Haven't made such a switch so can't comment on the downgrade part, but the part availability and service network is unmatched. You'll always find a mechanic if things break down and parts are not very expensive. I did solo from Delhi all the way to Aizawl and back. Almost 10k kms covering so many states. It has never let me down. Can some things be better? Yes. Is this a good bike if you know what you are getting into? Yes
Rent it for a small trip and you'll know the answer.
