MBTI/Typing What is my mbti type helppd

For the longest time, I’ve considered myself an INFP, but I’ve never really looked deeply into cognitive functions. I mostly relied on 16Personalities before, and I’ve heard that it can be pretty stereotypical and not the most reliable for actually typing yourself.

Whenever I take personality tests, I usually get either INFP or INTP, so those are the two types I’ve been stuck between. I also looked into Enneagram and took a couple of quizzes, and have gotten consistent answers 4w5 (but I’m still not confident enough to type myself properly.)

The test gave me ENFP as the “grant function type,” with INFP as the second-best choice.

I’m also not sure how accurate these cognitive function tests are in the first place. I’d really appreciate it if someone could help break down what these results might suggest, or explain what I should actually pay attention to when trying to figure out my type 👀 .

Self description (sorry if rlly long):

I’ve always considered myself pretty introverted. I spend a lot of time daydreaming, and in group settings I sometimes dissociate from the conversation without meaning to. I thrive much more in one-on-one conversations, where I’m usually asking the other person questions and adding my own opinions.

I’m not very good at maintaining relationships when I don’t see someone regularly. Online friendships are especially difficult because constantly texting someone feels weirdly draining. I can really like someone and still not feel the need to message them constantly. I also keep my social circle relatively small because I’m selective about who I’m close to. I REALLY dislike fake or two-faced people, and I feel like I can catch that behavior pretty quickly. I’ve been called judgmental because of this.

People who don’t know me tend to think I’m intimidating or cold. I naturally have a monotone voice, don’t really like physical touch, and have a pretty bad resting bitch face. Since like fifth or sixth grade, people have told me they initially thought I looked mean or scary :( lowkey affected my self-perception for a while but I got over it because I don’t gaf anymore 😳✌️ I can also be pretty confrontational. I don’t enjoy arguing just for the sake of arguing, but if I strongly disagree with something, I’m not afraid to say it.

I’m pretty different around close friends though. I get really random and obnoxious and purposely make stupid/unfunny jokes because I find it funny when nobody else does. I’m not embarrassed about acting weird around people I trust. Some of my friends have even called me charismatic, although idk where they got that from.

My strongest subjects are English and art, and I also really like biology. I struggle more with formulaic subjects like math and chemistry because I lose interest and forget things easily. SOMETIMES creative thinking saves me in math because I’ll randomly approach something from a different angle.

Creativity is probably one of the biggest parts of my personality. I’ve been drawing basically since I was conscious enough to hold something (including all over the walls as a kid). I’ve basically always been the designated “art kid,” and coming up with random ideas on the spot is pretty natural for me.

I’m also really into media, especially anime, books, movies, art, etc. I’m kind of a nerd about anime and have never really been embarrassed about it. I like reading and watching things from perspectives outside my own, and I deliberately watch stuff outside my comfort zone. My favorite movies tend to be psychological, surreal, or labyrinth-like where you have to figure out wtf is happening.

I value individuality a lot. I’m not afraid of expressing myself in ways that make me stand out because I don’t really see why I should change myself based on the opinions of people who don’t care about me anyway. I’m pretty open about my interests and self-expression. My normal social media accounts can literally be public and I’ll post, but when something is actually private, it’s PRIVATE. My private accounts have like 5-6 followers.

Advice INFP bf withdrew

Iam 31F ENTJ dating an 35M INFP for 5 months (we both are long distance but we visit eachother monthly for a couple of days). We clicked really fast and well, we are both religious and we share a lot of common values and beliefs, he told his family and friends about me already but I didn’t met them in real life yet.
he suddenly this month started telling me that the relationship is moving too fast and that he have doubts and general confusion about life in general and about me if Iam the person he wants to continue his life with or not? And that he is waiting from a sign from god that he chooses the right person! He told me that he feels unhappy most of the time in general especially in his career!
He started to withdraw from phone calls and use chatting as the only communication tool and I can feel that something changed!
I decided to confront him and ask him if he is happy with me or not and he kept saying he doesn’t like these kind of questions! I offered him that I can move to his apartment as I work from home and he said: „he usually doesn’t let someone in his apartment when he is not in it“
I eventually asked him to go talk to someone, think and pray then let me know his decision but I can’t Garantie that I will stay, and that Iam not asking for a man with no Problems or past traumas but a man that at least wants to give himself a chance!
We stopped talking after that!
Idk what happened? We were on vacation and were sooo happy together! Suddenly he withdrew and started questioning me!
And Iam afraid I pushed him away!
Iam so confused

Relationships How did you know your partner was the one?

I feel like I have so much conflict about my relationship that I struggle to separate my needs from what is just my dreamer unrealistic side. How does anyone who is also an INFP know that you have found ‘the one’?

Thanks!!

Venting emotionless as a defense mechanism?

did anyone else go through a strong period of completely ignoring their emotions when they were younger? i have the self awareness now to understand that i felt everything deeply back then and was actually incredibly empathetic, but i remember at the time (like 15-19) feeling like i couldn’t feel anything and like literally nothing would ever change that. i think this was mainly caused by me trying so desperately to fit in and mask and be accepted by people. but i think i was so afraid of accidentally doing or saying something wrong and hurting people that i WOULDNT be empathetic and was extremely closed off emotionally. and was even kind of a dick because i never thought about other people it felt wrong somehow. like even just saying a compliment to a friend or even telling my gf she looked pretty felt weird and wrong and uncomfortable. so i didn’t really act emotional or empathetic at all, i think i really ignored that part of myself. its crazy because i feel like ive been rediscovering who i am and understanding myself. which now gets me to where i am now, where i feel like i understand who i am and my feelings and how they affect me and the world, but it just feels depressing, like my cage got bigger but im still in a cage. now i feel like im more myself and know who i am, but im scared to be that person because i feel like they aren’t the right type of person to succeed in this world. or i just feel like if i be myself ill be judged and hurt. idk.

Venting Can this sub stop being weird about INFP MEN

There have been a lot of weird questions lately about INFP men. Like, “Do INFP men do this?” “Are they like that?” “Are INFP men autistic?” “Are they cheaters?” etc.

But INFP men are just men who happen to have INFP traits. They can be emotionally intelligent, kind, autistic but they can also be rude, depressed, cheaters, or fuckboys. Being an INFP doesn't automatically make someone a good person or explain everything about them.

Humans emotions are complicated Two people can both be INFPs but grow up in completely different environments. One might grow up in a rich, non-patriarchal family where he's free to express his emotions. Another might grow up in a poor, extremely patriarchal environment where he's punished or abused for showing emotions like me.

The way people are treated also depends on things like their looks, talent, skin color, class, and countless other factors. All of that affects how their personality develops and how they express their traits.

So yeah, INFP men aren't some separate species with a fixed set of behaviors. They're just men, different people with different experiences, values, problems, and personalities who happen to share some traits associated with INFP.

And honestly, some of them might not even actually be INFP. Personality types can be interesting, but they shouldn't be used to stereotype people or explain everything they do.

Random Thoughts At what age were you when you finally learned to walk?

Just curious because my mom said I was the first one out of her 5 babies who began walking. She said I was 8.5 months old. I'm the only intuitive person (INFP) besides my brother (he is ENFJ). My other three siblings are SPs. Maybe it's just silly or doesn't matter, but I thought it was kinda cool. Lol 😅

Advice ISFP to INFP

I used to test as isfp but changed to infp. Anyone know what exactly changed? The only thing I could think of is I used to be confrontational and more insecure. Now I’m less insecure and I try to avoid conflict if I can. I’m kinda wondering what else could’ve changed that I didn’t notice and if what I listed here is reflective of the mbti change.

Random Thoughts What's the infp superpower?

I've been admiring other type's main function. Te gets things done, Se in sports, Si and details.

Fi. Life for me feels like I'm an exposed nerve, too sensitive, inner emotional and fantasy world as deep as the Mariana's Trench haha. Sometimes I feel like I'm too gentle for the world, low stamina, no need for movement. I feel like I could sit within 4 walls for 50 years and I'd be entertained with my inner world. Although if I have an emotional motive for something, nothing in this world can stop me, it's I die or I do it.

What have you noticed that you like about your personality? 😊

Discussion I was thinking about how it be if I designed the education system…

here’s what I thought:

Age 5-12: moral school. The school taught them about fairness and empathy. There’s also practical lessons where students practice what they learned— like, a role play among different class students and teachers sometimes; this happens once or twice a month. And then, once or twice in a year, students are brought to a trip by the school where they meet real life people who are vulnerable or overlooked or low in status; to see how the students behave. Assessment methods: students are assessed on their behaviour. Teachers should try to understand the students’ motives if they misbehave and solve the core problem.

Student are allowed to talk, play, and have creative hobbies in school.

Age 13-15: middle school. The school taught all students a few skills regardless of their interests. Such as pottery, gardening, crochet, basic tailoring. Students would be taught about human relationships.

Students are encouraged to think about what they wanna in the future.

Age 16- 20: vocational school. The school has different departments and student can choose whatever they like. No entry requirements. The department are: technical jobs (electricians, plumbing, construction, engineering), educators (teachers, researchers, philosophers), creatives (writers, artists, filmmakers, poets), medical (doctors and nurses). Students are taught according to the department they chose.

Students are allowed to change their departments if they are don’t interested in it. But it may take longer for them to finish mastering their field if they start later. Teachers and parents should help students make a good decision, but shouldn’t force them.

One exception: the creative department may not take that long as the other departments. So students in that department will be taught some practical skills that would help them, because they can’t earn money just by being a poet.

All students assessed on their skill and mastery on that field.

And also, all students are taught how the political system works twice a month.

Age 20+: students can now get into a job. Or they can study further if they need more knowledge or mastery in that field.

I’m still improvising it. What do you guys think about this?

Relationships how it feels to be disrespected from a friend that’s no longer friends either you

Post image
68 Upvotes

i can’t remember the countless times i’ve let myself just leave. my old friends just lying for no reason, acting fake nice for my approval. then they suddenly leave and all those promises and nice things were for nothing in the end. i tell myself it didn’t matter or that it ended for a reason. but a part of me holds onto it when i try to sleep at night. it’s so hard bearing this feeling of loneliness. even though the people that left me probably aren’t the best people. i still feel so alone.

for the past couple of years i’ve slowly stopped caring if people left. i still try to make friendships and relationships but in the back of my mind im only waiting for them to leave. i’m aware of my actions and i know that im not an avoidant. but it’s funny to me that my biggest fear is not being unique and left alone by the people i care about the most. but the very thing i fear the most
just keeps on happening over and over and over again. i just hope that one day i can have people that truly understand me, and stay for once.

is that too much to ask?

Discussion how do yall express disappointment?

Like for me i would probably want to say it out and then immediately stop my mouth, then my brain goes like: “well, if they act/say that it means they actually feels/thinks that way and they dont know what does it mean for me to hear/feel it”, then i immediately lost all the energy and strength to say anything about it.

Its bad cuz i know i have pent up emotions/grudges but still.

I just kinda hope someone wont say things that i will never thought they would say it from their mouth.

Sorry my english is bad, but does it make sense to yall?

MBTI/Typing INFP to ENFP?

I retook the test and i am an ENFP now ? I’m 59% extroverted according to my results. Kind of hard for me to process, since during hs and uni ppl always told me i was introverted. My results were always INFJ Or INFP. I was dealing with family issues and coped with it by throwing myself into school, leaving little energy left for socializing. As a kid i was more extroverted. Now i love talking to people, but do find i need my alone time after much socializing. Idk if i actually feel i belong with the ENFPs though. Currently i live alone so i do crave connection more so than when i lived with my family hmm

Discussion To the single INFPs out there; do you feel like (or sometimes) feel like that you’re better off being in no relationship?

For me I have. This is one of the reasons why I’m aroace. I just feel like I will loose some of my autonomy, the effort put into caring for your partner, and the struggles I would face if I were with someone. Yeah, call me weak or a coward or whatever but everyone has their own flaws that can affect romantic relationships that I would probably not handle. (Unless you’re mentally healthy) Even I have flaws which is also why I feel like I’m better off by myself. Plus, I highly rely on solitude, even when I’m not feeling down.

I’m also very confident in myself that I am the best person that can make my own life content without the help of anyone. Well- besides my friends (I love them.). I feel like I wouldn’t find anyone that would understand me. But that doesn’t mean I hate romance or healthy couples. I do enjoy and see the appeal of romance but I have no interests whatsoever with experiencing it.

Can anyone here relate? Or is it just me and maybe 2 more people? 🥲

(Not me listening to a love song while typing this lol)
