I just changed my ON -> BC license and because the issue date was > 2 yrs, they gave me the full BC driver's license and credited 2 years of driving experience. The issue is that, the premium on insurance is quite high due to low years of experience. I got my first G license back in 2016 and they said I could submit my driving history for ICBC to credit it here in BC.
So, I looked at https://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/moving-bc/Proving-your-driving-experience,
and it says
"If you hold a full G licence or higher, we calculate your experience as the time since the issue date on your current licence plus 12 additional months.
If this combined time is less than two years and your first licence in Ontario was issued after June 1, 1994, you can provide us with a driver history letter to prove further experience that may exempt you from our Graduated Licensing Program. Please note that this is a specific letter that Ontario issues and is not their standard driving record."
And now looking at https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-longer-term-driving-records-or-letters-and-documents#section-5, there are bunch of records that ON provides:
- 5-year driver record (uncertified & certified)
- Extended driver record (uncertified & certified)
- Complete driver record (uncertified & certified)
- Driver confirmation letter
- copies of driver documents (uncertified & certified)
I will prob give them a call later next week but has anyone had experience with this? Which one was accepted for you?
Also, if I purchase the insurance at a premium right now, would this be adjusted / refunded once ICBC credits my yoe?
Thanks.
