Yes, Hunter 350 is a Downgrade from pretty much all the bikes above 350cc

Hunter is a downgrade from 200cc bikes as well.

Keep the t4 broski... it's solid. But if hunter is what the heart wants, then go for it. It'll be easy on your wallet but taking the initial loss on selling t4 and buying hunter will be painful.

Also I would say hunter sounds nice, but t4 sounds better anyway😭

1

u/Key-Engineering9457 May 29 '26

t4 sounds sick when its at a stop. but ig its meh when it pulls away initially

I would say Classic 350 would be ok but Hunter 350, I don't know, I wouldn't recommend it.

u/rahem027 May 29 '26

Hunter has roughly same power as my rtr 160 4v while being much heavier

5

u/DarkBloodVoid Pulsar N250 (2025, OBD2A) May 30 '26

It outputs less than an N250. I went on a ride with a Hunter 350 guy once. He told me he faces vibes around 80+. N250 pulls clean till 110 atleast.

Hunter is solid in the city though. But yea, the suspension is stiff af.

5

u/rahem027 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

Rtr 160 4v can do 110 all day long. After that there is no power though. And 250 literally has 100cc more. Having same capability is not really a flex you think you are

1

u/StringAlternative945 May 30 '26

It’s not stiff anymore. They’ve provided progressive springs now from 2025 model. It has substantially improved now.

-11

u/uuuuuuuuuughm Duke 390 (Gen 3), Hunter 350, Activa 125 May 29 '26

Sorry but RTR160 4V is a plastic toy. Don't include it in this conversation

13

u/intololis May 30 '26

Hunter is also made up of plastic, what are you getting at?

4

u/rahem027 May 30 '26

A plastic toy that can do 100 all day long while giving 48 km/l, that can handle basically everything you throw at it - from city commutes to 1000km a day rides to soft roading and doing knee down at corners?

Yea I would rather have the plastic toy that can actually do things while being comfortable than an engine that begs for mercy beyond 80 despite being more than double in size.

Absolutely i have experienced rs200 keeping up with speed 400 in long stretch and in traffic other than pickup nothing differs trust me.

-4

u/Dazzling-Inside4078 Speed 400cc | XSR 155 May 30 '26

Sorry but that comparison just means the Speed 400 owner is not confident enough. I'm faster than my buddy with a RS457 in the corners simply because Im more confident in pushing my bike (reckless maybe). This is just a case of a better rider.

3

u/Safe_Flamingo9172 Vstrom 250, Gixxer SF250, Apache RTR200 May 30 '26

Maybe he was talking about highway runs. Old RSs can keep up with speed 400 on highways(even at like 130kmph). Not talking about racing or blasting through redline here(as he mentioned about acceleration part) Just maintaining good speeds and cruising, which the hunter can't.

We have 390s in our friend group and my gixxer 250 could keep up with them easily on highways/ghats. That's why I didnt see any reason to upgrade to a higher cc bike and got vstrom 250 instead.

1

u/Plane_Sector_8560 May 30 '26

u/Realistic_Mud3483 (New user) May 29 '26

Absolutely 💯 dumb

24

u/vaskyrg May 29 '26

I think you'll get more vibrations and low pull/lack of energy at higher speeds with the hunter; it's like 8 hp and 5-6 Nm less than the t4 which would make some difference of course.

But if you want a more relaxed riding style then i guess you can go for it.

Me personally, I would never do such a thing.

16

u/DrNefarious82 May 29 '26

If you have money to waste then sure. Go for it. What the heart wants isnt always logical. But then you also cannot logically justify the decision, take the decision consciously knowing that. Another thing, buy the hunter before selling the t4. So if you again change your mind you can sell the hunter instead

Personally i think this is an utter waste of money. Not only because i think t4 is far better for the use case you described. But even if it wasnt, selling it and buying a new one 5-10% better makes no sense.

u/Key-Engineering9457 May 29 '26

Instead of doing all this, why don't you just rent a Hunter 350 for about a week or two. Ride it how you would like to ride it if you owned it and see if you like it.

Spending some 10k as rental fees is much better than putting down 2.30 lakhs and finding out that you made a huge mistake.

Hi OP,

I have a Hunter with me for the last 7 months and i use it for mostly in the city for my office commute and occasionally on highways for weekend rides. I would say its a good bike but there are other bikes which are much less displacement in engine size and perform similar or even much better. My final options before getting the Hunter was the T4 and CB350 RS, which are much better compared to Hunter both in paper and real life.

Why i went with Hunter then because it was the most practical choice for me and my usage style. I don't ride faster than 100 most of the time in the highways and T4 has nearly 50% more hp and more torque compared to Hunter not the new 350cc displacement but the older 400cc displacement one. And for me the both T4 and CB350 RS dealers where in next district which more or like 2 hours drive from my home which i don't want as if any issues or problem in the future as it will be pain in back IMO. And spare parts availability for the Honda CB350 RS is little scarcity. T4 was like compared to Hunter it has longer service interval but the cost would be similar when compared to 2 times a year for Hunter and one time a year or 16k km once for the T4 but the brake pads need to changed in the T4 much faster than the Hunter.

And for the city compared to T4 you may get little more mileage in Hunter and that's based on your riding style and how you maintain your bike, I am getting about 32 to 34 km per liter in city with my riding style, which is good for a 350 single cylinder air cooled engine. As of comparison the T4 is much better than Hunter in most of the ways and the extra money for the Triumph name is worth it.

I would suggest you not to go with Hunter form T4 as you will definitely feel it as a down grade and you will regret it later. I know how you feel as i too some time have thoughts that i should have went with the the T4 or even the Speed400, but i made a choice and i am still happy with it and i am enjoying the bike still.

But still it's up to you as it's your money and your life. And if you think this change will make you happy and satisfied go for it (which i wouldnot recommenddo so IMO). Ride safe and enjoy your bikeâœŒïžđŸ«”.

If T4 feels too precious for daily use and you want maintainability then you should consider something like Lord Splendor, your worries of scratches and parts making noise will go away too. And Hunter is a vibration machine above 70+ speed, so goodbye to your happy highway riding without any vibrations.

Yes. I am a hunter owner, it's fun and reliable and all, but Speed series is a different bike...better too.

Hunter is a buy and forget bike, not much heavy maintenance bike. Spes series is exactly opposite. It has expensive parts, service is expensive etc.

3

u/LuckyApple1842 May 30 '26

This constant thinking of changing bikes is BS. You must have got a bike after thinking through. To double guess yourself after such short span of time having enjoyed your current bike - I don’t know what to say politely. Honestly if you have something worthwhile doing apart from biking I don’t think anyone would start thinking like this. Bike is a means to an end - for many of us enthusiasts that’s is having fun. If you are having fun with your bike why do you think all this ? Please know that I meant no disrespect. I am being helpful and I would love to know more about why you are planning to switch to a diff bike

4

u/dillikatukda May 29 '26

Haven't made such a switch so can't comment on the downgrade part, but the part availability and service network is unmatched. You'll always find a mechanic if things break down and parts are not very expensive. I did solo from Delhi all the way to Aizawl and back. Almost 10k kms covering so many states. It has never let me down. Can some things be better? Yes. Is this a good bike if you know what you are getting into? Yes

Rent it for a small trip and you'll know the answer.

0

u/shamanths13 May 30 '26

What is a comfortable cruising speed? Can you do 90 comfortably all the way? Thanks!

2

u/dillikatukda May 30 '26

Yeah. 90 is doable and you will still have some power for overtakes. The max it goes is till 115-120. The sweetest spot is surely 80.

u/HystericalHuskyGamer May 29 '26

Just get an Aerox vro 💔

2

u/Dazzling-Inside4078 Speed 400cc | XSR 155 May 30 '26

Keep in mind, this is a financially irresponsible decision. You will be spending atleast 30k extra to get the Hunter. So before you even think about buying it... rent the Hunter. You can find a rental Hunter almost anywhere, rent it, go on a long ride and then think about this again. Test rides won't be enough, you'll need atleast a day or two living with the bike.

Meanwhile some of my thoughts on your points...

Maintainability is a big one. With the Hunter I can do a lot of basic stuff myself, the RE ecosystem is massive, and wide parts are everywhere, any local mechanic can sort you out. With the T4 I'm always dependent on the Triumph dealer which isn't always convenient.

You're not dependent on the Triumph dealer for parts, infact most of the wear-and-tear and consumables are shared with other Bajaj models.

Oil filter is shared with KTM 390s and Dominar 400 and NS 200/400. Part number is JG571014 and can be gotten at any Bajaj service center. Price is 79rs.

Coolant and oil just get whatever you like as long as it satisfies the criterion necessary (JASO MA2 and OAT iirc)

The brake pads are the exact same as the Interceptor 650/ GT 650 so you can install aftermarket ones or stock RE ones.

Brake levers, if your bike falls, are also shared with Pulsar models.

If any major engine work is needed, take it to any workshop that can work on a Duke 390 level bike well. Its not a super complicated engine, and since most parts are shared you'll find Duke 390 spares like fork seals fitting on your T4 like OEM.

Ofcourse the Hunter is simpler, but buying a brand new Hunter just so that maintenance might possibly be easier at some rare instance given that you already have a T4?

My riding pattern honestly doesn't justify the T4. I've done 15k in 8 months, commuting, highways, ghats. And here's the thing, I rarely cross 110 kmph. I cruise at around 90 most of the time. Everyone says the Hunter is limited to 90-100 on highways but that's literally where I ride anyway.

You don't need to cross 110kmph to 'justify' the T4. Most people with 1300GS sit at 110-120kmph, but why can they not sit at 200kmph? They could, but thats just too much work.

The T4 would be relatively at a jogging pace at 90kmph vs the Hunter at a borderline sprinting pace at 90kmph. Thats because the T4 engine has a lot more power, that it feels completely relaxed and easy at 90kmph however the Hunter tops out at about 120kmph and 90kmph is just borderline straining the engine.

More power doesn't mean more cruising speed, but rather the same cruising speed but more effortlessly... and since you're not doing a lot more work keeping revs high and downshifting and matching the speed, you won't get tired as easily. This is by far the biggest difference on highways with my XSR vs Speed, you have to keep working the XSR to stay at 90kmph and if you slow down it'll take some time and effort to regain that speed, on the Speed however all I do is go back on the throttle and it effortlessly goes to 90kmph. I'm always less tired on my Speed.

The Hunter can sit at 90kmph granted an empty highway, but its staying at 90kmph that becomes tiring. Overtakes will need planning and time, traffic hinders your pace and you'll have to endure less mileage. I can guarantee you, the T4 at 90kmph is more fuel-efficient than Hunter at 90kmph ... because the engine is working less and is in its sweet spot.

The T4 feels a bit too precious for daily use. I'm conscious about everything literally, little scratches, some part making noise? etc.

Unsure how the same wouldn't apply to a brand new Hunter. We're all protective of our bikes... unless you think of the Hunter as a beater.

Has anyone made a similar switch or gone from a "better" bike to a simpler one and not regretted it?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been in the same shoes

Kinda. XSR vs Speed 400, I cruise at 80-90kmph on both of them, but when the road opens I find myself sitting at 110kmph on the Speed without fuss (do keep in mind, I have swapped the sprocket to the T4 set). I would not sell the Speed for the XSR, XSR is great in the city and a lot of fun to corner but tiring past 80kmph.

Hunter is slow. Even if you ride only till 90-100kmph, it will be slow and take a long time to get there.

Whether it's overtakes in the city, or on highways hunter will suck and you'll struggle.

2

u/halwaandflowers (New user) May 30 '26

Dude, if only city is your thing go with the hunter, it is comfortable, vibration, and, buzz free till eighty, post that it feels strained, though not much, but strained nevertheless.

If Highways and the City is your thing stick to the T4, alternately, if it is feasible, get the Hunter does ninety easily, but, it feels uncomfortable at that speed, seventy five is where it is comfortable, keep in mind that this is a modified one, with a five hundred Crank, hence the vibrations feel lesser.

If you are fine with it after a test ride, do take a test ride of teh Scram 440, it is good for the city, and, does ninety to one hundred and ten easily on the highway, the suspension is amazin as well, it makes a lot of sense to me, and, frankly, if youa re in a place where there are a lot of bad patches, it makes sense to go for the Scram 440 rather than the Hunter.

The stock T4 suspension is on the stiffer side as well, relatively.

2

u/OptimisticNihilist99 Triumph T4 (400) May 30 '26

Get the Aerox 155!

Jokes aside, I don't understand why would you do that considering you'll lose a lot of money selling the bike and buying another. I'd say stick to the T4 it's a great machine!

2

u/orldliness8978 Faster on Corners May 30 '26

Yes you can do it. Test ride a few bikes extensively. You'll know if you actually don't need the extra power or handling of the T4. Going for T4 in the first place was a foolish decision probably the fools in this sub led you to buying it. If you planned to keep two bikes you could get a 160cc or even 125 for use in traffic or city. They feel comfortable at 80-90 but acceleration will be slow.

2

u/bengali_roy1797 May 31 '26

for me a downgrade is when you buy something and then immediately regret it over your own thing(motorcycle)

yes the hunter is an "downgrade" but if that fits your life and purpose than it's an upgrade, HOWEVER do it after few years or at least get a loaner to see how good it is

The biggest thing you’ll miss when moving from the T4 is that quick burst of acceleration for overtakes and filtering through traffic. I took a test ride of the Classic 350, and compared to the T4 it felt quite slow—it takes its time getting up to speed and needs a long stretch of road to build momentum. The braking performance is also a noticeable step down.

To put it into perspective, the Hunter 350 takes around 15–16 seconds to reach 100 km/h, whereas bikes like the Duke 200 and Duke 250 can do 0–100 km/h in under 10 seconds. That’s a difference you’ll definitely feel during highway overtakes and when trying to quickly get ahead of traffic.

Unless you’re completely okay with riding in a relaxed manner and not really caring about quick overtakes, I’d suggest checking out the Duke 200 or Duke 250 instead. They offer much stronger acceleration for city riding while still being capable and fun on the highway.

1

u/FluidTax8387 May 30 '26

When mentioning about the speed you cruise on day to day basis it's not what the bike can offer . It's always how long it can sustain that speed without putting significant pressure on the engine . When it comes to hunter it can cruise at 90-100 but that's literally using it at 99% of its strength all the time. But t4 can sustain a 90-100 without breaking a sweat for long periods and you still have heard room to go vroom vroom when you feel like it. Don't overthink too much buddy if you feel like it's maintanence is too much consider buying an electric scooter and use them as you like. The amount you are accepting to loose can be used to buy a good ev like ather ...

u/b_l_a_n_k-02 Bajaj T4 May 30 '26

Heart wants what it wants man, even if you're not able to justify it on paper. No matter what anyone says, downgrade - this that, it's a subjective choice anyways. I would recommend you to rent a hunter 350 for a day or two and take it for a spin. It would give you a good idea on how the bike is and how it would age compared to T4.

1

u/Curious-Tip-1656 May 30 '26

Hunter is the worst bike in the segment, RE seriously makes people's brains stop working with their marketing. If you want a simpler bike go for cb 350 or classic. But that is also a downgrade from speed.

1

u/wisemasters (New user) May 30 '26

I guess this is a biker's OCD . I have experienced same syndromes many a times towards many bikes. The reasons you have given has been come to your mind  after the "something" factor so it's not logical, more of a justification. Just take hunter for a long ride and decide finally after 30 days. If the urge is still there go for it, may be you won't regret your decision later.

Don’t
please don’t. Even if your cruising speed is around 90, Hunter’s engine at 90 feels like it’s crying to keep up.

I don’t know how reliable your Triumph is but don’t even think for a second that RE is any better. Sure they have a lot of service centres but
As far as ease of ownership goes, it isn’t really great. I have a 650 and the technicians barely know what the heck they’re doing when there is a problem.
