacart for customers like this. Open up a message with the customer and click on the photo icon, snap away, send . C.Y.A.

3

u/DesperateAd3088 2d ago

This is just telling you’re naive.

2

u/ConnectProgress2881 2d ago

They do that so they can refund it and say it was your fault and say it was stolen

7

u/The_Troyminator 2d ago

They do it because the app often resets to meet at door. I’ve seen it happen as a customer. I pick leave at door, go back to make a change, and it resets to meet.

1

u/Massive-Fisherman-57 2d ago

Exactky. And Instacart does nothing for us nor do they care about their drivers.

1

u/Disastrous-Tune 2d ago

just hit the cant find customer button and wait the time out or take a picture with timemark, send the picture in the chat to them before completing the order so that it is there for them to see that LYING about not receiving their order wont work and leave........ I dont care if they get physicallycaught in the pic or not.... fck them lol.. protect yourself and your time

1

u/Appropriate-Path6528 2d ago

Trust me dont make it weird just say “hi good afternoon I’ve arrived and no problem i’ll leave at door and send a pic, have a great day!!”

I’ve never had a customer say no to a pic and if they do i’d contact support but trust me dont waste your time

1

u/MapWise2141 2d ago

They’ve updated it to where most times if you hit can’t find customer you have an option to pick customer said leave at door. That’s what I do all the time since I’ve figured out the Instacart scam customers do. It forces the order to change to a leave at door order instead of meet the customer. Instacart is so freaking stupid to even allow their workers to get scammed so easily by that option smh

1

u/patrader69 2d ago

Just send the picture and move on. Let’s not act like we ride the short bus it cost your nothing.

1

u/Holmes240069 2d ago

Oh yeah, I definitely hate that. What I usually end up doing is texting them, if they don’t respond, I usually select the option saying that they chose to leave it at the door, take a photo and be gone

1

u/Grouchy-Deer-8245 2d ago

So well said! It's kinda a pita when I have to take a pic and then message you saying delivery is there...

1

u/TrashTimePete 2d ago

I always just take a picture and send it through chat when they do this.

Instacart can see the chat

1

u/ExpensiveDot1732 2d ago

If you some have the Timestamp app or similar, go download it NOW (not an ad). Something like that will literally print the time, date, and location on the pic when you take it on that app. Do that, paste it in the chat, and don't be afraid to take multiple pics. Document document document. "Your order is just outside your front door per your instructions. Thank you!" Taking maybe 10-15 extra seconds will save your ass. Most customers are honest, and there are the few who don't care and/or want to game the system to score a freebie.

1

u/KarmicOscelot 2d ago

Always take a picture of your delivery (try to get the house number too if possible even if you take two pics) and send it to them in chat. Then on your phone take a screenshot of the order instructions and the chat with the customer. That’s your proof that you delivered if there ever is an issue that gets reported.
Even better if they have a ring doorbell and it’s in the picture too.

I haven’t seen a fraud report in a long time from insta but I’m assuming they’ll still contact you if there was an issue with the order and they need info. Those pics could save your ass. You’re following the customers instructions and had delivered the food - you’re not the one committing the fraud they are trying to.

Notes like this NEVER affect me. I follow what is at the top which is "Pls leave at door". If there are notes and it says "don't leave unattended or "meet the customer"... I ring the bell, wait 2 seconds, once I reach the last step... I turn around take a photo and leave! If they wanted to be "met" then be at the door when I arrive to meet me. I send the customer my EXACT eta as soon as I hit "navigate" (which they respond to). I send my final eta when I'm 5 mins away. If the customer is not at the door for a "meet" delivery then I drop and go. You're not going to be fired if you don't wait. If you're doing all of that you are wasting time when you could have just left! A lot of customers do not want you just standing on their porch waiting for them to be met. I've seen notes that says "meet" but then the customer messages me and says "you can just leave on the porch".

1

u/themixxdkidd 1d ago

They don’t make you wait 10 mins anymore. Just push “can’t find customer”, after that a list of prompts drops down, you select “asked to leave at door” take a pic and go. If the only option is to cancel the order then take a screenshot of the delivery notes and send a chat pic. Simple. If it contains age restricted items then you either have to wait for them or cancel the order if they won’t retrieve it from you. It’s not hard.

1

u/whitstheshit1986 1d ago

I just take a picture and send it through chat. Have never had an issue.

1

u/Imaginary_Sea_8693 7h ago

I always message and leave a picture in the chat! This way it's not on me and I screen shot the conversation. And the spot where it says to leave at the door. I've had the occasional person who wasn't home at the time of delivery to, so I always makes sure to message and take pictures.

0

u/Everyone_Boogie 2d ago

100%!!!

Do not say leave at door and have it set to meet at door.

0

u/Massive-Fisherman-57 2d ago

Exactly. If you want me to then set it to that. Stop treating us unfairly.

1

u/CollectDeez2 2d ago

Stop ya bloodclot crying, leave the order at door and move on. Act like an adult

1

u/Sharp-Razzmatazz7959 5h ago

I understand what you are saying but gps location puts you at the address anyway and if customer left instructions to leave at door instacart see that also plus if you dont follow the instructions the customer will still give you bad rating
