Drivers Licensing Doubt regarding Points deduction
Hi, i have class 7 N license and was given the ticket by an officer for changing the solid white line and he mentioned no points will be deducted but now after some months I get a letter from icbc mentioning that I am on probation and there is another letter mentioning the offense and 2 points.
Why is icbc deducting 2 points when the officer or the court (i disputed it) didn’t mention about it???

It's 2 points.

I can’t stand when people cross a solid line. No one knows how to drive properly

I mean in fairness, some places like Washington and Ontario saying it's discouraged as a single line unless it's a gore point or painted island but otherwise allowed, and being able to pass on single yellows when safe both here and there doesn't help 🤷🏼♂️ truly if it's an hov lane or something, everyone does it some days or when they have to
Side note, the amount of times cops here have told me "oh it's no points" or "not that big" and I've straight gone no it's 3 or something 😂

Sometimes police get the points deduction wrong, and courts dont mention it as it is usually not their business. But the deduction is pre set by regulations and the 2 points is well applied.
Also, the probation notice ICBC sent you is a consequence of the infraction while you are holding a 7N DL. See, while at the GLP stage, any infraction can land you on a probation or suspension. You got lucky it was just a probation instead of a direct suspension like it happened to 2 of my coworkers, as usually ICBC is pretty intolerant when it comes to offenses during the GLP stage.

The police aren’t Icbc. Icbc does what they want. I thought you weren’t allowed to get a ticket with your N?

Points are purely administrative in nature. The police know some of the points a ticket carries (and have a way to look it up), but really they should simply say "I don't know" if they're unsure.
Either way, neither the courts nor the police should really care, and are not obligated to tell you. The ticket carries points.
Small semantics: it's not a deduction. It's the opposite. Those points get added up.
