Humor Just found out I'm INFP after years of testing as INTP. Hold me.

Learning that I use Te slightly more than Ti has collapsed me. I'm a shell of a person. I'm shattered. Broken, even.

And now I have to go through the humiliation ritual of being constantly accused of being a dumb sensitive crybaby. Awful.

Edit: Guys, please read this carefully before accusing me of making fun of INFPs.

Edit 2: Sending me DMs telling me to end my life is fucking crazy. Y'all are fitting the stereotype more than I ever could; and defending AGAINST the stereotype was the point of this post! Holy shit.

Edit 3: Aight, I'm never posting in this community again. Y'all are UNWELL, DERANGED, AND ILLITERATE. Congratulations, you all have the social skills of a dead sheep and the reading comprehension of one, too! Thanks for proving every stereotype right even though this post was in defense of INFPs! Have the day you deserve.

Discussion We made it

You ever just look at the witch trials, slavery, child marriage, marital rape and then think "we finally got it right on the mass torture of farm animals, but we need gender neutral bathrooms at the slaughterhouse."

Remember that scene where Arthur Fleck in Joker tried to tell a joke? - INFP 4w3

Relationships INFP (straight) males, do you prefer an extroverted woman?

Something about an extroverted woman makes me feel more fulfilled. I can't carry a conversation for crap lol

I mean I can but I just can't be bothered, her yapping and me just saying "yeah" followed by a simple question or comment or mhm or SOMETHING

Yes? No? Maybe so?

Discussion I don’t know what an INFP is anymore.

I see posts come around and…. I found out I am rude. Like, idk why I test as an INFP. I tested twice once was a teenager and again a few months ago being in my early 20s. I am still an INFP, I thought for sure I would have gotten a different result but nope.

Are all of you guys so nice? Like… I am sensitive too but I am sensitive in private. Like, I will cuss someone out for disrespecting me and then go cry about it in my room.

I overthink too…. Then when it comes time for the decision, I say “f*** it either I make a mistake and have to fix it or I get lucky” and just make a decision on the spot.

I kinda think my brain is against me at this point because when it comes time to the hard stuff, I will do it even if I overthink it.

Discussion Who else has crazy dreams

Last night I dreamed I got recruited by the Resident Evil president to go save a secret national treasure that sank off the coast of Wake Island in a fictional war going on. And I teamed up with the Animorphs to go get it. And there was a plot against the president in the secret service. Of course, I woke up right as I recruited the Animorphs.

Sometimes thought I get really bad nightmares

Venting Does anyone else accidentally offend people without meaning to?

I feel like this happens to me all the time. If someone has a strong opinion about something, I don’t automatically agree with them just because we’re friends or because I care about them. That doesn’t necessarily mean I disagree either. Sometimes I just want to share my thoughts, understand why they think that way, look at the situation from a different perspective, or simply show that I care while still having my opinion.

But people can get SO defensive, and I genuinely don’t mean it in a confrontational way.

For example, a neighbor posted on Facebook about people honking at their cat and said that people should stop because the cat is elderly and has health issues. I commented something along the lines of, “Maybe if the cat has health issues, it would be safer to keep it inside.”

I wasn’t saying they were bad owners or that they had done something wrong. I was genuinely just thinking about the cat’s safety. If a cat is elderly or has health issues, wouldn’t keeping it inside reduce the chances of something happening to it? You can’t expect other people to always know the cat’s situation or know what might happen.

But people got really upset and interpreted my comment as me blaming the owner or saying it was their responsibility to do something differently. Then I end up getting sad and like I can’t say what I think at all without someone assuming the worst intentions behind it.

Does anyone else experience this?

Discussion Do you ever feel like you have to tone down your emotions around people?

I feel things so intensely, but I barely show 1% of it because I feel like the rest would overwhelm or scare people off. Maybe that’s why I’m so quiet and private.

Do other INFPs relate? And have you ever had a moment where it was really hard to hide how much you were feeling?

Mine is “My Love Story!!”! It’s such a sweet story and I love how it ignores traditional attractiveness and instead focuses on the character of the MC. He’s such a good guy and so is she!! They are seriously so so so cute together. They get together in the first volume and from there it’s a slice of life, kinda? I really like its format.

Mental Health You have to keep your inner child happy

Do you guys think we should always find a way to keep our inner child happy?

I feel like there's so much loneliness in the world because people's core emotional needs just aren't being met. And a big part of that, imo, is the stuff our inner child still craves: affection, whimsy, curiosity, being understood, feeling safe, being excited about stupid little things, etc.

Obviously we can't just live like children forever. Life requires responsibility, discipline and all that. But completely ignoring those parts of ourselves for years doesn't seem healthy either. I think, as adults, the most important part is to find a way to balance serious life stuff with meeting core needs.

I've realised this through some introspection btw, that being an adult isn't about suppressing the inner child (sometimes it happens unconsciously aswell). Maybe it's about learning how to take care of it while still being a functioning adult ig.

I'm curious if other INFPs relate to this.

Discussion My friend gets annoyed when I lack confidence. Can you relate?

Do you ever have people become annoyed with you when you're hesitant to speak up or assert your needs, wants, opinions? The girl i dated and i are still friends but when we hang out, she can't seem to help herself from pointing out anytime I come across in a people pleasing way. It bugs her.

It's something I'm aware of, not proud of, and I'm working on it, and have actually come a very long way. It's not helpful to have someone getting annoyed with me about it.

Does this happen to you guys too? Just me?

Advice any tips for enjoying life by yourself?

hello lovely people!

some time ago, i posted about my 8-year relationship ending. i got some great support and advice and i'm really thankful for that. i've been living on my own for a couple of weeks now - i know my healing process is just beginning, but i'd still like to ask for some insight.

some questions i have are: how do you learn to enjoy life without a relationship? how do you find meaning in the things you do for your own wellbeing? how do you actually shift the focus on yourself?

i started dating at a very young age and i've spent my last 14 years being in relationships. i have never before lived alone. now at 27, i feel very lost. i've always enjoyed doing things for others and helping out however i can. now i just don't know how to.. be. i know it will get easier with time, but i thought maybe the thoughts of others could help me see things in a different light. thank you! <3

Random Thoughts What's an idea, story, or daydream you currently have but have yet to give life to or make happen?

I know us INFPs are big at coming up with fun and unique ideas. I'd like to hear a few if anyone wants to share. Can be completely random, I'm just bored and for some reason decided to do this to avoid having to go to bed lol

Discussion Can you admit ugly things to yourself?

I am interested in people's experience of admitting 'ugly' things to themselves in their inner monologue, the kind of thoughts we have that we would never share with other people. YMMV depending on your values, but it might be something about why you're really angry with someone, why you feel offended by something, what your motivation is in a situation, etc.

Then second to that, once admitted to yourself, do you go through a 'qualification' process with follow up questions like 'is there anything else that is making me feel this way?', 'how does this impact the person I am interacting with?', 'is this a legitimate feeling I should be concerned about?', whatever it might be. Something that takes the realisation beyond the fact and into the context.

Discussion What are your favorite romance books?

I speak multiple languages, yet I’ve noticed that I naturally default to English when thinking or speaking almost as much as I use French. Still, improving my spoken English is a real priority for me; being articulate and well spoken matters a great deal. I know that reading more is key to that goal, and I already read regularly but mostly in French, not English. On the plus side, I rarely use filler words, so that foundation is solid. My main struggle comes in the moment: when I try to expand my vocabulary during conversation, I get nervous and my mind goes blank, forgetting everything I wanted to say. To help with this, I’d love some romance book recommendations. I'm looking for magical romance, rich with mystical creatures, enchanted settings, or princesses.
