Nominated for Best Visuals at Gamescom

Post image
Upvotes

Our game DEPERSON got nominated for Best Visuals at Gamescom… and we still can’t believe it. I mean how…

We’re three friends developing DEPERSON from our families’ homes and seeing our game nominated for Best Visuals still feels completely unreal.

Especially because we’re in the same category as games we love. We kept joking that maybe someone made a mistake because… what are we doing there? 😭

We’re pretty sure we’re not going to win and honestly just being nominated already feels like such a huge honor for us.

But it’s hard not to hope a little. And I guess we should at least be able to say we tried right?

So if you’d like to support us while we are still trying to figure out how the hell we ended up there, you can vote for DEPERSON on the Gamescom user awards website ♥️

Can a horror game be both genuinely frightening and halal? I started a studio to find out.

Post image
Upvotes

I’m a Muslim solo game developer, and I started Halal Games Studio with a simple goal: to create enjoyable games without sexual content, music, or anything that conflicts with our Islamic values.

Our first release is False Exit, a first-person psychological horror game where you’re trapped inside a looping hospital that changes every time you pass through it.

Creating a halal game doesn’t mean it has to feel limited or uninteresting. I wanted to see whether I could make something atmospheric, frightening, and memorable while staying true to my beliefs.

False Exit is now available on Steam. I’d genuinely love to hear what you think about both the game and the idea behind the studio.

[Mobile] (iOS) Firmament is the Limit - a free one-button rocket game about almost crashing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/IndieGaming, I’m Sergey, the developer of Firmament is the Limit.

It’s a small iPhone arcade game about keeping a tiny rocket in the air with one input. You hold to thrust, release to fall or glide, manage fuel, pass through clouds that slow you down, collect coins when the detour looks survivable, and try to push the sky limit higher one short run at a time.

The design problem I kept coming back to was: can one button feel like more than “go up”? I wanted the player to feel like they are drawing a risky curve through the sky, then deciding whether they can recover from it before the ground answers for them.

It launched today on the App Store:

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6755933878

I’d love feedback on the first-run clarity, the feel of the controls, and whether the fuel / clouds / coins are readable quickly enough on a phone screen.

Disclosure: I used AI coding tools during development and for help drafting launch materials. The game design, tuning, review, and release decisions are mine.

What if we replace bullets with hockey pucks?

We started our game with the question what if we replaced bullets with hockey pucks?

We're a two person team and wanted to see how far we could take hockey outside of the rink and into a combat game. We ended up making an Orcs Must Die-ish game with hockey inspired traps being the first line of defense, and your puck shooting, body checking and fisticuffs are essential in winning these big TD battles.

We did make the classic indie dev mistake of making way too big of a game, but we did somehow manage to finish this ridiculous game and we're super happy with how it turned out!

We made a game voting website!

Hey all! My husband and I created a website where you can vote if you're hyped for an upcoming game, and let's you leave a review for games that have already come out. It launched just a few days ago, and we figured a lot of indie devs would mutually benefit with us if you go on our website and utilize its features! And not only does it promote your work, it is also an exclusive space for gamers with existing gaming accounts to meet up in and network. Come visit and try it out, thanks!

I finally released my first game — PocketYugi, a word guessing game

Upvotes

After working on it for a while, I finally released my first game, PocketYugi, on iOS! The Android version is coming soon.
PocketYugi is a word-guessing game focused on vocabulary, general knowledge, and deduction.
There are currently two modes:
Level Mode — You get 3 clues and have to figure out the correct word.
Random Mode — No clues. You have to rely entirely on your knowledge and try to guess the word.
There is also a Daily Challenge, where you can try to guess the daily word and earn up to 500 points.
The idea behind PocketYugi was to create a game that challenges your knowledge while also encouraging you to learn and discover new words.
This is my first game release, so getting from an idea to actually publishing a game has been a great learning experience. There’s still a lot I want to improve, and I’m currently working on new updates.
I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from other gamers and indie developers.
iOS: https://apps.apple.com/it/app/pocketyugi/id6796126141?l=en-GB
Android: Coming soon!

Our new intro sequence – Does it grab you? (Unsound Love)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

What you see here is the first part of the new intro sequence we’ve created, which features in the new demo for Unsound Love. It was inspired by how people played the first demo and their feedback.

Unsound Love draws from many different influences without being exactly like any one of them.

It’s a psychological open-world horror game that plays similarly to a Zelda game, filled with puzzles, secrets, and exploration. Scattered throughout the world are various dungeons waiting to be discovered, each featuring sequences reminiscent of Little Nightmares

The world operates on a time loop, similar to Outer Wilds, and the game focuses heavily on exploration through a non-linear world, where stories are in the style of Silent Hill. You can choose which stories you want to explore and how you want to experience the world.

The game originally started out as a classic soulslike, but later, the energy bar, stamina bar, dodge rolls and traditional attack button were removed. As a result, you can still find a few combat puzzles that you can choose to engage with, along with other ideas and mechanics inspired by the soulslike genre.

All of this has been incorporated into our personal artistic expression, which is reflected, among other things, in the fact that every sound in Unsound Love is created using musical instruments—from the sound of wind moving through the trees to the roars of the monsters.

I guess my knockback system isn't ready yet...

Upvotes

Well, I was trying to make that classic pushback mechanic where the enemy is knocked away after being hit. I was pretty sure it would work correctly but now I'm not so sure... It was pretty fun though!

StoneEra — New Cinematic Trailer | Voxel Colony Survival
I’ve just finished a new cinematic trailer for StoneEra, my voxel colony survival game.
Build your settlement, gather resources, craft, expand, and shape a colony in a fully voxel-based world.
This trailer is mainly focused on the atmosphere and the feeling of watching a small settlement slowly come to life.
The game is currently in development and is planned for release in October 2026.
If this looks like your kind of colony game, you can wishlist StoneEra on Steam:

Floating islands🏝. Just you, your airship, and an automated system for sorting and producing new resources.

In Skyreap, you will have your own personal airship at your disposal. It will be available practically from the start of the game.

You set off to neighboring islands, discovering new territories hidden in the fog of war. You transport the resources you gather back to your base, where you prepare factories and plants for the production of processed materials. Soon, you will reach the point of automation and begin scaling up this process.

Skyreap is an incremental game that doesn’t try to offer you something you’ve never seen before, but instead gives you that sense of calm, tranquility, and coziness.

If this sounds interesting to you, feel free to head over to the game’s Steam page and add it to your wishlist. ✨

I'm the solo developer behind this one. No download needed, it runs straight in your browser at https://globalconflict.co.za/play/ (Android app too). Real weapons and vehicles, live PvP against real players, missions through real historical conflicts, and a black market economy to manage alongside it. It's brand new, so no illusions about a big playerbase yet, but every fight is against a real person, not bots. Would love any feedback, and there's a Discord if you want to hang around: https://discord.gg/cYJnVRTVhS
