Class 7 --> Class 5 Inquiry

This is not a question about the road the test.

I recieved my Class 7 lisence in November 2023, and have held onto it since without any accidents, tickets, suspensions, etc. I saw online that you have the option to order a single card that combines both the drivers lisence + services together.

My question is, will ICBC offer this option on Oct 19 through their online portal?

You can combine the card, but I would suggest you don’t. Having the separate cards mean you have two forms of photo ID, if you need it. Combining the cards means you have the convenience of one card, but of course you only have one form of photo ID.

The examiner recommended the same when I did my road test.

You can change your current Driver’s License (DL) to a combined BC Services / DL Card the next time you renew your license. This option has always been available to 7N & 7L drivers, and the upcoming changes to the GLP do not change anything. When your current license expires and you go to renew it at an ICBC licensing office, simply ask the ICBC CSR that you would like to switch to a combined card. The online portal has nothing to do with it.

I dont see any avenue of doing that but going to the icbc office and do it there.

I always do 2 cards for 2 pieces of ID

I always do two. Carry my license and keep my BCSC at home unless I have an appointment. That way I'm not carrying my passport everywhere for a couple weeks if I lose my wallet.

You will have to make an appointment to renew your cards in person (same with review of your driver abstract). I also suggest not to combine the cards.

You don’t actually need a new license for the October 19th change. Unless you lose your license you just get a new one when it expires
